The Live Portrait app is something in between. They’re the normal photos you take and print, but they come alive with an embedded video clip that will always be there when you feel like remembering the moment.
Specifically, our mobile app enables photographers, publishers, and content creators to use their traditional printed images as a key to 'unlock' a video to create a more engaging experience.
In today’s digital smartphone world, if the photo is important enough to print, the video clip, which we call ‘a story in every picture’ is equally important.
Photographers:
• Take Live Portraits at the same time you’re taking photos using your existing equipment and current operating workflow. Every photo you take can become a Live Portrait.
• Live Portraits are only viewable by customers who purchase your photos. Our subscription based pricing model gives you control of the initial sale and future subscription income.
How the App Works:
The magic happens when our software analyzes the printed image by creating a mathematical model based on shapes, lines, proportions, colors and other elements. It then matches the model against images already in Live Portrait's database. When a match is found what you see is what looks like a 3D, mapped digital video playing on top of a print…living in the physical world.
Please note that our app scanner ONLY works with printed pictures that have Live Portrait videos enabled.

I saw this on a video, and well it’s fake, and the reviews are probably too.

No clue why people rate it bad
I was told by my photographer that my photos have video slideshows embedded inside of them and can be viewed with the Live Portrait app. I downloaded the app, pointed at my photo and like magic, a video slideshow of 50 other photos showed up. Everyone I show it to gets amazed. Having said that, I see in the reviews people not understanding that this app ONLY works with photos that is in the Live Portrait system. Your photographer should be more clear! Stop leaving this app bad reviews because you’re unable to figure out how to properly use it the way it’s intended to be used. Anyways, for everyone else I highly recommend you go to a photographer that specializes in Live Portraits to get the best results.

The app works totally fine, it ONLY works on school pictures that come from this company. If you expect it to make random pictures come alive then you will be disappointed.

My clients LOVE their Christmas Card
I did a Live Portrait Christmas card for one of my clients. They sent me the video and I designed the template for the card and Lp did the rest! My clients keep texting me letting me know their friends and families reactions..they love it! I got another text a few minutes ago so I had to write this review on Christmas to let Live Portrait know how grateful I am to be able to offer something totally different than the photographers around me. Some days I want to go and let them know about your service but I still wanna be the only one for now to offer this in my area so maybe a different time :) Thank you and happy holidays!

This is such a cool new technology. (Well new to this industry I guess.) I can't believe it is available to photographers.

For photographers, if you shoot video or are considering it, sign up. It is AWESOME!!!! I got approved, went out and took video of my kids along with portraits, uploaded according to the instructions, and the pairing was ready the next morning. Next step, printing at my lab and showing it off!
The customer service is quick, helpful, and receptive to ideas (of which they have already thought and are already developing or told me ideas.)
For personal use (like if you are not going to offer this to clients), each live portrait is expensive I guess but, I am excited to offer this to clients as an add on item. Everyone will want and need it. To get the word out, I am going to use it for Valentines, new business cards, as well as updating my wall with all Live Portraits!
