memo-specific improvements
FIXED
- We can now comment on any and all public memos.
- Our personal permissions are now correctly tracked as we navigate memos, making participation easier
- all Topic labels (color-coded tags on memos) are now tappable everywhere in Memo, to quickly learn more about a Topic
- when viewing our Feed, tapping an image in a memo’s preview now opens the memo
- when making a new Post memo, the cursor now automatically starts in the composer, saving us a tap so we can get straight to Posting.
- We can now create Chains with image-only contribution(s).
- when a Chain is in an un-published state, contributors can now collaborate in a Chat channel associated with the Chain.

- When commenting on a Chain, as a contributor or reader, we now comment from a “bottom sheet” (from bottom of screen), instead of a “side drawer” (from side of screen)
- We can no longer create chains with a duration of “1-second” or “1-minute” (this was for testing only)
- You can try to publish a Chain before time is up.
- When all contributors have contributed to a Chain, and time is not yet up, you can attempt to publish. However, you’ll get an error message explaining you can’t publish now, because contributors still have time (before the duration you set) to edit their contributions.
- When publishing a memo, our options — “Publish”, “Save to Collection”, “Save as draft” — are consistent across all memo-types and function consistently between mobile and web.
- memos throughout the app are now displayed in more intuitive context, thanks to an update to information architecture.

- Moderators of a Community can now access Community Settings, just like a Community Admin can.
Moderators get access to: Member Requests channel, Content Reporting Channel, and Community Settings. The one thing Moderators can’t do: kick out the creator/owner of a Community.
- We can now exhibit our Communities more colorfully, with taglines, descriptions, and an About section.
This makes Communities and Spaces more consistent in terms of the properties available to inform folks who might be considering joining or connecting.
- We can now react with emojis to Forum Posts (in Forum Channels within a Space or Community).
- When we create a private memo, we can create a direct link to that memo, to share it with anyone (including people who are not in Memo).
This feature also allows us to share links from memo to Twitter and LinkedIn; *however, the ability to share to other social network is “turned off” for now, while we complete another task upon which this depends for full functionality.
- The ability to create a new Community is now built and ready for mobile.
*this feature is “turned off” for now, as we focus on cultivating existing Memo communities.

- When typing and sending an especially lengthy chat message, we can rest assured that they will be accepted (not dropped or lost); and if it’s not accepted, we’ll get an opportunity to retry.
Shipped but not forgotten: in our next iteration, the person typing will be informed when they’re approaching the character limit for chat messages.
