"My Animal Box" is a creation of Apps with love – Mobile Application Studio from Switzerland. The iPad App is a special picture book: The animal figures are arranged in a line on a white background. By swiping left or right you move the animal scenery to discover new animals. If you tap on a animal, it will make a sound and you can see its name. If you tap longer, you can move the animal wherever you want. The app can do even more: You can draw with your fingers on the screen with different colors and create your own animal scene. Don't you also like to draw in your picture book?
The animals
Animals, such as a lion, a cow, a kangaroo, a dog or a penguin, are taken from one of the biggest animal figure collections in the world, where some of the figures are over 70 years old! The collection was started by Swiss artist, author, and actor Kaspar Fischer as a child, and is maintained today by his daughter the artist Agnes Fischer. Kaspar is the son of the painter and «Pitschi»-drawer Hans «fis» Fischer.
The music
The gentle music is produced by Lullatone from Japan. They are an art, music, and good ideas group who have created lots of nice tunes for children and adults. Currently they are working on their ninth album.

Animal Box
Great disappointment! Doesn't deliver what is implied, like lots of animals. No real animal images or coloring pages but Thetis of animal figures... You can draw colored lines around the photos but no scenery or space to draw scenes and interactions. Ok for youngest of readers, but no skill development to grow with... Needs work. Music is pleasant.

I downloaded this for my iPad cause I babysit my nephew every week and I thought the screenshots looked pretty interesting.
It has an artistic touch. All the animals are taken from a Swiss artist's personal collection. I think that's kinda different and cool.
I personally hate the usual slick (modern day) Disney animation stuff !
But here is what counts:
My little nephew loves it! He was mesmerized right away and was sooo quite for a full half hour (Nice!).
He is 4 and had no problem navigating through "his animal story". It was cute.
There are endless possibilities to invent stories and even I gave it a go. I found the animals to be very detailed and natural looking. I like that there's no preset direction. It really sparks creativity I think. You can invent a completely different story each time you use it and therefore it seams my nephew never gets bored of it. Much better than a toy that just does ONE thing. Anyways, I recommend it if you haven't noticed ;). $1.99 well spend!
