- Last week we pushed a total overhaul to the subscription handling...unfortunately a few switches got flipped and things turned off. This made some Pro features not available to new users. Sorry...things happen but we appreciate those supporting us and letting us know!

We spent the past few months rebuilding subscription handling to include now offering our Satellite Group Tracking as an In-App monthly or yearly activation to use with Iridium GO! units and the separate Iridium unlimited services.
Lots of capability added with that for offline, peer to peer group tracking. If you don't know what this is...don't buy it till you learn more from our website and have the hardware to run it.

Not only does this free up our need to activate each and every device, but in turn it drops the cost across a number of Iridium devices sharing the same Group/Team iTunes account.
**NOTE if you do not know what this is...you probably don't know how to use it nor have the satellite Iridium packages to actually run it. So, DO NOT PURCHASE IT until you learn more from our website. This is a service allowing you to see each other in the field in areas without traditional cellular or WiFi coverage. To do this, it requires satellite equipment and SERVICE. The only service we recommend is the Iridium GO! Unlimited plan, as anything else will burn out your data too quickly. Make sure you get that equipment and service lined up first.
Terms apply as per website and we are not responsible for you not knowing how to use it after you purchase it. Most of our folks running this have been trained by us, in person, through our courses...or they happen to be computer geeks... In our experience, most desert racers AREN'T "computer geeks" (no offense)...so grab your kid or an IT person before purchasing.
***Also these are large auto renewing subscriptions...so remember to cancel prior to your next billing cycle if you do not wish to continue.

Pro licensing is unclear
Wasn’t totally clear that the 5 seat license claimed by the PRO level licensing is through Apple’s account licensing so be aware that you have to have all of your devices tied to the same appleid in order to use them. Additionally, when the automatic download of apps put the app on my iPad (after I installed it first on my iPhone), it did not recognize the license even if I tried to restore purchases. This might be a bug or quirk with the app getting auto installed on the iPad before I purchased the license. Deleting the app from the iPad and installing it again seems to have fixed the issue in case others run into the same thing. FYI on this nuance for the developer and appreciate they responded to my initial review after a few days so I’ve revised my original post.

Throw that old Lowrance away
This app has completely changed how I plan my off road adventures. I used it for a 2500 mile Baja adventure, and was able to create daily routes from stop to stop. I do a lot of off roading in the Western US and pre plan my routes with this app. There is a learning curve, but they have great videos on their website to help. I gladly upgraded to the pro version and the $120 per year is a spit in the bucket for the function/features you receive. I raced in several Baja 1K’s and NORRA M1k. I fought with lowrance god units every time. Using an IPad is so much better, and there are SO many more features with LeadNav.

I’ve used this app for well over a year for many things. Yes mapping things out can take some time, but for me that’s not an issue. Off road courses, and rescue plans and options, the fact i can coordinate with other units using this app and be able to see them as well is great. Being able to leave notes on destination or warming/ caution markers is awesome. All around love the app as well as my team loves to use it as well. I work rescue from a busy metro city all the way out to the middle of no where and this app had never left me not knowing where I’m going.

Invaluable tool!
I’ve been using LeadNav for about 4 years now and it’s become an indispensable asset for off-road racing and navigation. While many seem to have jumped on the bandwagon of new apps because of their baked in routes, it’s nowhere near the functionality of LeadNav. I love the route creation feature and the audio cues are a complete game changer for me as a moto racer. Keep up the good work Damien!

Poor execution of a good idea
Trying to map out the desert for offline use is a grueling process. Takes a $20 per year in-app purchase if you want satellite imagery. Zooming in beyond your pre-loaded resolution will result in the map rendering itself blank. Marked trails are not able to be overlaid onto the satellite map. Even pre-loading non-satellite maps to show marked routes requires the same process as the satellite maps and has the same issue of zoom/resolution blank rendering. Would require hours of work to preload a large area. I'm sure it's a great app for racers with detailed, planned routes who pay the $150 per year. It's not a good app for weekend warriors / exploring unless you are willing to pay extra and spend hours pre-loading your planned area in small increments.

Quick review
If you’re looking for backcountry application that uses tiles to zoom in and out this application will do that but very poorly better intended for racing preloaded maps and destination or Propack will get you what you need For us outdoorsman and we can avengers probably not the best app for us be sure to read all reviews on there forum You still have to import your own maps leadnav does not come with maps purchase the application for $20 then purchased the advanced subscription for an additional $30 not extremely impressed but I’m out 50 bucks might as well make use of it

Wouldn’t Race without this app
I’m a co driver for KOH, BITD, and SCORE and this is the only GPS system I use. Easy to use and mark hazards and VCP’s. If you are racing this is a must use. Plus every time I’ve had a question it get answer pretty quick via Instagram. Thank you keep up the great work!

Not for the casual off-roader anymore
Used to be a great app. I have used it for many years. Now, in order for it to be useful offline, you have to purchase their “pro-pack” for an additional $250/year in order to be able to import MBTile maps that you used to be able to do for free. It seems they have turned their focus to professional race teams and neglect those of us that have been users for years. It’s a shame because it really is a very useful nav app. Guess it’s back to Gaia.

I was up and running w LeadNav right away on my off road race car and mountain bike but once I went through the vid tutorials I was on a new level. We will forever sure be faster through the course and A LOT safer. ....not to mention it’s a fun system to run.

Racing to Hunting
We use LeadNav on a regular basis for racing and it’s the best on the market. I got drawn for two hunts here in Arizona and decided to use it on my phone for tracking me and marking spots. My guide was blown away. Thanks LeadNav!!
