Very good app for Mastodon
I am very happy with this app as a Voiceover user. It’s functionality is excellent. Unlike the official Mastodon app, this app includes rotor actions that make using it much faster and easier. I have found only two bugs in the app with Voiceover. First, the “load more” button in the timeline view can’t be activated while using Voiceover. Second, when in your list of following or followers, you can’t activate entries to go to the person’s profile page after scrolling past the first few entries in the list. Neither bug is a huge deal though. The only thing that would be nice as an addition would be the ability to view the public timelines of instances you aren’t signed into. Thanks so much to the dev for making such a great and accessible app available for free.

Love this app, sadly…
I love MetaText so much, so much that I had to give it five stars. Unfortunately, the fact that there will no longer be updates is beginning to affect its functionality in a serious way, at least on my fairly large instance. In particular, I am no longer able to use it to search. If I need to search for anyone or anything, I have to use an alternate app or desktop. This is a fairly recent development. MetaText is so easy to use, I still use it anytime I want to post something on the go or just scroll through my feed or one of my lists. But it no longer fulfills ever need, sadly.
As I understand it, the developer had important, personal reasons for needing to leave it behind, so I certainly wish them the very best. I’ll probably keep MetaText until it no longer posts— I just like it that much.

Great app for Mastodon!
This is an excellent alternative to the official Mastodon app! I appreciate the account switching feature! Some features that are available on web version of Mastodon aren’t available in this app though. I’d like the ability to edit my posts and follow hashtags, those two features would make this app even better! I’ve also noticed sometimes the app lags a bit, like when feeds load for several seconds. This may be due to the number of hashtags I’m following, but thought I’d mention it anyway. Sometimes clicking on things (hashtags, profiles, etc.) has a short delay before loading the next page. Aside from all that, I still recommend this app! It’s served me very well so far!

Almost there!
It is almost a perfect app. Improvements would seal perfection, but the developer has been busy lately. App has preferences for media controls, and an option to “read settings from server”, but this is useless. This forces you to select the options in-app and prevents any improvements or settings on the server to apply. Specifically timeline language filters (useless in this app) and CW post display settings on the server are not applied in this app. Unfortunate. Federated server search & their specific server timeline viewing would also be a nice addition. Searches and trending are inconsistent for me as well. Not terribly implemented, but not perfect either.

Best FREE App for Mastodon
This software puts the official Mastodon App to shame. More features, with an attractive, intuitive UX. Anyone migrating from Twitter will feel right at home!
I will say, it is frustrating to have no editing capability for content warning captions here. This is doable both on desktop and in Mastodon for iOS. It also just feels kind of clunky and mindless, when the newsfeed automatically crops every photo to a 5x7 landscape preview.
Overall, the best free-to-download Mastodon experience on iOS. Anxiously awaiting the next update… hoping to see post edits and hashtag follows coming to mobile soon!

By far the best Mastodon client I've used
It's surprisingly hard to find a Mastodon client that supports image descriptions on iOS. Metatext supports them, and it's wonderful on top of that.
Everything works as expected- filters, content warnings, image descriptions, feeds/timelines, etc. The interface is clean and easy to understand, and there's no unnecessary fuss. The content takes center stage. The respect of privacy is also highly appreciated- thank you for both that and making it open source. Free apps that do either and are good quality are hard to find on the iOS store.

A pleasure to use
I’ve been using Metatext for a while and what I really like about it is I have no complaints. Clean and logical design that always works whether I’m posting a two word text update or a super long post with images and video and links to other Mastodon users. Conversations are threaded in a way that’s super easy to understand. And it’s just nice to have such a beautiful user experience that’s private and secure. Love it and I’m curious to see how things develop with each update because each time it just seems to be getting better and better.

Great overall but…
It’s the best looking mastodon app I’ve used so far, but it still bothers me with some minor issues, first was it seems couldn’t remember the view location of the last time when it’s being closed, so when I open it after a while and will just load the latest toots, not ideal. And then when it does open at the last time it’s being closed, it would only get so few toots that I need to tab “load more” every 10 toots or so, quite annoying. Would love to see some fix on those, cuz it really works pretty great otherwise.

Instantly Loved It
This is the app to get if you’re coming from Twitter. I saw other Mastodon apps on here, they’re okay, the free ones are alright. They’re usable. This app Metatext looks beautiful. It feels smooth. Other free Mastodon apps are fine, but this one goes above and beyond in terms of looks and feel. This app seems to get updates too, I’ve seen other apps that haven’t been updated in half a year to a whole year. Thank you for making this, devs!

Clean, very accessible
I have used Metatext for the last month in beta prior to the release. It has quickly become my favorite client for Mastodon/the fediverse.
It puts a strong focus on usability and accessibility - no unnecessary animations, everything looks very normal (with usefully arranged controls wherever possible), image descriptions are easy to write and read, and it doesn’t lose your scroll state. A supremely useful app that gets out of the way & lets you interact with the sweetest folks on quirky social networks, your way.
