Myeloma Response is an educational medical calculator to illustrate the response assessment to Multiple Myeloma treatment. Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterised by the neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells producing a monoclonal immunoglobulin. This clone proliferates in the bone marrow and can lead to skeletal destruction as well as damage to various organs (e.g. renal failure). The International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) has developed consensus response criteria, which are used to measure the effect of treatment. These criteria are very complex and this educational medical calculator demonstrates the interdependency of the different variables. Uniform assessment of response categories is important to guide clinical care and to ensure consistent reporting of clinical trials.
