Description

Madness at Hobbsgate is an exploration adventure game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, where players explore and investigate a large open world map, progressing though an engaging and exciting story. It is a mobile phone adaption of the classic text-based adventure genre, similar to the point-and-click classics. The game combines a bleak environment, an sense of underlying dread, and several moments of comedy to keep you entertained.

As the fourth game in the "Horror in the Darkness" series, the protagonist finds himself trapped within the walls of Hobbsgate Asylum for the Criminally Insane. Unsure of how he came to be there he finds out quickly enough that the line between sane and insane can often be blurry.

Hoppz037,
Amazing game
First off I’d like to say this game was great! I’ve played and beaten all 4 games now and if a fifth one comes out I’ll be sure to follow suit. Just out of morbid curiosity are there multiple endings to this game tho? There were a few items I never ended up using along with a room or two that never became unlocked like the room where you turn the power back on for the elevator that takes you to the basement. You don’t have to tell me exactly how to reach the diff endings if they are there but I am curious if there are different endings! Please let me know!
Haimy,
Worth the download
Author did a good job on this. Solid, not overly wordy, sensible puzzles, clean interface. Common sense stuff like “used up” items getting removed. Not too much insta death.

This is basically what you envision when you think of an actual good text adventure on mobile.

Nice work!
pirplequeen,
Great game!
It usually takes quite a bit for me to rate a game 5 stars, and this game deserves it. I applause the storyline, and the use of the objects are not super obvious yet not too obscure. There are a couple of grammar errors, but that makes no real difference. Great job! Keep em coming!
Nanomanpa,
Another very enjoyable game in the series
I've played all 4 of the Horror games in this series and have enjoyed them all. Kind of a throwback to the Dungeon or Adventure or Rogue games from the '80s. I definitely required the hints at times to nail down the details of what i had already deduced i needed to do but that's ok. Still a lot of fun. As long as these games keep being produced, I'll probably keep buying them 🙂
Guidosan00,
lovecraft text adventure!
Very enjoyable text adventure in the style of lovecraft stories. The interface makes it easy to play on mobile. If your a fan of Lovecraft you’ll have a good time with this series!
universalworst,
Fantastic game
This game and the others in the series are challenging, fun, and exist in a universe that truly does feel Lovecraftian. I sincerely hope the developers continue making more games like these!
kkentium,
Reminds one of Infocom, but with real Cthulhu flair!
Really enjoyed this adventure, looking forward to playing the others. The story really gets involved and I wish there is a follow up sequel to this one.

The Horror Ends
The story that began in Horror in the Darkness ends here. I loved these games, and I wish there were more like them available on iOS.
Space Matt J,
All of these games are great
Binge these in a few days. Annoyed with myself that I needed some hints but still fun

Horrible
It’s too confusing the entire game makes no sense I can’t even get passed the first part, the hints are useless and you literally cannot do anything to get passed it 0/10 probably one of the worst games I’ve played a big waste of time
