flower coin song,
This is the way to learn geography
Map-Quiz is the best app for learning geography, for reasons written by earlier reviewers: it is free, completely uncluttered by ads, and has a clean user interface. Yes, for those who miss Geomaster, this is a solid replacement. In addition, the developer is responsive to both events (adding Ukrainian oblasts) and feedback (updating country names).

With this app, in just a few minutes each day, you can learn useful geographical information. Since finding the app a couple of days ago, I have revived my knowledge of Europe, learned South America, and realized how little I know of US territories and Caribbean islands (which the app will help me with!). With Map-Quiz, anyone can reasonably work towards identifying the locations of all 200+ countries in the world.

Map-Quiz is a generous gift, allowing everyone with access to the App Store a way to learn geography. If the developer is looking for ways to enhance the app, I would love to see (1) the option for a sturdier typeface, because this one is a little thin for my aging eyes; (2) physical features such as bodies of water, mountains, and deserts; (3) additional interior regions besides those already found in the app. I would also be delighted to see an option for countries to be labeled by their autonyms (e.g. España for Spain) -- this would be beautiful, although perhaps too unwieldy for countries that use different scripts or have multiple official languages.
brine fly,
Free, no ads, and a fantastic quiz structure!
I've downloaded several geography games because I'm trying to be a responsible human in the world. They all have weird ads they force you to watch or else ask me to shell out a bunch of money (which is fine - they deserve to be paid for their work. It's just that my desire to be a responsible human doesn't go THAT far). Also: the quiz styles are often multiple choice, which doesn't translate to a real world context.

In so glad I found this app! It's wonderful: no ads, no demands for money, and exactly the style of quiz I was looking for. Hooray I'm already learning so much! Thank you for making this beautiful app and giving it to us!
jbev121314,
Yes yes yes
There was a geography game several years ago called Geomaster II that I played religiously—it taught me the location of every country in the world and sparked a real interest in geography. That game disappeared 7-8 years ago. I tried in vain to find a replacement but no other geography game stacked up favorably. Until now! I love the simplicity and the design of this game. Playing it a ton, all the old knowledge is finally coming back.

My one request—add Indian provinces and Chinese provinces! These two countries are home to >33% of the earth’s population. I’d love to be able to use this game to learn the layout of those countries.
rounck34,
Love it
This is a great way to brush up on long forgotten geography skills! I’ve been playing this game zealously for two days and now have a good portion of the globe memorized.

My only constructive comment is that some map regions are daunting to memorize. Subdividing regions could help users memorize in smaller chunks and learn faster. For example, arbitrarily dividing Europe into Western Europe and Eastern Europe, Asia into the Middle East and East Asia, Africa into upper and lower, etc. Memorizing 20 countries per practice run is much easier than memorizing 55.

Otherwise this is an awesome game!
Samp Ersand,
what a great app
I spent just three days with the app and I can already locate over 90% of the countries in the world (i only have problems with some caribbean islands and eastern europe).

One thing I'd really like to see is a toggle to keep already-guessed countries on the map still. After going through ~75% of the countries, it becomes significantly easier a there's only one country left in the general region you know it is in. Other than that, great app!
Nfkshyajgshsgfagsjfj,
Really quite fun
There’s a good selection of game modes, though each country gets labeled once you answer it, and the map gets really cluttered for it, which is a little annoying. Sometimes as well little islands can be hard to tap, or they don’t quite properly load, making them nearly invisible.

It would also be cool to have a bit of a reverse game mode so that you learned to name countries based on their location, not just locate them based on their name.

Overall really pretty good though.
this would make it cool,
Exactly what I needed
I’m not one for writing reviews since apps usually don’t impress me, but recently I was curious to learn more about geography since I had very little knowledge. I got this app and within a single week I can name all 202, I got to give it to the app and the great design. The feature of a leaderboard added an incentive to try to get a faster time and climb the rankings which was a great catalyst to be able to learn them all.

Easy to use.
No ads.
Great app.
LBM MBL,
Get it now
EDIT: can you add an option to hide labels in practice mode?

Perfect app. Love it. I’m a GPS now. I have some suggestions: - Bug fix: The circle for Sao Tome is huge and makes clicking on Equatorial Guinea and Gabon very difficult. - Bug fix: Oceania circles are glitchy in World mode. - Ambitious request, but do a challenge of only islands, including those that aren’t independent nations. - Ambitious request, but add geo feature (rivers, mountains, etc.) and flag quizzes. Thanks for the amazing app!
genericUsername38718,
Would like to see small changes / addition
New ideas. Maybe a state/territories capitals map could be added? The US or even the world. Love the game!

(Old Feedback, thanks for adding it! )I love the game, but it would be nice to have an option to disable the country labels, there places where they obscure other countries making it hard to click correctly especially if your going for time.
W1018,
Needs an update
Mostly I enjoy this app, it’s simple, no ads, you just learn. It does have an issue though, it is more often than not getting “stuck” while the user is trying to mark off countries (states, boroughs, etc), not loading the image so you can see where to tap. It’s especially frustrating during the challenges as you’re racing the clock. And it could use some additional content, like world capitals. The provinces, states, regions, etc., of other nations. National flags maybe.
