Set your sound comfort level, choose your difficulty level, background noise, voice, and let the fun begin.Top qualified speech-language therapists selected pairs of words for you to listen to,surrounded by a choice of sounds.Depending on the level, the mixture and number of syllables and vowels in these pair of words gets more and more complex and thus train your hearing.
Listen carefully and click on the word you heard before moving on to the next pair of words.Continue until you have finished the module and request the generation of a summary report (paid feature) before tackling the next module.
The report generated helps you and your speech-language therapist or certified service provider to better understand the advances you make in hearing rehabilitation and discuss further interventions if necessary.

HOW LANGUAGEREHAB WORKS
LanguageRehab works with Live Sound or through Direct Audio Input (DAI),such as a Bluetooth connection to earphones or hearing assisted listening technology.
When practicing in the live sound condition,LanguageRehab measures the ambient noise present around the listener. The app picks up sound from the microphone of the mobile device and converts it into digital data.
Setting the COMFORT LEVEL adjusts the loudness of the voices to your individual optimal level.
As aural rehabilitation follows a hierarchy,LanguageRehab’s design includes three difficulty levels — PRACTISING,CHALLENGING,and DIFFICULT.Each group consists of five modules, with ten PAIRS OF WORD (PoW) per module.
It also offers six grades of predefined BACKGROUND NOISES ranging from “Very soft” to “Extreme”,specifying a Signal (voice) to Noise (background) ratio (SNR).
SNR calculation examples:
Example 1: the voice speaks at 60dB (SIGNAL) and the air-conditioning sound in the background is at 40dB (NOISE).60dB minus 40dB: SNR is +20dB
Example 2: the voice speaks at 50dB (SIGNAL) and the air-conditioning sound in the background is at 55dB (NOISE).50dB minus 55dB: SNR is -5dB
Only at the CHALLENGING and DIFFICULT levels, the listener can choose a BACKGROUND NOISE type and select the BACKGROUND NOISE LEVEL.
When a level is completed and subject to purchase, the results will be collated in a report and sent to the pre-registered email addresses. The report consists of
- Personal and statistical data
- Level and modules used
- AMBIENT NOISE measured for each PoW played
- Comfort level measured when a PoW played
