I know what you're thinking.

“How can this be 3.0 when 2.0 was just like a month ago?"

Well, it's because two very big things are being added in this build!

The first is a new default icon, along with two additional icons, designed by lavender, a 3D and 2D digital artist who I've been working with a bit recently on another project. I can't stop gushing about these icons. The new default icon takes the original Mastowatch icon and makes it much cleaner and much more polished. Please check out the link to their work in Settings.

If you have a soft spot for the old icon, it's still available to Pro users under Custom Icons.

The second big addition is a new backend system to make Mastodon server requests anonymous! Up to now, when you've loaded a server in Mastowatch, you've connected to it directly. This new optional feature for Pro users will mask you, your device and other details about you so that the remote server cannot see them. You can enable this new option under Proxy & Privacy in Settings.

moondiggity,
Best Mastodon app yet!!!!!!
I rarely ever review apps, but Mastowatch has been such a lifesaver!! The UI is simple, efficient and you can tell a lot of time and care when into the development overall! I prefer Mastowatch over all others!
no nicjname,
Great idea, but…
Needs work. Note this is NOT a Mastodon app, it’s for finding details of existing instances. Helpful if you want to set up an account on one (or more).

The existing instances fediscience.org and qoto.org return “invalid.” Are some not searchable for some reason?

The search function requires that you know the full name of the instance. And that it be in the directory. It can’t find parts of names.

The list always reverts to the top. That is, if I choose an instance to inspect, then return to browse (since search isn’t very useful), I start at the top again.

The interface is a bit confusing. Why does selecting the name of the instance under heading “community directory” bring up the search page?

This could be a really valuable resource!
