The Berlin Wall divided a city for decades and fell 30 years ago. Parts of it have barely survived as a memorial.
MauAR does not want this piece of Berlin history to be forgotten by making the division more tangible. Augmented Reality (AR) makes it possible to take you back in time. Look through the camera of your phone and see the Berlin Wall and its history.
THE APP CAN ALSO BE USED OUTSIDE BERLIN
A part of the wall is shown in the place where you are. Also at home. The best visual result is obtained when there is a lot of space, for example outdoors.
WHERE'S THE FORMER EAST OR WEST?
MauAR shows you whether you are in the former east or west. You can see what the course of the wall was like and what gaps it left behind. Your distance to the wall is displayed so that you can experience it with your own eyes.
UNDERSTAND THE STRUCTURE OF THE WALL IN 3D - AT HOME
Use AR to explain the construction of the wall. Switch between the different construction phases. In the original size of the wall you can virtually cross the death strip and change sides.
SEE THE WALL ON THE SPOT
If you are within sight of the former border strip, you can see the wall in its original course. Standing in front of you. In AR. At the original place.

I normally do not write review, but this app convinced me to make an exception. Being sent to see exactly where the wall stood some thirty years ago was something brilliant. It is hard to imagine that a mere thirty years ago, there was a wall splitting the city of Berlin in two. The fall of the Berlin Wall was one of the most important events in recent history, and it is of the upmost importance to remember our history.

Absolutely amazing!
I did this outside and it was just amazing. To see history from both perspectives as if you are right there. You can almost feel the emotions. It was beautiful. I highly recommend this. I expanded mine to full size and you can walk right up to the wall, vehicles, people and objects to see the detail. At one point, you are in a crowd of protestors. This should be how history is taught.

Super cool app. Used it while visiting Berlin; being able to see where the wall was in real time where ever I went was an extraordinary experience. Would highly recommend for anyone, from history buffs to kids wanting a unique visual experience of Berlin.

I am so pleased with this app. I was stationed in Berlin in 1989. I was there when it was occupied and the night they opened the borders I was standing on the walk in front of Brandenburg Gate!!! This app is amazing!!! Thank you
