Internet Zen
Big pros: 1. Everything is just smooth, clean, and works so well. 2. Keyboard functionality on Mac is handy. 3. The appearance customization is excellent. Menu bar, dock icon, notifications, thumbnails, lines of text, spacing, etc is all so great. 3. The timeline view is handy for certain use cases, like viewing news broadly or browsing movie releases. Features I'd request for the future (to keep up with other reader apps and the personal knowledge management trend): 1. Custom read/unread keep dates for different folders. 2. Subfolders, please!!! You'd be a pioneer for RSS readers. 3. Bionic reading. 4. PDF import. 5. Highlights/annotations, with a smart folder of all highlighted articles. 6. The ability to copy all highlights or sync them to note apps like Obsidian. 7. Rules/filtering, like including or excluding specific keywords. 8. Newsletter functionality, like an auto-generated email to be able to send newsletters to the app. 9. Text to speech audio that works during phone lock. Auto-jumps to next post. 10. Tagging, such as manually setting them when adding the RSS. 11. Reading progress for abandoned articles. Maybe in the post preview or in their own top folder/section, with the percentage that is complete for the post. Thanks again for everything in the app so far, it's a pleasure to use!
Keggman12,
Love this app
I have been using various RSS readers for many many years at this point using aggregators like feedly after google shut their RSS service down. I have been using the Reeder app for iOS and Mac for the most part (also excellent) but I moved everything over to this app. I love that it illuminates the dependency on feedly, end it works seamlessly and like butter across all of my iOS devices. Meanwhile the RSS reader features are great as well including the various ways to mark articles as read Amongst all the other configuration options. I am looking forward to a little bit more functionality on the watch app as I like to use that when I’m waiting in line at a store or at a stoplight or whatever. Nice job developers
~bc,
Finally. This is it.
Wow. Finally. I'm a UI snob. I've used RSS since it was developed. I've used the iPad since is was introduced, and instantly I realized it was the perfect RSS reading device. And now, after all this time, I've finally found an app that meets my expectations. I wanted something that uses as much core Apple technologies and UI style as possible. I wanted flexible themes text sizes. I didn't want the UI to be "unique". The best design is "invisible" meaning you don’t notice it because you're fully engaged with your task, and it's not getting in your way. This is it. It's not without fault. Putting feeds in folders is a total pain. But that's something you do rarely. I'm giving it a pass and 5 stars because it is much better than the competition, and allowed me to drop an aggregator subscription. I even had an excellent interaction with support (the dev himself) when I couldn't figure out my OPML file. He showed me what I was doing wrong. Bravo.
astroclubguy,
Something happened and it simply stopped working
UPDATE: I finally had to delete this app from all my devices because it simply began refusing to sync. Sometimes I would let it go for an hour and it would not sync my feeds. The app would lock up and I would have to force quit. It also cause some websites to think I was a robot trying to access the site and force me to solve a captcha just to read an article. My other news readers don’t do this. I tried EVERYTHING I could find on the dev’s website and nothing. I have no idea what happened but this clean, efficient app simply does not work any longer on my iPhone, iPad, or iMac. Sorry I had to abandon it.

This, quite simply, the best RSS news reader I have ever seen. With two very reasonable, non-subscription purchases, I have News Explorer running on EVERY Apple device I own. No third party account is needed (uses iCloud for syncing). Responses from the dev are quick, helpful, and friendly. Please support this developer and product.
Ampersando,
Absolutely worth the price
I tried a couple of RSS readers and settled on this one. It took me a bit to configure the app to my liking, but after you get it set up it just works. The interface is customizable, articles are comfortable to read, and there’s no subscription. Your data just syncs with iCloud. The watch app is greatly appreciated too, it can show full article text and works well. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten more value out of an app, I use it every day and don’t regret it
FM_M,
Great app just keeps improving
Great News reader. Period. Hands down, best I’ve been able to find, and the best since Net NewsWire circa 2009. Structured list reading however *you* want to set it up. If you’re like me and you want to read the feeds you know you want to read, not some machine-learning “tell me about your interests” thing... this is for you.

Subscriptions are all local too - no third party cloud server back end, no account to create. It’s 100% on your devices.

Phenomenal support. The dev responds quickly to support emails, and continues to refine and rev the product. Sync is solid and fast and uses iCloud. Worked great on my iPhone 6 and iPhone X, works great on my iPhone 12 Pro, iPad mini, and MBP.

i use this app to keep up on my industry, and the world, every single day. If you read news, you owe it to yourself to download and try it out.
XXXVVVIII,
I like it
Trying to get back into the rss news scene. This app is great. I would like to see custom filters and an over all search box or screen. I think custom filters could be cool to categorize stories by a topic since rss is not a controlled environment like Apple News for example. If I could add a bunch sources and have it only keep or fetch stories containing certain words in the title or article then that would alleviate then need to find rss feeds pertaining to only one item of a subject. Like filtering only stories with “Walking Dead” but having several different sources to find stories about said subject.
Trevor[0],
Amazing app
Every time I go to use this app I’m always pleasantly surprised by how it’s able to do everything that I set out to accomplish. There’s no searching around for what I’m looking for, or trying to find workarounds. This app is incredibly well thought out and the settings are so detailed I felt it was actually worth the time to write this review. Of all the RSS readers I tried before settling on this one, I have zero regrets that I went with this app. Everyone should be aware of it and how great it is.
Lovsurfe,
Nice UI, tons of useful custom settings, easy to use
This is one of my favorite RSS readers. I love its simple UI, because it is so friendly to users. Compared to other RSS reader apps, it has more available minor tweaks that can be tailored to your particular template with your favorite font, font-size, line-height , read mode, etc. And it’s smooth and effective both on iPad and iPhone, I can enjoy the pure RSS reading without any disturbance. Finally, I must thank developer for keeping releasing update. 👍
Electric_Dreamscape,
Love the app - liked the old icon :)
I love the app. It’s been solid and syncs perfectly between my iPad and iPhone. The feature additions have been very welcome. Photo handling in-line has gotten slouch better over the years. I did like the old app icon much better than your new one though :) and if that’s the only complaint a user can come up with, you’re doing a great job. Thanks for the app. I use it constantly.
