---

Updates in 3.4 — we've got our first round of coach-led group nutrition programs ready for you! Take a look to see if either of the "Clean Eating" challenges in May sound right for you. Want to figure out a food allergy? Check. Eat better foods to help with stress? Check. Get ready for that summer beach bod? Check. All-in-all our first "Clean Eating" programs will go a long way to helping you feel your best.

Oh, and a minor note: Kale is now Koso — we've doubled down on helping folks feel their best through great, accessible nutrition. 2.1.1
2013-08-02
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle

=====
Update 2.1.1 - Way faster to add a meal. You can now delete a meal if you accidentally post doubles (or want to post a better photo.) Commenting on meals is faster. Improved navigation (on the bottom, easier to access!) Fixed a rare signup crash on the profile view.
=====

It's been 3 months since being in the App Store. We now have over 250 people tracking their meals with Kale. We've heard from all over the world that tracking your meals has helped you focus on your diet and make smarter, healthier choices. But we're still learning. We will always continue questioning... questioning how much better can we make this, how much more can we help, and how can we inspire people to live healthier.

This update to Kale has been entirely redesigned for clarity and speed. You can now see when people comment on your meals. It's faster than ever to snap a quick photo of your meal. And we've made a beautiful way to look at your past meals, to see how you can improve.

- Logging Meals
Speed is key here, so now the camera pops up immediately. You can still select an older photo, or use no photo at all. The photos start uploading in the background as you take them, so you can get back to enjoying your meal as fast as possible.

- Logging in and Signing up
It's faster, and easier to understand. If there are errors with signing up, you'll know what to do to fix it.

- Updating your profile
You can now tell the world what your health goals are, by stating it in your profile. If you're working with a coach, trainer, or dietitian, you can now share with them what your goals are to make it easier to give you useful advice.

- Speeeeeed!
Kale has to pull data from the web app all the time. To speed this up, we've continued to add more caching (keeping local) to certain pieces of content (user profile information) to make things speed up.

"This journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" - Lao Tzu.

When we built Kale and put it on the App Store last month, we had no idea it would attract so many awesome people. Thanks to you all, we've been inspired.

Inspired to keep making a difference in health, to keep helping people live healthier.

With this update, we've fixed problems that have caused confusion or distress. We've also improved the speed, responsiveness, and made it easier to get things done.

✩ Signup process
It's now all done with-in the app. No need to open Safari, login, get an email, and hop back to the app.

✩ Account settings
You can now update your profile photo, username, and email from within the app. Hopefully this means we'll see less people with the default "Veggie!" avatars ;)

✩ Speeeeeed!
Kale has to pull data from the web app all the time. To speed this up, we've started caching (keeping local) certain pieces of content (user profile information) to make things speed up. For the more technically inclined, we've shift instantiation of our views (as to not block the main thread) in posting meals, using the camera, and creating comments. All this adds up to a much faster experience.

teh is panda,
This app!
Some people think it's absurd that you can find out your dogs IQ or preheat you oven wirelessly from you iPhone. The amount of raw output with productivity we can achieve from our smart phones is unparalleled. Kale makes it happen, but with something far more important than knowing a dogs IQ.. Our own personal HEALTH. Just by having this App on my phone I have changed the way I eat completely. I can't even pick up a donut or chocolate bar because I know if I do, and I neglect to take a picture of it. I am lying to the community but more importantly lying to myself. I am now a healthier person and can attribute some of my success to Kale
Bronxzou,
Best way to track your meals!
This app is the perfect way to track your meals. You can hide the things you're not proud of so no one else can see them, but you can still go back and track your meals. Plus you get a report of how many things you're proud of (and more importantly not proud of) every week.
mr siren,
Teach a man to fish...
Kale didn't just help me lose weight (20lbs since alpha testing, thank you), it helped me adjust to a healthier lifestyle. The community aspect adds a little accountability to your routine, making it easier to form healthier habits that last long past the day you hit your weight goals.
Mocha me,
Definitely something I need
This is super easy and simple to use. A great way to teach yourself about making good food choices.
Super Teacher Girl,
Can’t create an account
It won’t let me create an account. I keep getting an error code. I’d love to try the app if I could get some technical support.
Belle reviews,
Won’t work
I can’t create a account to even start trying this app. It gives me a error code 6 or something. I’ve tried it about 4 times. The app looks wonderful.
I am worried that the whole 4 reviews are all from 7 years ago.
