Description
We all are aware of the universally accepted theory in acquiring any language. Yes it is the LSRW theory ! Listen & Speak first & then Read and Write later. When we learn our mother tongue we follow this theory unconsciously. For eg: A new born child listens sounds and words first from his parents and the people around. After 8/10 months he begins with small words and gradually forms sentences. When he is 3/4 years old, he speaks his mother tongue very fluently without even grammar mistakes !. At this age he has not studied grammar. Infact he has not even acquired reading and writing skills at all. Here comes the importance of LSRW theory. For acquiring fluency & accuracy in any language we must start with listen and speak first. No matter how much we read and write.
But this order is reversed in schools when we start learning English or any other foreign language. We usually start with Read & Write with less importance for Listen and Speak. This needs to be changed. In language lab we follow the naturally proven method of leaning -- that is the LSRW principle. Students get maximum opportunity for Listen & Speak rather than Read & Write.
