Description

The fastest way to learn any text. Progressively hides words until all are gone!

Wanna learn scripts, lyrics, poems, texts, speeches, scriptures, movie or stage lines by heart, in no time? MemoCoach lets you learn texts by heart ultra fast, by gradually hiding words or lines.

How?
Read the text aloud a few times, and then hit the "hide" button: a few random words will be blanked out. Your challenge is then to read aloud again, trying to remember the words that are hidden. If you can't, display more words again. But as soon as you can comfortably read the text, without any hesitation, hide more words to increase the difficulty and challenge your brain even more. Once no word is visible, you will know the text by heart!

Since your brain only has to learn a few words at a time and the difficulty increases gradually, you'll be able to learn entire texts by focusing a few minutes -a task that might have taken you hours without this technique.

Extra features:
• More than 10 different methods of memorization, to train your brain in various ways and increase retention.
• Learn line by line: want to avoid memory lapses? Premium users can use advanced learning methods to learn texts line by line.
• Actors & comedians: focus on your own lines only: other lines will be ignored (check the video tutorial inside the app to learn more)
• Import PDF, TXT, RTF or HTML files.
• Have your text autoscroll: click the play button, and click again to stop. Adjust the speed using the slider.
• Long press on the text, and all the words will temporarily reappear while you hold your finger on the screen.
• Long press on the "Reveal" button to reset the text.

Are you ready to improve your memory and learn dozens of texts by heart?

Feel free to send your questions, suggestions or feature requests via the app! I will answer as soon as I can.

Kevin

• Minor bug fixes and improvements
2023.7
2023-09-10
• Fixed: when using the actor's tool, the lines that you want to ignore were appearing really weirdly after scrolling.
• Fixed: when using the actor's tool, the lines that you had to learn were not completely hidden.
• Fixed: the spacing between lines could sometimes be different when long-pressing to reveal the entire text.
• Known bug: there are still some little issues with that tool, for instance if you reveal the entire text by long-pressing, not all lines will have the correct formatting. The fixes for that are ready, because we have a giant performance update coming in the next version that also fixes that. This will open the door for us to implement very interesting new learning methods. If you have any requests before we release it, please let us know via the app or on reddit.com/r/MemoCoach. Thank you for your patience while we keep making the app better over time!

(PS: I can barely contain my excitement at the new features we are cooking for you! We finally have a little team and therefore capacity to work on all of them. We are aiming at making the app the perfect companion for actors, comedians, singers, public speakers. —Kevin, for the team at Cosmic Taps)

To watch a video version of these release notes, please tap "What's new?" in the Settings tab.
• We added support for keyboard shortcuts for people with external keyboards. Arrow up and down to scroll while learning, arrow left and right to adjust difficulty, and space bar to start/stop autoscroll.
• We added a link to our new Reddit community for the app, join us! It's on the Settings tab.

• This update adds a shortcut button that suggests a numbered prefix for your text titles, so that you can quickly organize your texts within a folder.
The tool will automatically suggest you to prefix your text title with "01 - " by default, but it will detect whether you are using another format in the folder and will use it to adapt its suggestion.
For instance, if you have a text called "001. My text" in your folder, the tool will suggest "002. " as a prefix for your next text title. Pretty cool!

• Added an option to disable haptic feedback (vibrations) in the app. You’ll find the toggle in the Settings tab.
• As a reminder, in Settings you can enable a new version of the learning page (beta). It looks but same but is WAY more performant, so it will FINALLY work with very long texts (movie and theatre scripts!). I'll leave it in beta until enough people have tried it and we have squashed all the bugs, so please enable it today, it's currently disabled by default. New in 2021.3: just a tiny update to make sure that the status bar is always visible, even if you force Dark or Light mode. Thank you Henry!

As a reminder, new in 2021.1:
Meet the brand new version of MemoCoach, previously called Memy! There are TONS of new changes, and there will be many more to come.

• [NAME] Memy is now called MemoCoach and has a new gorgeous app icon.
• [DESIGN] The app has a new design (I haven't implemented it in all the screens yet, I will improve them one by one).
• [LEARNING] The app now has 10 memorization methods instead of 3. And I am working on many more. Send me your suggestions!
• [FREE] Many more features are now free. Here’s the list:
•••• There are no more ads in the app. Zero. Nada. I just hate ads.
•••• All users can save 5 free texts, instead of 2 previously.
•••• All users get access to 3 memorization methods for free instead of 1.
•••• Dark Mode is now free for all.
•••• All users can import and export data backups.
• [AUTOSCROLL] Autoscroll is now MUCH smoother, before that you could see it moving pixel by pixel. You can also easily change the speed with a slider. Plus, you can decide to always hide the autoscroll buttons to get them out of the way, if you don’t use the feature!
• [DARK MODE] I’ve implemented Dark Mode with the real Dark Mode option of the system. It will be much nicer and will change automatically. You can also force it to Always Light or Always Dark in the Settings tab.
• [SETTINGS SCREEN] Added a tab bar and a proper Settings screen. Finally. It only took 2.5 years...
• [CONTACT] Improved the contact form, you can now use your default email app.
• [RELEASE NOTES] Added release notes to the app, and a badge will appear on the tab bar when something important has been improved or added to the app.
• [SHORTCUT] Added a shortcut: you can long-press texts on the Library page to see their options, instead of taping the three buttons.
• [FAQ] Added a big F.A.Q. to the app. Will continue to improve it and add more questions as users email me with questions.
• [ADD TEXT] When adding a text, you are now being offered several methods: type in the text manually, or import files (more to come). After importing files, you can choose to directly edit the file.
• [IPAD] When learning a text on iPad, the page is now full-screen, which makes it much easier to scroll with your thumb in the corner of the iPad.

If you notice any bugs, please let me know, it is normal that with so many changes will come a few new bugs. I can fix them quickly.

If you appreciate the effort on this new version, please take a minute to write a review.
I LOVE receiving a notification from Apple whenever I have a new review to read.

Thank you all, and keep sending me feedback!

• Fixed: there was a button on the page used to select the lines you want to study (in the actor's tool) that discarded the selection. I have removed that button. Thank you Milad!

This is just a little fix, but I have a new giant app update coming soon. Thank you all for your patience!

• Fixed: the Russian character "—" was not properly recognized as a punctation character, it was considered to be a word. This is now fixed. Thank you Alex.
• Fixed: this update might fix the bug where the app tells you you have two items and cannot add more, when you actually only have one. Sorry about that. Please contact me if it still doesn't work.

Aceraceae,
The best app for memorizing text.
Updated one yr later: still the best. This app is well designed, easy to use, and so helpful. I care for my two grandsons (ages 5 and 7 years) and Zoom each week with my two granddaughters (same ages). Every once in a while, I try to learn parts of their favorite songs. However, I mostly use the Memy app to memorize poems and selections from books, again, mostly to entertain the grandchildren. Although my intentions are good, I probably memorize no more than one or two a month. The older grandson was interested yesterday in memorizing a poem, "Herbert Glerbett" by Jack Prelutsky, and I thought I would show him your app. The Memy app is a great way to memorize. If I were a student, I would find it invaluable. If you try it out, you will see how you adjust it so that you only have to remember a few words, and then gradually you learn more and more of the text/script/lyrics until you have memorized it all. I also like the name "Memy" since it reminds me of meme. Customer support is great.
kdkjfsldfjs,
I LOVE THIS APP
This is the smartest line learning app I’ve been able to find, and I’ve tried a TON of clever apps made for performers. The “repeat, repeat, repeat” method never worked for me because my poor lil ADHD mind would get so bored within minutes that my eyes would glaze over. And according to science on memorization, mindless repetition does NOT stick like intentional, effortful learning does. So how do I stay engaged after dozens of times over the same few pages of lines? Enter MemoCoach. This elegant lil app has dozens of methods to switch things up. My favorites so far are hiding random words and hiding entire lines. The best part is that as I’m reviewing, I can reveal what’s hidden without navigating away and supply my brain with instant correction. No more paraphrasing lines or stumbling uncertainly through phrases that I never quite got solidly down. Awesome. Big thanks to the person behind the curtain.
Luca-123,
This is great just a few problems
I absolutely LOVE this app. I had to memorize the preamble and a whole song about the American Revolution for U.S. History and OMG this app helped me so much. I made more progress in one week than I did in one year with this app. Just so you know I totally passed my test!!! Okay now to the not so great things. Almost everything you have to get premium to use. I didn’t get premium but even so this app helped me a lot. There is only one option for non-premium users and that is hide words except the first letter. It still works great but I just wish that there were more options for people on a budget who don’t want to buy premium. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone looking for a quick way to memorize their notes. I have even recommended this app to some of my friends. They love it just as much as I do! Anyway just trust me get this app, but be warned you only have one option (that still works great) for non-premium users.
MarTheStar56,
THIS IS THE BEST APP I HAVE ON MY PHONE
I can’t believe that this app keeps getting better and better and better!!! Kevin incorporates the excellent suggestions from users in his updates (and gives them credit), and there are now 7 more tools to use in memorizing! I have gotten quite a bit faster at my memorization because of some of these! I am thinking particularly of the option where you can see just the first letter of the words—first just with the first word in each and next with the second word in each paragraph—it is genius! I was trying to use this method on my own using my fingers and an index card while on my morning walk, and then I opened the update and there it was in memo coach! SO MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE AND quicker to memorize. And I love the tips on how to memorize.
This is the best app I have on my phone and iPad.
ENDer b0y,
Install now! Amazing!
Great app for memorizing anything. I highly recommend getting this app. So I have a few suggestions that don’t really make the main part of the app better(memorizing things). So it would be cool if there was like a web search bar within the app too get a cool background photo for the thing your memorizing which would make it a whole lot more interesting. And maybe different fonts for words (at least like bold underlined and italicized words). This app is great! Thank you so much for making this app. I look forward to future updates. I hope you read this and look into my suggestions.
frvtnhny,
Awesome app, Here’s a few suggestions
First off let me say this is the best app I’ve ever used for memorizing and I use it every day. If someone’s looking for an organized productive app to memorize lines this is the absolute go to. The recommendations I would say are to 2; first the ability to move your folders around with sub folders. The other would be being able to fit an extremely long script into one text without it running out of space. This app is already amazing and with that it wouldn’t even compare to any other apps
Demigods R epic,
Perfect!
This app is everything I’ve been looking for to keep track of all the verses I’m memorizing. I’ve tried a couple apps that were specifically for that, and in my opinion this is better. Love it!

If you’re ever thinking about features to add, maybe be able to select which texts you would like to have to app cycle through and bring up a few each day for review. It would help you keep it memorized without needing to scrolling down through each individual one. Thank you!
Blotsm,
Great app
This app is simple in its presentation of memorization tools. The tools are right there, easy to see and easy to begin using with a text that you’re trying to memorize. It’s an intuitive and snappy app that works well and has a lot to offer— more than one would expect— with a really pleasant implementation. When something is designed elegantly like this app and also includes excellent functionality, there isn’t really much more to be left wanting. 5 stars, highly recommend.
Jeremyreed89,
Extremely useful!
This is so useful. The free version allows you to remove all but the first letter of each word of a line, starting at the end of each line. Having practiced memorization for years, I already know this is a very effective method - the app allowed me to effortlessly employ it.

I love the ability to paste in documents. Just make sure that each “line” has a real line break, and it pastes into the app perfectly.

Excellent tool!
✨♻️♥️🍓🥑🦋🦊 ☁️🌍✨,
Memy!!
I just got Memy yesterday and I already love it! I love that you can type in your own stuff; since I write silly little books, I also love the feature that you can black out some words, rather than just keep practicing the same exact thing. going along with that, I love how you can control how much you black out, do a few words, a few more, until you finally memorize the whole thing! Thank you, Memy; for the amazing service and providing me with free practice!!
