Qwerty9870,
One suggestion
Great resource but I would like to make one suggestion: make the “save” feature available whenever you view an article. As it stands now if there is an article I’d like to save (after clicking on the link on the homepage for example) I have to go to search then News filter, type in the article name, then click on the article, and then the share icon in the top right hand corner is available to save to favorites. And if there’s a link in the article itself you have to repeat the whole process. It’s very time consuming so please change this feature. Thank you!

Breast cancer treatment disparities among white women vs women of color
As an elderly lay and white woman this was informative. As was also a caretaker of my adoptive grandson with autism severe IDD as well as seizure disorder for 25 years. He had some severe aggressive behaviors. I ignored my own medical needs. Had Medicaid and fairly recently got belated Medicare at age 72. I’m thankful. However I’m now being treated for breast cancer. East diagnosed in early September 2022, finally got lumpectomies in December then full mastectomies end of December. Am on two meds for HRpositive/ HR 2 negative. It’s extremely difficult to navigate who to call on the medical team. Leaving messages still doesn’t help. Amazing. I know the staff is busy. Treatments seem like I’m on a convayor ( spelling)belt . The waiting…while clock is ticking in the pay parking lot . Rooms are crowded still and worry about what disease I’m about to pick up. I’m no longer employable so it’s money to spend that I don’t have. These are my concerns as an elderly woman . Your informative research helps me realize I’m not alone.
Thank you for all you do.
AndrewLinares,
I want to be clear
I am like this app a lot, but there are some things that are holding me back from using it daily. In my previous review I mentioned that there was no way to send articles via text message and there was no way to save articles for later. A developer responded that there was a way to save articles for later, which is true except in certain circumstances. If you search for an article or click on any article after opening the app, you can save it for later. However, if you get push notification about a story that you might like and you click on it, it does not give you the option to save it for later. I would use this app much more frequently if these two features were in it. I currently almost don’t use it at all because I can’t share through text message. Other than that it’s a great resource and I hope it continues to improve in the future
DJFenders,
Ads
I understand that this is a free app, and that ad support is therefore essential. But ads in this app are getting more and more intrusive. What used to be a banner at the bottom or on the page as on is scrolling is now a pop up that interrupts the entire flow (in addition to banner ads that are still there), that need to be manually closed out. Many of the pop up ads are titled "Manufacturer Announcement," which would be appropriate if these were pop ups about emerging drug safety alerts or recalls, but they are just ads and nothing more. They make Medscape feel like a cheap website with questionable integrity. I have always liked Medscape as a quick and organized reference, but it is becoming less appealing, not because of content but because of ad formatting and interruptions. I'd gladly pay a reasonable annual fee for an ad free version with premium features. But the free app is heading in the wrong direction.
Dudeepic,
Ads have become completely intrusive.
I used Medscape throughout medical school and it quickly became my go to resource. I’ve used essentially ever major medical app and this was hands down my favorite.

Now the app will not allow a section of text to be ad free. I’ll scroll down while reading and a new ad will insert itself between the text. This is exceptionally distracting and interrupts reading. Why can’t they just keep the ad banners down at the bottom? There is already one there anyway?

I probably will be uninstalling Medscape, which is very disheartening because I’ve been using it for so long. In their quest for ad space they have lost someone to advertise to, and I’ve lost a great resource. There’s no winners in this scenario. It was a good run while it lasted and I’ll always be appreciative towards the app, but I can no longer support it.

Medical Rotations Life Saver
As an MS-3 on the cusp of wrapping up my third year, I have to say this was my GO TO reference source for clinical rotations. A lot of people will say resources like UpToDate and Epocrates are the gold standards, and while they are incredible, neither possesses the ease of use, scope of information, or clinical tools that this app has. I have a paid subscription to those other sources through my school, but this is essentially the only reference I use and it’s completely free for anyone. I would 100% recommend this app to anyone and you better believe I won’t be without it next year, as a resident, or as an attending.
EV-traveler,
Very useful, but used to be better.
I often recommend that people use the Mayo Clinic site if they don’t have Sci/Med background, but I send them to Medscape if they do.

Unfortunately, both the website and the app are now harder to use than they used to be. It’s not that the information isn’t there, it’s that they’re forcing you to click to the next page and that makes hard too read and share.

It used to be possible to forward a chunk of text to people who needed information. But unless you want to make a career out of cut and paste, it’s quite difficult now.

This all gets back to the fundamental questions facing the business of medicine today; should an informed citizenry be a goal, or should profit?.

Having said all this, I do rely on this site, I just wish it had a little bit more accessible structure.
mowadee,
Exceptional
I use the app almost daily. It’s been a great tool to have and I recommend it.

The past week when I open the app I’m getting a ‘looks like we crashed’ or a ‘send crash data’ pop up on the screen.
I’m also unable to read articles as it says ‘internet required’, which of course I am connected. I realize this is a tech question so if anyone is monitoring this, thank you in advance.
6017354087,
App crashes and sometimes can’t find articles
Oftentimes this app will crash, when opening a push notification. I click on the push notification and pretty much get a black screen. Found an interesting article while searching web. It was a Medscape article. I clicked on article and it gave me an option to open the app. Once in the app, it doesn’t take me to the article. So I copy and paste the title of the article in the search bar on the app and I get nothing…
MD Mauri,
Ads make it very annoying!
I first downloaded Medscape when I was a medical student. I have used it many times in the past, but now I tend to open the app as a last resource. Why? Because of the annoying ads! I’m thinking about paying an uptodate subscription and say farewell to MedScape for good if they don’t remove the ads. We are medical professionals seeking information for the good of our patients, not to pass the time because we are bored. I hope that clarifies my disappointment and reminds you of the purpose of this app and any other source of medical information. At least come with a solution like an advertisement-free version that is not free...
