Best in the Industry!
Digital scuba learning is made easier by the MySSI app. Start on a phone or tablet and switch to a computer and maintain your place. Add to it the ability to log and certify dives and you have the dive industries best app so far for learning and recording your dives. Another great feature is maintaining your free certification cards in the app. No other training agency has met the “App World” with anything better.

10 years ago I took a class to become certified at the time I did not know that I would not be able to dive again for 10 years. A lot has changed and the dive shop where I took my lessons closed down. even Dutch Springs where I did my open water close down. it was a lot easier and cost-effective to use the app. there appears to be new and improved sign language and other ways of doing things. in some respects I prefer the manual way of entering my information for my dialogue rather than using a computer this computer thing is being explained in this app which I do not have access to the Dive computer. so the app helps in that respect.

Good app! But...
Listen. This feels like looking a gift horse in the mouth considering how broken/outdated most online scuba resources are. MySSI is at least up to 2012 while the others peaked in the 90s. Everything functions just fine! It's just slow because instead of streaming the data from their servers, the user has to download it. Fine! Sure!
My biggest gripe is how tedious the log book is. I wish it could import CSV data or literally any data output that dive computers or Subsurface spit out. It'll connect to certain Mares brand bluetooth dive computers (convenient for them considering Mares owns SSI) but like... c'monnnnn...!!

Updated app, now it won’t even open. Ugh.
I started using this app in the fall of 2021 when I got back into SCUBA diving when my oldest child was getting certified. We are going diving tomorrow so I wanted to double check a few things and was prompted to download an update. So I downloaded it and now the app won’t even open. This is very frustrating! My child’s app works just fine on their phone, but nothing is working on my phone. I can still log in on the website, so I’m very co fused as to why the app won’t even open.

One of the best dive apps
Love this app…tracks my trainings, logs my dives, easy to use, easy to share dive profile info with buddies, loads of info on already logged dive sites, training videos/course work extremely well, and you won’t forget your dive log or certification cards at home when you’re on a trip. Access ALL your proof of training on the app or online. SSI is the way to go!!!

Great learning tool
I started diving in 1998. It was the dark ages. We used something called a books. Now that I am increasing my trainer level to be cavern and cave certified there is e-learning. I had no issue moving through the modules. The content was great and I found it very informative and it helped me score well on all the chapter tests. Good leaning process that I would recommend to all divers.

Well thought out and easy to navigate
I’ve really enjoyed my conversion over to SSI. The learning is so easy and straight forward as is keeping track of my levels and certifications. Also super easy to track dives especially if you have a Mares computer.

Programmers don’t actually use the app
First if you happen to dive a site that is not already in the system you must create a site. Not a problem except you need a name, address, lat/long, and region! Really??? It is in the middle of the Caribbean! What address is that? I was on a dive boat what is the latitude and longitude. You have to make up crap or guesstimate using google.
If you don’t select a site you can only save as a draft! Not actually log the dive!
After logging a dive you hit save and it does save. Not save and exit. Which means you hit the back button to get out. Where it asks if you want to save. - then you get an error that the dive number already exists.
Heaven forbid your screen goes to sleep while entering a dive. If so the next time you enter a dive time you can Ott exit that screen.

Deleted all logged dives
I really did find the app super useful and since I didn’t always have my log book with me on long travels, being able to enter and track everything on the app was great. However the app updated and suddenly all of my trainings besides my initial open water and all of my logged dives are gone. I can’t seem to restore them and my screen has a beautiful 0 logged dives. It’s definitely a sad lesson to track on paper and digital but I’ve lost so much info :(

More customizable
This app is really nice and user friendly.
My one note is it would be a lot nicer if there was something you could change in settings to make the animal section specifically, formatted like the notes section. This would be nice as it seems that they don’t have every animal in their log system, and its also fun to add a note why seeing the animal was special to the dive.
