Description

The New Innovations mobile app is designed for graduate medical education (GME) Residents and Fellows, and undergraduate medical education (UME) students in today’s clinical learning environment. GME users can utilize Work Hours, Procedure Privileges, Procedure Logging, Evaluations and a QR code scanner for conference attendance tracking. UME users can also access Evaluations and the QR code scanner with more yet to come. Free from the constraint of returning to a desk or workstation, trainees can now engage with the key features of the New Innovations suite anywhere!

Please Note: Most features of New Innovations are accessible and compatible with current mobile web browsers.

The app delivers a secure, persistent log-in that requires users to sign in once, and then only again after 30 days of inactivity. All users must have a valid New Innovations log-in.

WanabMD,
Disappointing.
I had great hope for this application and I have been waiting for it for years. The current version allows you to log duty hours and see your privileges but does NOT allow you to log procedures or see how many you have logged. the UI is nice but without the functionality of being to log procedures and do evaluations of my attendings I think the app is severely lacking.

NewInnovations, Please consider updating to allow the logging of procedures. At this point it’s easier for me to log into a computer and log via the website.

Needs work
Switched from MedHub to new innovations by HCA mandate. The NI app needs more detail and simplification for hour logs. MedHub was easier to quickly log hours via a single scroll wheel each day instead of opening different wheels for start and stop time and work out type. This makes it unnecessarily cumbersome to log a weeks worth of hours in one sitting. Also MedHub checked for hour violations and showed weekly totals on screen as well as check boxes for all hours criteria (total hours, 24 hours off each week, post call days, etc.). NI should add this. NI could also improve on this by making the hours compliance checks a 4 week average rather than MedHub which was only checking one week at a time. This is the primary function of the mobile app and could be much more sleek and user friendly
Macaddict06,
Finally an app but poor execution
Still a pain to log hours. There are way better ways to do this. Scrolling through the hour and minute wheels takes too long and often inadvertently hits the OK button prematurely. Additionally, you can only log hours +/- 2 days from today which isn’t particularly helpful. A calendar view like the native iCal would be more intuitive.
DrKBooth,
Good start
I love tracking hours here. Maybe build in notification reminders to log. Also the procedures only shows what I’m signed off on. It doesn’t show what procedures I am making progress towards. Would be nice to have x/y needed or a loading type status bar or percentage maybe? And would be nice to log procedures directly from the app, complete evaluations, sign evaluations, see calendars. Basically limit the need for desktop access to once a month or so. But yea good start!
Bmw2000i,
Clunky interface
Having to use new innovations to log hours feels like a punishment. Why would you not give the option to use the same time range from the previous day? After every entry the date scrolls back to an earlier date. Give the option for work type to have a default. We moved from medhub, and for all of its faults, I appreciate it more than ever after using NI. Have the developers ever tried to use their own app? Essentially, they have no motivation to fix a design UI in an app we are forced to use.
ekabil,
Very handy for duty hours, but...
...you can only log hours for the past 3 days! Why can’t we log hours further back in the past? I am curious why the app would be limited in this manner. Otherwise, it is really helpful and easy to use. Can’t speak for the procedures logging because my program doesn’t make us record procedures in new innovations, just duty hours.
cabe 1,
Classic NI fail
Only for logging hours. No procedure logging you can only reference old procedures. Logging hours on this is a nightmare as you have to scroll through thousands of institutions to find your institution every single day that you log your hours. No ability to search or favorite... Calendar only shows A five day stretch. You can only log three days retrospectively unless you go through a back door and take a whole bunch of time. All in all this is a classic New Innovations product. More difficult to use then a hand plow in a parking garage.
Sameer4,
Useful but limited
Being able to log hours via a mobile app is a huge improvement and feels like a long time coming. However this is somewhat limited by the inability to log more than 2 days in the past. Would like the ability to log further back as well i.e. the same functionality as the desktop interface

Good, needs tweaking
Simple design and able to put in work hours and procedures but better functionality of seeing more than just a few days, maybe a list that is scrollable to ensure you have previous days in work be helpful. Hoping they will be able to add scanning of QR codes for conferences, etc so we can have a running tab on attendance records too.
ndgaines,
Not usable for evals
The format of the evals is not usable- it doesn’t reformat for a phone interface so you have to scroll horizontally to see the full question and only small parts appear at a time. You can’t tell what rating you’re giving because the check boxes don’t line up with the content of the score. Was really hoping this would speed up my ability to keep up with evals but it’s completely useless as is.
