Description

This app requires an iOS device with FaceID (uses your face to unlock the device)! See the full list of devices at the bottom of this description.

SEE IN THE DARK
With the LiDAR & Infrared Night Vision app, you can use the front camera on devices with FaceID, and the front and back cameras on iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max in complete darkness! The front-facing camera will use the infrared sensor in the TrueDepth camera. The rear-facing camera will use the new LiDAR sensor. The LiDAR & Infrared Night Vision app turns the world around you into a depth map, where different colors represent distances from your device.

SCARE YOUR FRIENDS
Trigger scare-mode and set your friends up for a huge scream.

For best results, be in complete darkness in a room with space behind you. Explain to your friends how the cool new app shows things around the room you can’t see with the naked eye. Make sure your friend’s face is on the screen, and after 30 seconds, a jump-scare flashes on screen, and captures the terrified face.

APPLICATIONS
See in the dark without turning on your flashlight
Show off your new phone capabilities
Scare Your Friends
Make Your Friends Cry
Share your friend’s terror with a captured picture or video.
Explore how LiDAR and infrared technology works
Learn about depth maps and seeing without light

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Unlike a regular camera, LiDAR and infrared sensors do not need ambient light. They both generate their own light, which you cannot see. Therefore, both sensors will work in complete darkness.

OTHER DEVICES
This app will work on devices that don’t have LiDAR. It will use the front TrueDepth camera to provide a depth map of yourself and objects behind you. The rear-facing display will not work without an iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, or iPad Pro (4th Generation).

Works on any iOS device with FaceID/TrueDepth including: iPhone X, iPhone XS, iphone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPad Pro (3rd generation), iPad Pro (4th generation), iPad Pro 2021

dorbie,
Useful and cool app
This is a pretty useful app but in truly dark conditions the resolution really suffers because the iPhone relies on neural net enhancement of the lidar using the standard camera. In the dark it must fall back to VERY low resolution unrefined depth but when there’s enough light to improve on this then there’s enough light for the standard camera to enhance a low light photo and give you visible information. It is still very cool to see the enhanced depth sensor output in real time.
G-viewer,
Awesome app!
The good reviews are NOT fake. If you want the rear night vision to work, you need an iPhone 12 Pro or better. This app is really cool and really fun to use! I don’t know if it’s possible, but if it is, it would be great to have further range and greater resolution when in total darkness (for rear camera). A bug I noticed on iPhone 13 Pro Max when using the rear (total darkness): the view will glitch out, and it takes a moment before what’s on screen becomes recognizable. Once these are implemented, this app will be perfect! This is an awesome app, and I’m glad I could support the people who made it. What would also be amazing is if this could be in VR!

Suggestion
I really like the app, but is kind of hard to use on a device with out a back lidar sensor,
It would be cool if we could live screen mirror to another device so as we could see in front of us...it would also be great the when streaming you can turn off the touch screen and make the screen dark on the main device so that you can grip it without taking pictures or videos or having a light from the main device.
The screen mirroring could be done through a separate app that is compatible with old(and new) iPhones.
Pyro2593,
I was wondering when someone would finally pull this off
every other app requires at least a little light. Honestly props to you this made my entire night and I hope you can improve the range/add more view modes but this app deserves all five stars and honestly...... 99¢ for true NV I believe you could charge a decent amount more and it would still be worth every penny
agmnickname,
Good start
Would be great to add a watch app to see the image without having to look at a big bright phone screen. Then you could use the better front facing camera as the main camera. If you could make the watch app with the option to turn the phone screen off that would be even better.
Kanakattax,
Cool but useless - worth a dollar
I used the app and it was pretty cool seeing everything in colors in pitch black.

Then I turned the screen to face in front of me and the phone’s screen lit up the room easily and better even at a dim setting.

Still worth the dollar to support the work though.
Oooooooooor,
I was surprised
I thought this would be like every other “night vision” App but no once I found out it doesn’t actually use the cameras and only uses the LiDAR scanner I was generally surprised. It would be nice if you could toggle some settings to be able to use the camera as well, along with the scanner for even if there is low light.
Ihatemobs,
One of the coolest dollars ive ever spent.
Thanks my guy, this was not even an app I thought would exist here on iphone and yet here it is. I just walked around my whole house in the pitch dark with this app on and I was amazed that the iPhone practically has night vision now, its not perfect but I commend your effort and am just thankful this is even a thing on ios now. Super cool. Worth it for sure.

Should Have Passed
I didn’t expect a miracle or anything but this worked way less than expected. I tried this on my 12 Pro Max. Being outdoors in the dark it would have been great if it did what I was lead to believe. I figured it wouldn’t have any distance to what it could do. But it didn’t even show stuff up close how I expected.

Indoors with a little light it worked how I would expect. And that is fine. It’s just that I expected what I see indoors with a little light. But without light this does not work. At least not on my device.
slash9492,
It’s kind of a gimmick
It can barely see in the darkness. If you cover the camera lens and just leave the LiDAR sensor uncovered it displays merely anything distinguishable, just blobs of color.
You can also test it by turning the lights on and off. The image it displays is clearer when the lights are on.
It works and it is certainly using the LiDAR sensor but it’s not even near of what I would call “night vision”.
