Why Choose NeuraCache?

Have you ever read a book or an article, made notes and highlights, only to forget everything weeks later? Does that remind you of the invaluable insights from the book you read last year? Meanwhile, your stack of notes keeps expanding. Imagine having a simple process to leverage your brain's built-in memory systems to secure information into your long-term memory circuits, thereby retaining everything you read and learn forever. NeuraCache is the solution to this problem.

How does it work?

NeuraCache employs two scientifically proven and time-tested techniques: Spaced Repetition and Active Recall (otherwise known as Flashcards).

NeuraCache initiates Spaced Repetition for each card from your notes. When the time is right, our algorithms will prompt an initial review - "How well do you remember?"

Your recall performance (based on the SuperMemo2 adaptive pattern) then determines the next Spaced Repetition step. It could be on the same day or even in 6 months. If you prefer, you can manually review the notes in the app at any time. You can also employ built-in static patterns like "review in 1, 5, 15, 30, 60 days".

To achieve maximum effect, set up an Active Recall question and attempt to answer the question before revealing the contents of your card/note.

Your privacy is our top priority.
We never access or read your notes' content. Your data is securely stored only on your device.

No sign-up required. Simply install and start using it instantly.

NicFits,
Finally, a modern flash card app
NeuraCache represents a modern class of apps. Rather than taking on the burden of “doing everything” — managing creation of content, sync to devices, and display and assessment — NeuraCache integrates with your existing content systems, syncs via iCloud, and focused on the “last mile”: a great UI to display and challenge memory recall on flash cards.

This is a massive breath of fresh air, in an area that has frankly stagnated. You’ll be comparing this against Anki, the gorilla app of the category. But the Anki app UX is frankly immensely dated and old school. It is not a joy to use. NeuraCache makes the excellent choice: why not use your existing note taking system that you already love? And with that, it steps the whole field forward.

You can use NeuraCache in different ways. In its original, “quick” style, regular notes that you wish to be tested or reminded on can be easily added in, with a simple markdown format. So in a page of notes, you can highlight three or four items for NeuraCache to pick up.

I use it in the more traditional, “here’s a flash card” style, where I’ve created a folder of flash cards for it to sync. This is easier for me to manage, iterate, and isolate. But I appreciate greatly the roots of the app and its flexibility.

Very highly recommended.
ZPOPO3249,
I have been looking for EXACTLY this
I don’t review often, but this app is so good that I would shout it from the rooftops if I could!! Trying to keep up with the influx of medical school material while learning it and making flash cards is tough. I take notes on one note, but I struggled constantly to copy and paste into anki. And if I changed my notes, I have to always manually input the change in anki. That takes so much time, and in med school, time is precious. This is where NeuraCache comes in. The BEAUTIFUL sync between OneNote and this app makes my life SO easy. I’m days ahead of fellow classmates because I’m not spending hours copying and pasting but rather, I’m jumping right to learning those flashcards. This app has improved my workflow substantially.

Also, the layout is really aesthetic. And it seems like really awesome functions like cloze cards are in the pipeline, so I’m excited to see where this app goes. I can’t go back to Anki now that I have this!

of Note:
- still testing out the efficacy of the spaced repetition algorithm. Maybe it’s my years of doing “Due” cards but in this app, what limits you seems to only be the Queue Limit and not a timed “Due”.
- I do wish there is a desktop version/web of this so I could not be doing the flashcards on my phone. Besides this, fantastic app.
qeurdnzi,
Solves so many pain points
This is an incredibly well thought out app. It solves the issue of spaced repetition lacking in so many of our favorite apps. The importing process is snappy and so intelligent. You can even update cards on in your favorite service (Notion, Evernote, plain markdown, etc.), and all prior progress is still synced.

As a primary Craft user, I hope you guys can add batch flashcards for Craft soon!

Fantastic Markdown Flashcard App
This is hands down the best Markdown Flashcard app. The UI is intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. The privacy policy is fantastic. There are a few bugs here and there, but they don’t detract from the experience.

What does detract from the experience, however, is the price. In order to use the useful learning tools (specifically for me, the “re-review read” feature), a monthly subscription of $3.99 is required. While I enjoy the app, I don’t think this is a fair value proposition. I’ve paid a one time purchase price of $10 for apps that do infinity more than this one. $50 per year for flashcards just doesn’t make sense to me. My preference would be to see a one-time purchase price option offered.
Bryce McAlister,
Syncing bug
There’s been an bug in the app for months now in which the syncing to an obsidian folder will malfunction and has made it somewhat unusable. You will open the app one day with all of your cards gone and their will only be about 10 or so left. When you refresh, all of the cards come back but they will all have the same import date. So if you sort by oldest first, they will all just show up in a random order. What ever cards you were already working on will just show up in a random place later in the queue. This will happen to me about every week or so now. I’ve mentioned this in the subreddit a couple times and the app creator would respond to everything but this. Not sure why

Love the premise of this app!!! However, I have one concern that I think the developers could/should address. In the app & under the “cards” tab, there should be a way to organize our cards so that us users don’t have one single huge list of cards— say I want to have vocabulary Flashcards for different subject matter or Flashcards with math problems, well under this current version of the app, all of my Flashcards are grouped together and if I want to find a specific flashcard, I now have to go through all my cards to find the correct one.
NoRefund17,
Amazing and just getting better
Ever since the most recent update I’m super excited to use this amazing app. So nice to be able to make flash cards easy and seamlessly right there within my note taking app. And now that you can sync markup folders, it works super fluidly with obsidian files.

If they add one drive support I’ll freak out. But I can’t take a star away for that because it’s just too good. I’ll live with iCloud for now.
readyokaygo,
Second Brain SRS
I am so grateful this app exists. PLEASE don’t stop development on it because nothing else comes even close to integrating so well with a Second Brain. I love that I am not duplicating information anymore between my note taking app and my flash card app. Users of Evernote, Obsidian, Logseq, Roam, etc. need to download this app.
Sfgfann,
Great but a little buggy when used with Evernote
I have never used any other app of this kind so no comparative judgment, but on its own, I have just a few cons when used with Evernote: 1. not quite seamless syncing all the time, 2. display issue when used with iPhone in the night mode. There are work arounds for either bugs so, not fatal in any way. Bottom line, the app is great.
Abh1jeet,
Great app!
This is an amazing app, simple to use and works well. This makes it really easy to review notes and the repetition helps a lot with retention. Wish it allowed direct sync with onedrive or a way to import markdown files from one drive. As if now I have to move notes from onedrive to icloud to the app. And have to redo the import every time a note is updated. Other then multi step sync process I am loving it.
