FFW & RW are such a hassle
I’m watching it on my iPad and if I stop watching and restart the show; it just restart from the beginning. If i fast forward ; I have to guess where I was before and just move the dot instead of having an image of where in the show I am while moving forward or backwards. It will be ideal if you add button for us to do so, if they can add a 15 second forward or backwards button. And for the app to open at the shows you are currently watching where you left off…. Not at the beginning. I love the shows… but not a Danny of the app at least of the iPad

Kind of unaccessible app.
I know this will not affect most users. As a blind person who enjoys documentaries, this app is sort of unaccessible. I use voiceover to navigate my screen. While searching for a documentary to enjoy under the. Category tab every category is labeled as button. I don’t know what that means. In order for me to understand what category I am in. I have to select the “button“ and then swipe down to a documentary. I can’t read the documentary title using voiceover. It only tells me how long the documentary is. In order for me to know the title of this documentary and get an idea of what I’m about to listen to I have to click on the length of time that is shown to me in order to even read the title and get a description. It’s very time consuming, and I actually don’t know what all categories are available to me. They are all titled “button“. I do enjoy the app after spending 15 minutes just trying to figure out what “button means“ and what’s behind the time card but it’s actually kind of frustrating. I don’t think I’m going to continue paying for a sort of accessible app. I really wish I could’ve loved this app.

iPhone Airplay users: BEWARE (no subtitles)
First, I want to thank the Magellan customer service rep (Nancy) for her courtesy and professionalism. A full refund was granted along with the promise of a subscription extension had the technical problem been solved.
If you are like me, away from home for a long period of time, caretaking for elderly loved ones, without Wifi, but relying exclusively on an iPhone and an excellent-performance Unlimited 4G wireless plan...then Magellan might not be for you.
You’re fine if you choose to watch everything on your iPhone screen; subtitles display if you request them. But if you attempt to Airplay (via Apple’s Lightning-to-Digital adapter and an HDMI cable), you won’t ever see subtitles. (You’re fine with Airplay if video and audio w/o subtitles meets your needs.)
It was explained that lack of subtitles using Airplay is a limitation imposed by one of Magellan’s technical partners, and there is no estimated fix time.
As I explained in an earlier review, I’ve used about two dozen iPhone streaming apps, and nearly all of them support Airplay (key exceptions being ESPN and Peacock). But Magellan is the ONLY app supporting Airplay that doesn’t support subtitles via Airplay. One might guess that Magellan’s subtitling support is something fancier than most apps, of marginal value, that cause the bigger problem encountered here.

The service is great but...
The iOS app itself crashes when trying to watch any video, from any category. It works great on the computer, or when watching through a browser, but outside of that there is absolutely no way to watch. And good luck getting it to stream an entire episode on the TV version of the app, it is just as buggy with constant freezes and no resume playing function.
Outside of the app issues, the service is absolutely great. The documentaries are informative, and very different from the normal barrage of trash on Network and Cable TV. Some may be a bit dated, but the information is still relevant, and can usually generate a chuckle when looking back at the awful styles we wore back then. Ick.
All in all, the service itself is worth 5 stars as soon as they can fix the issues with their apps on all platforms.

First month of having the app and subscription I watched hours of content each day! Sadly since 2 weeks ago the only way to get audio playing is by casting it to Apple TV or Chromecast… app no audio whatsoever on iPhone since it received an update some time back ( not 100% sure it’s the app but it being the only app that has this problem makes me pretty certain ). All that said I hope it gets fixed and goes back to 5 star app!

Video freezes: Not worth your money
This app has so much potential, but unfortunately i cant watch a full video without it freezing or skipping. I was so excited to start a subscription with Magellan that i decided to pay for a full year with the 1 month trial period. Unfortunately, i cant get through one episode of any documentary without the bugs. At first I thought it was a connection issue because i was using my cellular data even though i had good service. Now i see that even with a strong connection on wifi it doesn't work. It sad because i know this would've been one of my top streaming services but since i cant even watch a full documentary, i have to let it go. I wished they would’ve fixed this issue before they made the app and asked people to pay monthly, quarterly, yearly.

My chief complaint regards the controls on the app. There is no way to fast forward or backup the way you can in virtually all other video apps. There is no button for this, and clicking on the left or right part of the screen does nothing. The only way you can navigate within a video is to adjust the slider on the bottom, and if you only want to go back 10 seconds or so, it’s nearly impossible to do this without going back minutes.
A very annoying problem with a relatively easy solution I’d think.

Not worth it.
The app is buggy. It’s constantly freezing or jumping to a different part of the video. Can’t pause/play videos through headphones. To even be able to listen to anything while your phone is locked you have to lock it, unlock it, play the video, lock it, then hit play but even that doesn’t work sometimes. This app needs some serious updates immediately. This is probably the most frustrated I’ve been while trying to watch any form of media. I emailed the company and was told they’re updating it but that was like a while ago and there hasn’t been a single update at all. I’d cancel my subscription but I’ve already been charged for like half a year. If you haven’t tried Magellan yet, wait for changes first. Fix this app.

Poor streaming platform
I love the content however the streaming platform is horrible. The videos either freeze a minute in or there is no video but only sound. I’ve tried to watch videos on this app through my iPad, iPhone and even my smart TV and I have the same issue with freezing or just no video at all. I believe the developers of this app need to upgrade the functionality of this app or else you will lose more subscribers. Unfortunately lower priced streaming app subscriptions have much better functionality. It’s quite disappointing to not be able to watch great videos on this app due to a horrible streaming platform. It’s certainly not worth the price unless the developers upgrade the functionality of the streaming platform.
