So helpful and insightful!,
A great alternative to Instagram
I love this app like many others and love that it is ad-free and run by awesome humans! I love the classes that are integrated into the app, that’s so wonderful. I do find that the majority of makers seem to be knitters right now, which isn’t me so I find a lot of the posts don’t speak to me personally, but maybe that will expand over time. I would love if there was a bit of a caption under the photo shown in the feed to get a sense of what the work is about without having to click on each one. I’m also not clear on who I am seeing in my feed because most of the people I see I don’t follow. I’d love a grid option to see the feed too so it isn’t just one long scroll, but I know they are so new and adding new features all of the time, which is great! Overall, I think it’s a fabulous app for crafters and makers who want to share what they are creating in a light-hearted space.
LoopnThreads,
I like it. I am updating as I use the app.
I've kept my eye on this platform, but I've been slow to set myself up. I love the dedicated space for crafters. It seems safe and engaging; I feel in control of what I want to see and how I want to use the app. Community driven. It can use a few bells and whistles but not too much to take away from the purpose. I am enjoying it so far! I would love a dark mode.
.
Some minor things, or maybe I'm still learning the mechanics, but when I try to tag someone in a post, and their name comes up as a suggestion, I click on it, but it displays their email. I'm not sure if that's normal. Usually, it's just their handle on most platforms. So I deleted the email part. After I posted, their tag didn't take me to them. It says this user doesn't have a profile, but if I search them, it comes up.
.
I just learned how you could resize the photo by pinching to zoom. It wasn't evident to me at first the way the UI is set up. I still feel like the photos come second the way they're somewhat hidden by the wall after being posted. It looks nice, but I feel it's a little intrusive.
TheSlugAndLettuce,
Possible Instagram alternative woot!
I am SO excited for this app - every maker should join up to escape from the tyranny of Meta-owned social media. Reminds me of how Insta used to be before FB bought it - only photos (though they recently added the ability to post multiple and not-square photos), chronological, etc. It’s still really new but they’re working on adding more functionality, it just needs more people to really get it going! Try it out - it’s easy to use and is the perfect algorithm-free spot if you just want to share photos of your crafting, cooking, art - anything you make!

A breath of fresh air
This app is perhaps most valuable to me for all the ways that it encourages PROCESS and CURIOSITY.

A lot of the folks on the app post projects in process, not just polished and finished products. It gives context and encourages me to JUST BEGIN (if I’m stuck) or JUST KEEP GOING (if I’m in the middle of things). Making things with my hands is crucial to my mental health, but its a slow process, and its good to remember its that way for a lot of us. The process matters and is beautiful and valuable in its own right.

There are also opportunities to learn from others, both through formal classes and informal interactions. The classes are easy to access and are generally presented as an INVITATION TO LEARN AND CREATE.

All in all, there is a sense of invitation and welcome. That is certainly a breath of fresh air.
tiny._satan,
Must Download!!
Definitely my top favorite platform to share my creations! I really like how it focuses on sharing pictures rather than videos, I use tiktok & Instagram so it’s really nice to have a platform that doesn’t heavily rely on video content. I do wish there was a way to share our profiles through a link, I would love to add my info to my linktree so other ppl on my socials can find my profile
madsare,
AMAZING APP FOR ALL MAKERS
I absolutely LOVE this app!!! As a new maker, the space they have created is so inviting! I’m stoked to be learning new crafts through the classes they offer and meeting new people along the way. It is so exciting to learn and grow as a maker, and discover all the creative projects people are working on right now. I would HIGHLY recommend the Making App for all creative endeavors!
empress603,
Excited!
So excited about this app! I’ve been praying for someone to come up with an alternative to Ravelry already, and this app is beautiful! I am looking forward to the community growing and for some of the glitches to be ironed out (currently when you try to click on a class it just takes you to the app page in your browser window). I’m gonna try to be with Making for the long haul!

The Future of Crafting & Making
I am so in love with this app and the company’s mission to create a community of close-knit artists and makers. I believe this app will be the future replacement for Instagram, Etsy, and Craftsy. Everything I need, in one centered, grounded place - created by humans who truly care and are making the world a better place.

Cozy Creative Community
I love love love this app and community! I’m inspired every time I log on — by various makers’ projects, process, and finished objects. It’s my favorite parts of the social media platform I just left. Making is creative pictures and inclusive community without the noise and the mindless scrolling.
Sarahcolligan,
So fun!
It’s been great to see what all kinds of other makers out there are up to. I do wish you could read the caption for the pictures without having to click on the image. Inspiring nonetheless!
