Minesweeper Classic is the old game of Minesweeper redesigned for your modern touch-based iPhone and iPad. This version of Minesweeper is visually appealing with quick and intuitive gameplay.
Minesweeper features all the original rules of Minesweeper such as a safe first tap, flags/question marks, original difficulty levels, and proper mechanics.
There's also advanced features such as hints, Smart Undo, and Luck (no more 50:50 guesses!)

If you must guess (as in, there's mathematically no better move to make) and you guess a square that has the least probability to be a mine, then the square won't be a mine.
This means no more losing if you end the game with a 50:50 guess!
(For nerds: think of the game as a superposition of all possible mine states, slowly collapsing as you reveal more of the board, as long as you are making the best moves possible you won't lose!)

Press the hint button if you are stuck.
* Smart Undo
If you lose the game, press the undo button to undo your last move. Incorrectly flagged spots will remain red. Spots that are flagged that don't have enough information to be flags will turn to question marks. The remaining mines will be shuffled to keep the game interesting.

Use 3D Touch (if supported by your device) to flag mines.
Configure sensitivity and toggle between 3D Touch and Long Press to toggle flags.

The goal of Minesweeper is to clear all the spaces without mines. The game is over when all spaces that are not mines are revealed.
To start a new game, press the smiley button.
Tap a square to reveal it.
Hold* a square to flag it, an animation will let you know when it's flagged.
Hold* a square again to unflag it.
Tap a flagged square to toggle it between flag and question mode.
(* If using 3D Touch, firmly tap instead of holding.)
A square with a number lets you know how many of the 8 adjacent squares contain mines.
If a square with a number is touching the correct amount of flags, tap on the number to reveal adjacent squares.
Settings can be viewed by clicking the bar button in the top-left corner.
The timer will be automatically paused when the game is not in focus.

I've been practicing Social Distancing so I've had a lot of time on my hands and wrote some pretty nifty new features:

Good
Easy to use. NO ADS which is really all I wanted. I’d have been willing to pay for no ads, but this is actually free. It’s not the prettiest interface I’ve ever seen (it doesn’t have a 3D effect), but that’s not important to me. It works perfectly and, again, NO ADS. My only gripe is that I wish it could automatically size to display the entire board on the screen instead of having to scroll, but most other versions are the same.

Best Option for Minesweeper
Easy to use and intuitive interface. No ads... just like regular minesweeper. Almost perfect!
I would prefer an option to disable the timer and to show a message when complete but these are very minor.
I thought there was a bug in the count of bombs as another reviewer suggested, but this was before I realized I could scroll the screen over to see the rest of the screen. Now I love it!

Simply the best and ads free!
Thanks a lot for this classic game. Excellent, yet simple and intuitively designed UI and for sure one of the best, totally free of charge, NO ADs! There are various difficulty grades from beginners to experienced professionals, who like brain teasers!
If you look for a nostalgic occupation to feel the past, that could be one of my recommendations.

Free AND No Ads!! Woohoo!
Very seldom do you find games that are 100% free AND have no ads! I am very appreciative of that! That is the reason that I picked this Minesweeper game to download & play. After playing for a bit, I haven’t come across any problems at all. It’s just like playing the game that I used to play on my big ol’ desktop computer many moons ago! 😄 Thank you to the developer for making a good quality game that is free & has no ads! 😍

Completely free, would love a night mode!
This is a perfect little minesweeper game for quick moments, allows for redos, and is actually free. My only possibly critique is that it would be great if there was a night mode, or at least just an option to set the white tiles to black or something. It would make playing at night a lot better. Thank you!

Would be very nice if not for mistakes in the algorithm
Nice, simple interface and no ads. Unfortunately, there are mistakes in the algorithm that make finishing (advanced games at least) impossible. Correct the programming and the game would be wonderful.
For example, a tile in the corner is marked with a '3.' This indicates that all three squares next to it are bombs. However, the tile adjacent to the bomb squares on the other side is frequently marked in a way that implies that the corner tiles are not bombs at all. Not only confusing, but as soon as one uncovers the squares with a logical inconsistency, the game marks one of previously clear bombs as false, causing a forfeit.
For example, a tile in the corner is marked with a '3.' This indicates that all three squares next to it are bombs. However, the tile adjacent to the bomb squares on the other side is frequently marked in a way that implies that the corner tiles are not bombs at all. Not only confusing, but as soon as one uncovers the squares with a logical inconsistency, the game marks one of previously clear bombs as false, causing a forfeit.

The Best Minesweeper App
For anyone looking for just a classic, simple minesweeper, this is the best. I tried at least a dozen different apps and every one just kept frustrating me with ads, freezes, and the overall format. This was a breath of fresh air in comparison. I don’t review often review but with the relief of finally finding a good minesweeper, I couldn’t help myself.

Refreshing
I find it refreshing to find an app that does not drown you in advertisements, and brings back this classic in full. Even better, the only fault I can think of when playing is that the sounds are not to my tastes (I'm more partial to 'clicky' sounds than 'bloopy' myself, though it gives it an even more retro feel). Excellent app overall!

Great Classic
This is great! What’s not to like!? It’s a classic, it’s free, no ads, and navigating through the game is so easy. I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical at first but I took a chance to see if this was a good pick. Turns out it was. I recommend everyone give it a try if you’re looking for a classic Minesweeper experience with a fresh look and feel similar to its original glory.

Really appreciate this game. I like the press and hold for a flag instead having to press somewhere else to toggle plus you can adjust the hold time. Thank you for making this truly free - no cost and no ads. Plus I like the default size that fills the screen with no scrolling.
