Description

This colorful, educational vocabulary App for the iPhone®, iPad®, and iPod touch® has all 52 illustrated picture flash cards (plus audio of each card text) from the Let's Name Things Fun Deck® by Super Duper® Publications. Select the cards you want students to see, and have them name items to practice vocabulary, categorizing, and thinking skills. The prompts include statements like, “Let’s name… things that live in the ocean.” and “Let’s name… things you’d take on a trip.”

This App is simple to use — each student looks at an illustration, and either reads the prompt or touches the screen to listen to the prompt. The student then gives a verbal response. After each answer, tap the green (correct) or red (incorrect) button to score the student’s verbal response. Move to the next card by sliding the card currently on the display screen to the side. To move to the next player, tap the bar at the top of the screen and select a name. You can also advance cards and players automatically by selecting the Auto-Advance option in the Settings menu. You can leave a game by selecting End from the menu. To return to the game, select Resume from the main menu. When you finish, view the results in a graph, and print or email your data.

Let’s Name… Things Fun Deck® App lets you:
• Use the app in portrait or landscape orientation.
• Select all 52 cards or just the ones you want students to see.
• Track correct and incorrect responses for an unlimited number of players.
• Advance players and cards manually or automatically.
• Receive feedback for incorrect and/or correct responses
• Discontinue game play and continue at any time.
• View results in a graph and see which questions a player missed during a session.
• Print, E-mail and share your results.

DiannaSLP,
Worth what you paid for...FREE!
It's simply the flashcards, with the ability to keep track of whether the kiddo is right or wrong. There is no sound (so it won't work for nonreaders to use independently), no animation, no ability for the child to know whether they are right or wrong.

For a free app, it's fine.
Gauramani,
Thank you!
Thanks for this helpful teaching tool!
#SLPLIFE,
No working!
This app is not working. I am unable to select the cards. Please fix. Thanks.
They love it!,
Super!
As an elementary school English as a second language teacher, I love Super Duper Fun Decks. Pictures are an indispensable tool for learning language. The pictures in this Fun Deck are a springboard for language production and comprehension. Teachers can use the images in conjunction with a sentence frame in order to structure and extend the students' responses. Sometimes I project the "card" from the iPad onto a screen and we play as a whole group. Other times I use the app to work with a smaller group of students so I can closely monitor their language production and listen to them explain their thinking. In whole group playing, student partners can confer with each other write their answers on a small white board. I award points for the correct answer AND for the partners explaining why they made the answer choice. Either way has the advantage of triggering metacognition as students have to explain their thinking. The teacher can also keep score within the app of the students' correct/incorrect responses. The colorful app keeps the students engaged and learning!
brayslp,
Not worth 5.99
If you have SuperDuper Data Tracker then this app is a waste of time. I'm glad I installed it for FREE. It lists several categories for you to choose or not choose. Then it shows a picture of that category (an apple for fruits) and when tapped a voice says "let's name things that are fruits!" and it will provide red and green buttons for you to mark correct or incorrect. That's all No picture cues no animations, nothing interactive at all about this app.
DigitaiZen,
Good tool needs improvement
Good teaching tool. It can use an improvement and provide an answer to the question. My daughter did NOT like that there was no answer provided. I think it would be helpful to a child to have an answer after the verbal response and not just hitting the green button.
SLPMCA,
Card deck
Card deck on the iPad, nothing more.
DE Speechie,
No pictures
I think this could be a great app but when downloaded, no pictures showed up for the given categories. It says, "lets name...," but nothing shows up to name. I even deleted it and added it again. I also powered my device on and off but nothing worked.
Lost in Update Land,
Disappointed
I used this app during the fall and students enjoyed it very much. Today I downloaded the update and now discover it is completely changed! It would be helpful if tutorials were included with apps rather than having to figure each one out by trial and error!
jwryt,
I can't believe I just paid $5.99 for this app!
This is a rip off! All that this app does is say "let's name things..." no flashcards with different objects or anything, all it does is prompt you to name things in a category, then you keep score. Not worth $5.99 if you ask me!
