I agree with the other reviewer concerning the fact that there is only access to watch games if you have cable tv or a $100/month DirectTV streaming subscription. The amount of money made from ticket sales and advertising revenue and then you have no way to even watch the games without cable or a $100/month subscription to an obscure streaming service that no one wants? This is not getting with the times. It’s take one step forward but two steps back. You should have a streaming platform that allows people to pay a small fee to subscribe to MASN and stream Orioles games. You are in the pockets of cable tv, which so many people have eliminated because of subscriptions to streaming platforms and yet you’ve made it extremely hard to even watch Orioles games anymore - especially since eliminating WJZ as an alternative for watching Orioles’ games. This is simply asinine! Thanks for nothing!

You’re going to need a cable provider in order to watch— okay that I can understand, MASN is a cable network. Inconvenient but that is how the industry works. Hopefully boomer execs realize they could charge a subscription fee like any other streaming service and rake in $6 a month pretty easily. What I don’t understand is the following: - same 4 ads in rotation and start playing anytime you click on either of the channels (MASN or MASN2) - Ads are FAR LOUDER than the programming audio. Meaning you are constantly having to turn down stream when games cut to commercial. I cannot stress enough how much louder these draft kings commercial are versus the audio level of the actual programming - can’t minimize app to send text, etc. and video can’t play in PiP or just audio in background. So if you leave the app for even just a second, you’re going to have to re-click on the channel and then sit through the 3+ minute ad break before the video plays again. This does not make sense for a live tv player on phone and greatly hinders user experience. Not to mention the stream delay, which is significantly behind the illegal streams found online. At least I can watch my baby birds take the AL east on my phone, I just have to dedicate my entire device to using this one app to do so🫠

The fact that you still, in 2021 cannot subscribe and stream games without cable, is insane. The intention of this app is to use your existing cable provider, at some point, to be able to stream the games, by using your cable account to login. The problem is that the owners of this franchise continue to engage with these antiquated ideas of delivering content to their fans that their fans don’t use. People are cutting the cable and using streaming services. I can’t tell you the number of people I’ve met that stopped following the Nats or the Os simply because they had to find illegal streams online just to watch them, or go through the hassle of getting an MLB subscription and using a VPN. All the owners need to do is give the fans the ability to subscribe to watch the games to the team we love directly, in market, without a cable provider, like it’s not still 2009.

I’m not sure this app was designed by a single person who has experience with app development. There are constant bugs with authentication, UI, and video playback and somehow not a single one was addressed during the off-season. The loading bar doesn’t go away most of the time and blocks the bug, TV provider authentication doesn’t last, and the ad sound mixing is all over the place.

It took years for MASN to have any streaming at all and, despite the fleeting success of the Nats in 2019 and the better performance of the Orioles in 2022, see no reason to invest in these services. The least you could do is outsource the whole network and streaming service or let people watch MASN on other streaming providers. This is an embarrassment for a network that carries multiple baseball teams.

MASN has always been known for their profit driven focus with complete disregard to their customers, because customers will use MASN regardless.

Even the worst companies will still try and hide the fact that they don't care about you, but not MASN.

There is no consistency with what channel the O’s or Nationals will be playing on which only leads to confusion- which they profit from because you need to watch commercials each time you try and watch one of the channels.

We really thought it’d get better after Peter Angelos died.

App/Website/Apple TV problems:

-App doesn’t work a quarter of the time (if you delete, reinstall, and sign back in it’ll work)

-It is rare for the guide to show up under the screen. Many times you will watch a 30-45 second commercial just to find out you’re on the wrong channel, then you have to watch more commercials when you get to the right channel.

-Will sign you out every other week for no reason

-Website crashes every couple commercial breaks

-Slow to open and navigate through.

-Knowing you’re being scammed but there is no alternative place to watch your team.

Now that they’ve finally added Verizon FiOS, I can actually watch games on the App. Taking off 1 star because of the delay on getting FiOS added to the app. Also, ran into some problems authenticating my FiOS account on the app. Not sure if it was a MASN problem or a FiOS problem. Either way, it’s now fixed and working fine. They update it with videos regularly and there really aren’t any glitches.

Unfortunately, if you have Xfinity like the majority of the Greater Baltimore Area, the app still doesn’t have Xfinity support, so you won’t be able to watch the games on your phone/tablet. This is as of 5/4/21.

Let’s skip the fact that in order to use the app to watch live games you must be already subscribed to a TV Service that gets the game. But when you actually aren’t home and try to use the app there is a 5% chance of it working after multiple login attempts. Then once you get the game on in about the 3rd inning you have to keep guessing when it will crash on you. The O’s are currently the #1 team in the AL but the Angelos family don’t care if or how the fans can watch the team they love as long as their revenue keeps rolling in and not reinvested on a better viewing experience.

Had to give it a 1 star rating but that is being generous. They really need to invent a collapsed star going down to a black hole.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, MASN added obnoxious closed captioning which I cannot turn off. It is extremely annoying, it blocks the score and generally makes one of the worst apps I’ve ever experienced just a tad worse.

Yesterday was a great day for the app to do, well, nothing when trying in vain to watch an important double header against the blue jays.

The app is clunky, but that is not fatal. What makes this a one-star app is that it will quit without explanation and be offline for the remainder of a game. This has happened to me twice in the past week when the O’s were rallying late in the game, including tonight. MASN needs to pay someone to make this an actual reliable and user friendly app.

This app is absolutely horrible. It’s like a 1st project in a high school coding class. Absolutely no thought put into UX. The streaming feature is slow to connect and the only way that you can see what is on each channel at the time is to connect to the stream first. Especially annoying because there is no consistency on whether the Orioles or Nationals are on MASN or MASN2. Want to stream on your Apple TV? Good luck! The progress bar on the bottom of the stream is persistent and randomly resets to between 7 and 13 seconds only to randomly reset again when it’s complete. Super annoying. Please put proper development resources towards this app since we, as local residents, are handcuffed to this awful monopoly.

This is the worst app of any kind i’ve ever TRIED to use. Key word is tried because it rarely works. Despite having MASN subscription through verizon, my access is useless because the app is a joke. I can’t stream on my phone or with the roku app on my tv. They each work about 20% of the time. John Angelos refuses to invest any money to have a functioning streaming service just like he refuses to spend any money on his baseball team. The Angelos family could instantly improve the lives of hundreds of thousands in the BaltImore and DC areas if they would just sell the team and sell MASN to anyone who would actually care about the product they put out, even a little bit.
