Smokin’ Good App!
Unfortunately, our California summers seem to be increasingly smoke filled… a problem for all, to be sure, but definitely frustrating and dangerous for pilots! I love having this quick, easy to use app at my fingertips for flight planning. It pulls reliable data from NOAA’s web site, but in a much simpler-to-use interface. Now I’m going “Up in Smoke” a lot less!

New go-to tool
When I first saw this I realized this was a must have. Along with normal briefings, this tool has become a go-to tool in my planning. It has taken some calibration to translate the colors into visibility but so far in my short usage anything approaching red is problematic.

Great for a quick look at the smoke forecast!
I’m a full time flight instructor, and the smoke from all the fires in California can interfere with our flight training activities. This app makes it easy to get a quick, up to date visualization of NOAA’s latest smoke forecast for Northern California!

Useful app Easy to use
I can now easily see the smoke in my area. The slider at the bottom shows a timeline, forecast. Simple. Intuitive. Kudos to the developer.

Part of my daily routine
I’m a private pilot and I love the simplicity of this app. Lets me check smoke forecast, on the ground and at altitude. Unfortunately a smoke check is now a necessity.

Useless app
On both mac and ios the app simply displays “No Data Available” on all screens, with a slider that does nothing but blank the screen when moved.
