This version of the KPCC app features a brand new stream. It may sound the same, but it is coming to you from completely new infrastructure, so drop-offs are now a thing of the past. Some live stream features including rewind and pause have been temporarily deactivated as we continue to fine tune the service. Rest assured, they'll be back.

2022 Updated Review
Since my last review, I feel the app has improved slightly, with the addition of more podcasts and frequent news updates. Unfortunately, the livestream and streaming of archived shows is still problematic. The app doesn’t keep your place if you get a call or have to switch audio apps temporarily. The feed crashes regularly, and the app just resets randomly unless you’re listening uninterrupted, and even that crashes sporadically. There hasn’t been much improvement to this app over the last several years, which is very disappointing. I love KPCC, but I can pull up a radio app and get better more consistent audio streaming than this app has ever had. Why this app hasn’t been fixed, I have no idea.
eTHE2,
Flakey App
Seems since the last release the app will suddenly shift from one program to another(usually previously heard). It may or may not shift back to the correct ‘live’ programming. Occasionally the program will replay from the previous hour. Occasionally it’s jumping between three different programs within 5 minutes.
Milosgal,
Useless
As a longtime subscriber to KPCC, I would expect the station to have a functioning app. It doesn’t. Every time I try to open the app, it fails. On the few occasions that it has opened, there is no program schedule that you can access in order to chose what you want to listen to. How can this be? KPCC promotes itself as the most popular NPR station in southern California. Really? How can that possibly be given that most people access radio via the internet, not through radios. Please make fixing this app a priority! I bet there are even knowledgeable KPCC members who would volunteer to fix it!
Dr. Cole,
LAist shows bias in programming is complete
As a true lover of KPCC, and a member, I am boggled and forlorn over this station’s decision to excommunicate surrounding areas from their importance. Their radio signal covers much of Orange, Riverside, and even some San Bernardino Counties. They have attempted to keep the news broad enough to cover these areas. Now, with this new branding (which was so unnecessary), they’ve undertaken a move similar to the Angels by casting themselves as only for LA. Why on earth would you degrade and bias yourself so??
Hornpipe,
I love KPCC but this app doesn’t work!
I love KPCC and listen all day, but this app just doesn’t work. The signal constantly l fails, seemingly for no reason, although the WiFi is fine and all other apps are working on my iPhone 7. I end up defaulting back to the radio, which means I can’t use the “live stream” pause feature or access the pledge-free stream during membership drives. I will continue to support the station, but please, KPCC, fix the app!
Egrn42,
Why did you take away rewind?
Rewind option is the best app ever. Taking it away makes it frustrating and annoying.

I thought it was a temporary removal or some thing. It does not make me feel better about being a sustaining member. Although of course I will stay a sustaining member.

Please restore it to its previous awesomeness!
becketcerny,
Bring back the orange and white!
Wow, I got a response to my original review and the app icons were updated. The vibrant SoCal colors are better options than the original black and white and more fitting for the former KPCC. Thank you LAist!
Timitak,
Constant flip flop
After my latest update, this app no longer works. Every few seconds it flips between two alternate broadcasts. To hear the story you were just listening to, you have press “stop” then “play.” This takes you back, but only for maybe ten seconds and then…flip! Back to a different broadcast. So frustrating. Guess it’s podcasts from now on. So long, KPCC. I’ll miss you.
tearsfromheaven,
Love my local 89.3 FM
I always have 89.3 on while in my car driving. Update local new for SoCal.
Great week day and weekend guests that cover important local and world events.
JEPinn,
Bad update Spring 2020
After contacting them 4 months ago and receiving a response they will bring back the rewind, scrubbing ability I have to say again that their Spring update has ruined my listen experience. With my ADD I need to rewind to hear things 2 & 3 times and I can no longer do that.
It also used to never drop the broadcast and now I am constantly losing connection.
Very sad 😞
