GameOfHouses,
Challenging A.I. makes you step up your game!
I have a ton of games on my iphone, mostly ones I paid for, and this free app gets the most play from me!
Initially, even on easy, this game was spanking me hard. I was getting frustrated, I played 20+ games and I never won once!
Then I decided to actually study HOW the A.I was beating me so soundly. I played several games, and really observed the moves the game was making, and started to understand how poorly I was playing against it. Long story short, in the space of one morning I went from NEVER winning, to destroying my opponent every time. When EASY mode was no longer a challenge, I went to MEDIUM and found I could win every time as well. Finally on HARD mode it is killing me again, forcing me to improve my game even more.
Very fun and challenging, I just wish on HARD mode it wouldn't think for quite so long... sometimes it pauses for 30 seconds or longer.
I'm literally HOOKED,
WOW
IF YOU WANT A GAME THAT CHEATS BE MY GUEST A GET THIS
Jedediah,
Excellent game, responsive developer
I've played more games of Othello since downloading this than probably in the whole rest of my life combined. Good game, well-implemented. I like the simple clean look of it, and the optional show-available-moves capability, and the fact that I can play a quick round in ten minutes while waiting in line. On the Hard level, it's a challenging game for me; I can beat it if I set it to show me available moves, but not if I don't. (But I'm very far from being an expert player; ymmv.) I strongly prefer Morocco to the other Othello app currently available, which I downloaded, tried a few times, then deleted--the other one is okay, but this one feels much more polished to me.

And the developer of Morocco is very responsive -- I sent him email to tell him that the game had hung, and he responded quickly with a note asking me to send a screen snap so he could check on whether the problem was the known bug that he had already fixed for the next version.
JSD,
My favorite free game
Those of you who are giving this one star because you can't beat it on easy are really pathetic. First of all, it's really easy on easy. I've never lost to it on easy when I've been paying attention. If you're really stuck, read the wikipedia article about reversi, and try again, that should get you started. Second of all, that's a terrible reason to give a great, free program one star. It's people like you who are ruining the app store ratings system. Anyway, on hard I'm winning about half the time. The other free game - "Othello" is a little tougher to beat for me, but I think its engine is focusing on a different strategy. However that game is fairly buggy, and it hasn't been updated in a long time, while this one keeps getting better. Also, Morocco has a two player mode, which Othello lacks, and me and my girlfriend have long tournaments when we're bored sitting in a theater or an airplane.
quiddity,
Cheater!
Everyone who is complaining that this is too hard needs to read about the strategy of playing the game. That said, a beginner mode would probably be helpful, or maybe a tutorial. Or just do what I did and use Wikiano to read the Wikipedia article on it. Those who say this is not hard enough need to understand that not everyone is a Reversi tournament geek. Perhaps for them a level that is the equivalent of evil Snood would be appropriate. That said, I really like the app. It's simple and addictive during boring situations. My only major problem is that it sometimes cheats and takes 2 turns in a row! It makes me so angry, but then I realize it's a machine and being angry at a machine is silly. This does not happen in easy mode, but the other two levels have the problem. Also the harder the level gets, the longer it takes for the computer to take its turn.
Britinva78,
Best of the bunch
I pitted this game against 'Othello' by having them play each other on hard over two iphones (with users copying their moves) - Morocco was both a quicker and better player. It's main advantage has nothing to do with gameplay though, if you are interrupted with a call in the middle of playing Morocco will save your game, ready for your return - Othello loses the entire thing, which is frustrating.

Morocco also lets you choose your color and has a multiplayer option, Othello may have slicker looking graphics - but Morocco is a better experience!
Brodies,
Spectacular
Solid app. Some may decry its graphics or interface but I'm not exactly what more they expect out of it. Othello is a board game played with black and white pieces on a green board. Aside from missing the bits of wear and tear, Morocco looks almost exactly like my Othello board at home.

The AI is pretty solid but, at least for me, I began to be able to see through it and predict the moves it would make. I can now consistently get a wall in 5 moves, a corner in 7 and can generally predict what it will do in a given situation. It still can beat me, on occasion (especially if I avoid that opening combo), but I'd almost like to see a slightly harder mode.

On the whole, though, Morocco is a ridiculously solid application. This is by far the game that I spend the most time with (even with it seeming a bit easy).
bbum,
Great game, great implementation, computer play is weak.
Though the computer based opponent's play is weak, I'm giving this game 5 stars because the implementation is clean, well presented, and quite pleasant to interact with.

If you want to play against another human or are learning the game, this game is great. If you are an advanced player (or a slightly above average player like myself), you should be able to crush the computer in short order, regardless of settings. And advanced players should likely find it to be a bit of fun to figure out the computer's weakness in the process.

Great game. I had quite a bit of fun playing it.
Dimwhit,
Very solid game
I downloaded this and Othello, both of which are quite good. The best part about Morocco is that the hard setting really is hard. I've never worked so hard to beat a computer version of this game than I have with Morocco. It's not quite as 'pretty' as Othello, but it still looks quite nice. The two changes I'd like to see is to turn off by default the features that shows you all possible moves, and I'd REALLY like an undo. It's too easy to hit the wrong square on these games, and an undo takes care of that. Otherwise, this is a great game.
n[ate]vw,
Can't believe it's still free!
I still really enjoy this game, though it was one of the first apps I got when the store opened. The AI levels are great for my skills - Easy for when I'm bored, Medium for when I want a good hearty match and Hard for when I want to really accomplish something and don't mind failing several times first ;-)
The Person-Person mode is great for playing with my wife. The graphics are great, the interface is clean, and the gameplay is smooth — and you can't beat the price!
