Just try it, unbelievably easy and quick teaching
This app is fun and interesting enough that I stopped playing my regular games and now play this. I go through phases and ever couple or few months I see what new Cantonese app are available and check them out only to delete most. Cantonese is not a popular language to teach so good apps are hard to find. This covers a wide spectrum of words giving me plenty of room for growth yet gives me the opportunity to go to the Dojo and practice words already studied. I have a friend who will be traveling soon and thinks she should know a little Arabic so I suggested Drops because I know they have many language options. Get the app and try it for 5 minutes and go from there, you can always delete if you don't agree with me. I liked it so much I wanted to play all the time so I bought it, it's only the second time I have bought an app.

Great, but..
Coming from a Cantonese speaker who grew up with it, this is a great app for those who are learning Cantonese and it’s easy to pick up and learn for 5 minutes each day to improve which words you want and don’t want to learn.
I’m pleased that you still have access to everything even if you’re not paying for the subscription and that’s definitely a plus coming from a language app. The ads are fairly minimal and are “clean” in the sense that they’re primarily ads that advertise for you to get the premium version of the app with some ads advertising for another language app, so they still remain relevant even if you’re hit with an ad every so often.
The only thing that I would like to see implemented in this app is the ability to take a placement test for those who are trying to improve upon their Cantonese that already know a good amount, so people who have an intermediate level of understanding it are able to challenge themselves or improve upon what they already know.

Great App
The process they use for word recognition is very well structured and organized! I absolutely love this app. It’s easy to use, fun and educational. I personally checked out a couple other options before deciding on DROPS, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
I’m using it to learn Cantonese, so I can speak to my wife in her native language...even she says the app seems very efficient, because things are moving along swiftly.

Only Cantonese resource available, besides Duolingo. So, at least there’s that. You have to speak mandarin to use the Duolingo Cantonese feature, which I do speak fluent mandarin, but I’m not the biggest Duolingo fan. With that being said this app is ok. It’s more of a vocabulary builder and not a language learning app where you construct advanced sentences and etc. That’s where this app lacks compared to Duolingo. This app does however have a massive amount of vocabulary you can learn. I don’t like that Duolingo doesn’t show jyutping so you have to listen over and over to figure out the tones. Just started this several days ago I’ll see if it’s any better later on and possibly update my review…. Needs some podcast style conversation building or listening practice and sentence construction aspect. Especially for someone who can already read Chinese characters

One of the best Cantonese Learning Apps
It is pretty good. The lessons use gamification to make learning Cantonese fun. Smooth UI that transitions from word to word flawlessly. Shows the character, pronunciation, image that represents the character, and the English translation of the character. You can slow down the pronunciation of Cantonese if you tap on the character a few times as well. The only downside right now that I can find is that you have to pay real life money to get the full version or more content.

Seems Great So Far
I mean, I’ve used it for 10 minutes, but it’s quite clever and looks great. I like the ability to turn off the jyutping... however, I think an option that simply hides it until the screen is tapped would be nice so as to confirm my memory for the tones. Also, including Yale would be useful since that was used for a long time prior to jyutping.

I’m trying to learn my Grandmother’s Native Language so I can help my children learn it as well I want to help keep Cantonese alive in my family since we mostly speak English at home over all I enjoy this app and will continue using it till I master it

I signed up through the Cantonese ~ here ~ and it said that I needed to go to the Drops host-app to get updates, but my subscription doesn’t transfer?!? What’s up with that? There was actually a pop-up that said it would transfer into the host app. Now I see it doesn’t. . . Which means that I can’t get updates, and I can’t use the host app. It doesn’t sync. It said it would. Your thoughts?
