KushScan - mobile application that recognizes type, thc level, sativa/indica level of a dry kush by photo. Application shows 3 most visually similar strains from our database, you can take a new photo or use previously saved from your gallery.
Using our app you can perform mobile cannabis testing, it can help you to understand what you smoke, how strong the strain is, using sativa indica level you can predict mood and effects. After prediction, on the probability screen, you can tap on a flower photo to read extended information about your marijuana.
For now we trained our algorithm to recognize 20 kinds of marijuana : Chocolope, Durban Poison, G13, Hindu Kush, Jack Herer, Lemon Haze, Northern Lights, OG Kush, Pineapple Express, AK-47, Amnesia Haze, Blue Dream, Bubble Gum, Girl Scout Cookies, Gorilla Glue, Green Crack, Pink Kush, Sour Diesel, White Widow. It means when you are trying to recognize strain that is not in a base - most relevant from 20 known kinds will be chosen.
Such a simple, at first glance, the application is based on a set of modern computer vision algorithms. More than two years of research were spent on inventing and customizing texture and color features, that describe marijuana strains in the most convenient way.
The continuously updated base that we are using for training our algorithms is compiled by an in-depth genetic analysis of hundreds of the most famous marijuana varieties.

This app is ok but sometimes I had to rescan until a result came but most the time it’s pretty accurate and like it said it goes by a 70% similarity so it’s good what I first thought about it was I should get this but now it’s kinda ok looks good outside I should go on a walk yeah I’ll leave it anyway wrote my thoughts my bad but yeah it’s good

AMAZING
I’ve only had this app for about an hour and my mind is BLOWN.... I tried it with a few strains that I already knew. All correct. I had trouble with another strain but honestly I didn’t have enough to take a quality picture. After a few tries it correctly recognized Sour Diesel! Make sure you take clear pictures, with all noticeable features of the weed. Coolest app ever.

Didn’t identify correctly, on the right track
Took a pic of about 10gs of purple punch &Shine brand from local dispensary..it guessed blue dream, gorilla glue, or white widow. Tried a couple g’s of S.C. Slimer, also &Shine brand, it guessed Sour Diesel, AK 75, and something else. I tried purple punch again and it gave the same results as the first time. I really honestly wanted this app to work! Disappointed but honestly didn’t expect an app to be able to identify a strain by picture only lol.

Mind Blown
This app applies machine learning to marijuana categorization, and it works- it works quite well! While I don't think this can ever completely replace chemical testing, the results I've seen have been completely accurate. I highly recommend.

Fun for entertainment
This app is fun for entertainment but not the least bit accurate. Also it says edit strain info but don’t really edit anything. I love the concept and know it’s probably impossible for a app to identify the strain. My THC level for what ever I scanned came back as 20%. All in all it’s a cool app to toy around with fool your friends into thinking you know your cannabis.

Mediocre, at best
Tried app on 2 strains. Both strains are commercial, state issued in labeled containers. I tested each strain 2-3 times.
The app provides 3 possible matches & it was 1-3 on one (& 0-3 on the other) with the correct response being #3 @ 51% chance. It fell woefully short on the THC% on both.
I will keep trying for awhile, to collect more data, but, for now, this app seems to need major improvement to have usefulness.
