Description

"Great!!! This is a fantastic and very practical application! This app is well worth it! 5 stars!"

"This app has proven to be very helpful for multiple children on my caseload who have difficulty using expanded descriptive language. 5 stars!"

Naming Therapy is the best-selling word-finding app to help people with aphasia and children with special needs practice important naming and description skills.

Designed by a Speech-Language Pathologist for use in the home and clinic, this app features beautiful photos, real voice, and full customization with over 700 words included!

***Try it for FREE as part of Language Therapy Lite***
***One of four full apps included in Language Therapy***

This app has 4 parts:
1) Naming Practice: 400+ pictured nouns with an evidence-based cueing hierarchy and optional self-scoring, with the option to add your own photos and cues. The app records which cue was used to get the correct answer and produces a score report for email. Use different cues within Naming Practice to target confrontation naming, responsive naming, phrase completion, repetition, and oral reading.

2) Describe: 580+ pictures with 4-6 semantic & 4 phonemic question prompts for semantic feature analysis, phonological components analysis, and expanding expression skills. You can add your own words and select from 25 prompts to go with them. Icons representing questions prompting for information about the appearance, category, function, shape, size, color, taste, location and more surround each picture. Target sound knowledge by hearing prompts for first and last sound, rhyming words, and syllables.

3) Naming Test: a set presentation of 30 pictures with scoring and a report. This is a non-standardized test intended for screening a person's ability to name common items. It contains common and less common items of the categories contained in this app. A perfect screener!

4) Flashcards: 700+ clear, full-color pictures including verbs and adjectives; touch to hear the spoken word or see the printed word with the ability to add your own pictures. Use the verb pictures to create sentences or implement response elaboration training.

Features:
*Limit words by syllable length to just practice the short ones or target the longer ones - perfect for apraxia
*Real recorded male voice provides a neutral accent in 5 languages with slow, natural speech for easy comprehension
*Child-friendly mode turns off references to alcohol and violence and deactivates links to outside sites on the home screen

atklingensmith,
Great app--age appropriate for preschool through adulthood
I originally bought this app to 1. get a better idea of how Tactus TherAppy apps performed, and 2. use it in presentations for speech-language pathology graduate students. I quickly realized how useful the app would be in my job as an itinerant speech-language therapist for preschoolers. I started by mostly using the "naming practice" portion. As I explored the app more, I realized how useful the "naming test" section was for objective data collection--I gave it to a couple children at the beginning of a quarter and then gave it again so I could easily get an objective measure of their progress. The "describe" section uses the concept of semantic feature analysis to strengthen semantic relationships. I haven't really used the "flashcards" section with my clients.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the app. It is easy to navigate, incorporates evidence-based techniques, and gives me an easy, objective way to take data. Very few apps I've encountered are age-appropriate for both adults and preschoolers. I will be working in a medical setting later this year and cannot wait to try out the app with adults with aphasia!
Rick rocket,
For expressive aphasia
My wife had a stroke March 2011 and has moderate-severe expressive aphasia. This app is quite good for helping her recover her speech. It is professionally done and is easy to use. The price is reasonable.

We use the naming practice which has the option of cueing words by having the user complete a sentence, showing the first letter, spelling the word, describing the word, and sounding the beginning of the word. It has a substantial list of nouns. The user can select one or more categories to work on at the same time.

You really cannot get enough professional SLP hours on most insurance. NamingTherapy enables a non-professional to provide additional support for recovery.
Anxiously Awake,
great app with beautiful photographs!
I float around between multiple assisted living and skilled nursing buildings as well as home health with my iPad always in my bag. This is by far the app I use most for adults with aphasia as well as those in our dementia units to name functional objects, this app is second best to real objects! I also use it as a barrier task during dysarthria treatment where I have the patient describe as much about the photograph as I assess their intelligibility. The naming test is great as a mini-assessment you can record along with other assessments during progress notes for G-Codes.
SpeechTherapist,
Wonderful App!
I had put off purchasing this app for a while because I didn't want to spend the money. When I finally caved, I was SO glad I did! This app has been great for both my pediatric as well as geriatric clients. There are so many options and and ways to customize that you can really use it for just about anyone! With such emphasis on data and accountability, this app really goes the distance in therapy and is well worth the money!!
Flipgalrn,
Thank You!!
My husband had a stroke earlier this year and I searched all over looking for apps that I could use on my iPad and found Therappy! We used this naming one on a daily basis and even recommended it to our speech therapist to use for her patients. Thank you for making such a wonderful app & series. As of today my husband's aphasia has improved dramatically and I credit part of it to these apps! Thank you!

Naming TherAppy
This app has proven to be very helpful for multiple children on my caseload who have difficulty using expanded descriptive language. The visual supports are subtle but available when needed. I especially appreciate the functional vocabulary and how it is divided into categories. This is a nicely organized and professionally developed app that I'm glad I added to my tool box.
Lindseydaniella,
Most used app
This is by far one of my most used apps in my clinical practice as a SLP and one of my most recommended apps as well. I love not having to carry a huge deck of cards around the hospital, and the patients are thrilled to use an iPad. Even some of the doctors have requested we "show them the pictures." But the part I love the MOST is the way the app collects data for me. HUGE time saver!

Pamela, SLP
This app is an excellent resource for SLPs working with adults with aphasia who want to utilize materials other than paper flash cards! It will also be helpful for patients/families who have an iPhone/iPad and want to continue this app for their home exercise program. Awesome that an SLP is finally creating useful apps for therapy. Keep up the good work!
Twittysb,
Used often
I used this app in a SNF setting during my internship. I look forward to using it again during my CF. Its so nice to just have an app to carry around instead of worrying about papers! I love the percentage feature to find out and chart any improvement I may observe.
ozarkspeechie,
Wonderful app!
Before this app came along I think I had about 6 different apps to target confrontational naming for a variety of photos. This app has it all and it's my 'go-to' now. The photos are high quality and the app is easy to navigate. 5 stars!
