Description

A worldwide App Store Editors’ Choice. “Stunningly poignant - and quite brilliant. 10/10.” - Eurogamer

“Ki” is the Iñupiaq word for “Let’s Go!”, and now you can play the award-winning indie hit on the go with Never Alone: Ki Edition.

Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is an atmospheric puzzle platformer developed in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people, drawn from a traditional story that has been shared across the generations. Experience the epic journey of Nuna and Fox as they search for the source of an eternal blizzard that threatens the survival of everything they have ever known.

Guide both characters as you trek through frozen tundra, leap across treacherous ice floes, swim through underwater caverns and face enemies both strange and familiar.

On over 75 "Best of 2014" lists and winner of "Best Debut Game" at the 2015 BAFTA Games Awards as well as "Game of the Year" and "Most Significant Impact" at the 2015 Games for Change Awards, nearly 40 Alaska Native elders, storytellers and community members contributed to the making of Never Alone.

You'll explore awe-inspiring environments, perform heroic deeds and meet legendary characters from Iñupiaq stories — all narrated by a master storyteller in the spoken Iñupiaq language.

Features

Reimagined for mobile -- Never Alone: Ki Edition includes every level and all the excitement of the original game enjoyed by millions of PC and console players around the world. We’ve updated the game for mobile devices, adding brand-new touch controls, menus and hints along with optimized graphics and AI that bring the beauty of Never Alone’s ethereal, arctic environments to phones and tablets.

Play as both Nuna and Fox — switch between the two companions at any time as you rely on the unique skills of each character to succeed in your quest. Nuna can climb ladders and ropes, move heavy obstacles, and throw her bola at targets to solve puzzles. Fox can fit through small areas that Nuna can't reach, scramble up walls, and jump to great heights.

Explore the harsh world of the Arctic — run under, through, and atop the unstable structures of an abandoned coastal village. Explore the eerily quiet treetops of a mysterious, frozen forest. Brave the fierce winds of the eternal blizzard. Only with the aid of Helping Spirits will Nuna and Fox have any chance of survival in a land where survival seems impossible.

Unlock fascinating video insights — Elders, storytellers, and other members of the Alaska Native community share stories and wisdom about their culture, values and the amazing Arctic world encountered by players in over 30 minutes of interviews.

Customizable controls — Adjust the sensitivity or select an alternate layout for the game’s onscreen controls. For those who prefer a physical controller, the game also supports MFi devices.

Support for 17 languages — Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (European/Latin America) and Swedish.

GabD.,
Absolutly beautiful and amazing!
The game's graphics and details are absolutely stunning. The little details make the game so much more realistic. However, even if the game was so addicting and beautiful it was so short by the time it ended it left me wanting more. I wanted to know about about what happened at the ending. This game deserves a five star rating for its story line alone. There were a few glitches like with controlling the fox near the middle/end, but it's still pretty ok to control. I recommend this game to people who pay attention to graphics and storyline a lot. It's also like limbo in some ways the controls except much more beautiful and in depth with its story. Please play this game! 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Golden Kawaii egg,
Cool game but don't buy it
The game has great graphics, storyline, and characters but theres so many things wrong with it. The first problem is it's really confusing on how to play. Every chapter there's a new things to learn about the controls. The controls are also really wonky. The second thing is that it's kind of expensive for what it's actually worth. The game is kind of like a demo it's not complete. The third and final thing I will be stating is it's a short almost demo type game. After you finish the chapters it takes you back to the start and you just replay the game there's not another level there's not another story it's just the same story over and over. This really frustrates me because I thought it's going to be a really fun game to have multiple different stories. Since I bought the game I hope they make updates and bring new stories into the game because that would be a waste of money if it's just one gameplay. There's a bunch of other games you could've bought with the money that you paid for this game so it really makes me mad. I finished the game today and I was expecting it to bring me to another story or another section or chapter but I just brought me back to the start screen and once I press play it restarts the whole story>:( sorry this was a long review but just wanted to inform people who wanted to buy it:)

Beautiful game, wonderful adventure!
I was a little weary when I read some a review saying the controls were a bit wonky as from watching gameplay, I knew you had to switch between characters and certain controls that give each character their own abilities. Still, I couldn’t pass on this beautiful story and upon downloading it I found that the controls were easy to navigate and I had absolutely no issues. I just finished the game, and it was just as good, if not better than expected. Also, the cultural insights into the Inupiat people is such an interesting and beautiful feature. Download it!

Blown away
This game is incredible. You play as an Iñupiat girl and her Arctic Fox companion as they journey to find the source of a blizzard that has precluded her village from hunting caribou, which they need to survive.

Throughout, you score “cultural insights,” 1-2-minute pieces of documentary footage that deepen your cultural understanding of the Iñupiat, their traditions and stories, and their relationship with their environment. You have to find the hidden owls to gain them, so you end up working hard to learn about them. I missed three of them by the time I was done, and I went back and replayed the levels to find them all.

It’s gorgeously done, front to back; it’s challenging; it’s so smart. And I CRIED AT ONE POINT BECAUSE I WAS SO MOVED

My only criticism is that sometimes the controls don’t work as expected, even when I changed the level of joystick sensitivity, so there were moments of frustration when I had to replay some scenes several times because I couldn’t get the fox to clamber up a wall properly.

Magical and A bit dark
A lot of games I'd describe as 'magical' are lighthearted and safe. This platformer reminds me of a mix of Limbo (can be sad and dark with constant deaths, and the gameplay), with Out of this World (realistic physics and movement) and also Ghost Trick a little. The characters are gorgeous. The controls are great but there's only so much you can do with a touch Dpad. I am almost finished but I get so frustrated playing platform games on a touchscreen. I would love to play on a controller. The cultural fact additions are great and I love the narrators voice in native tongue. The snow animation is beautiful.
Thanks for putting on sale
Michelle00721!,
Absolutely incredible. BUY IT!
I just read a review that said it is confusing to play... It literally tells you in big white font what is going on while you play the game. So disregard the idiot review.

The game is TRULY incredible. It’s absolutely captivating from the second your eyes lay on the beautiful graphics. I adore that it is a strong, young heroine that ties in not only a beautiful, true storyline but basically tiny snippets of documentaries. You have the option to watch or not watch. It’s a game you look forward to coming home and relaxing with.

Beautiful!! Bravo developers!
Lps cool lover,
Wow
This was, and HAS to be, the BEST game ever created!! I really hope there's another part to it!

This game had everything in it!

Challenges!
Emotions!
Puzzles!

You name it!

Defiantly emotions, I about cried when I saw Fox die, I was so relieved to see he was okay!

The only small thing that bugs me, which isn't so bad, more or less funny, but- when you switch to Fox, the spirit, K would sometimes be.. really stupid. She'd run to the edge- and jump off when ever a flew out to get a spiritual bubble.

Other thank that- the games' great! I'm so glad I caught it before it went back to its original price, though, either way. I still would have bought it. The cover looks great, the graphics, controls, everything! And just being able to switch between the two was so creative!

I don't think any game can beat this in my top 3. Because this is #1!!

Sweet storyline, lovable characters, finicky controls
This is a gorgeous game. It’s obvious the developers put a lot of love and energy into this game. I loved the inclusion of the spirits as a key element of the game.

However, as others have said, the controls are super finicky right when you need them to be reliable. When I try to do a wall jump to escape a polar bear, I really need the jump button to work properly every single time. Unfortunately, my frustration over the controls was such that I had to quit playing and won’t get to experience the end of the story for myself. At least there are plenty of walkthrough videos out there.

Annoying controls and game
It's so beautiful, and I love the concept. I've been waiting for this game to come to mobile, then waiting for the price to drop. Thank God I only paid $1 for it, because I played for maybe an hour (spread over a week) before deleting it. The response to the controls is too slow and not sensitive enough. The fox jumps off cliffs when on auto control. And other than that the gameplay just isn't interesting enough for me to stick it out. Again, the game is really pleasant to look at. But I just didn't enjoy playing.

Amazing but frustrating
I bought this game after playing Playdead’s Inside because I was looking for more amazing side-scroll games. This game is incredible - amazing graphics, good story, and the cultural insights were really cool. However, the controls drove me out-of-my-mind frustrated, especially the controls involving moving and jumping. It lagged a lot, and often out of nowhere I’d be unable to move. This caused me many deaths that I could have otherwise avoided. Fix the controls and I’d give this five stars. It’s also not really worth the price. But, it’s still worth playing.
