More than ever, Black women and mothers need kinship, empathy, and support, regardless of age, background, shape, or beliefs. Akina exists as a social hub to provide all these things and so much more. We’re not a database; we’re a community allowing Black mothers, Aunties, bonus moms, and other caregivers to connect both online and off.

Community has always played a vital role in raising children, especially in communities of color. Black mothers and women face unique challenges, such as lack of access to healthcare, mental health resources, cultural isolation, childcare expenses, and the struggle to maintain ethnic identity.
Akina was birthed out of the need to create a safe space for Black moms to connect. We are one village serving multiple communities. There are so many people, groups, and organizations doing great work to support Black women and mothers; we bring them together and multiply their reach. Every single voice makes our community stronger, wiser, and better equipped to be the village for the children we love.

A Space for Us
Thank you to the creators and contributors of this platform for this. I feel so connected. The app features are functional and so relevant to me and who I am. Even playing the audio mixes while I browse the app is such a vibe! I haven’t connected to any moms on here yet but I’m sure I will with time. They also have local meetup events which is awesome. Great place to connect
I love the mantras provided and it’s really a great way to connect with other moms near and far. There are a number of groups to join to ask for advice and just be supportive of one another.

I heard about this app through another mom app. I went to download it and sign up but I had to come to back to it later.. long story short I had to forgot password it sent a email that directed me back to download when I already have it on my phone. So now I have to idk make it with a new email. And it also should ask to save the password that would be helpful cause I just made it and know the password I put but yet it’s not working sighs.. I’ll revisit this once I’m able to get in

Just downloaded, not working
I just downloaded the app this morning and it’s not working. I get a screen that says Oops, it’s being worked on by developers. Shouldn’t that happen at night or at times when most users aren’t interacting with the app? There should be a message that pops up telling us when the app will be up and running again. Common sense end user information that should be shared! 😔

Amazing Platform to find your tribe
As an introverted black mom it’s refreshing to have a space all of our own. Having a space to connect black women and share resources is awesome. Highly recommend!
