Description

New Zealand Sign Language Dictionary contains diagrams and videos for over 4,000 English words and phrases.

A "Word of the Day" feature introduces you to a new vocabulary word every day.

All the diagrams are built in to the application so they can be viewed offline. To view the videos, an active Internet connection is required.

We're really sorry if you experienced problems watching videos recently - this was due to videos being moved to a new provider recently and the new video location not being updated in the sign database packaged with the application. we're updating our processes and documentation to avoid something like this happening again in the future.

We have also updated our app to be compatible with iOS 13. You may notice a few changes to the look and feel of the application.

Fixes crash problem on iOS 7.

Thank you for your patience waiting for this update. My wife and I have a new baby who was born early and has finally come home after 11 weeks in NICU. As you can imagine, iOS upgrade work takes a back seat to taking care of family!

This release is dedicated to our daughter Lily Hewgill.

This minor update changes the Word of the Day feature so that certain vulgar words will no longer be automatically chosen as the random Word of the Day. It is important to note that these words are still in the dictionary, but they are just no longer eligible for automatic display.

Thank you all for your support!

Kaykaymermaid,
Awesome app
This app is great. You can search whatever word you're looking for and even provides a video if you can't read the pictures
Tjmaxs1,
Very impressed about app
I was watching Sue Thompson fb"eye". She was deff. Anyways I use to be able to sign fluently with friends and hearing impaired. Lost it after years but this is a good app if u want to look up a work or how to say what u need on the go as well. I recommend this to anyone that rather look up a work then take lessons.
SeanyZ,
I'm sure it's right...
For all of those One Star reviews for having incorrect signs... Keep in mind this is New Zealand Sign Language, not American Sign Language (which is clearly stated in the description).
kurrra,
Great for everyone
This is a great app its the best one that i have found and its free i highly recommend this app its easy to use and very helpful for those who want to learn sign language
Missourirose,
Most are not correct
I have known how to sign for over 20 years. I am somewhat rusty. But i do remember after I have been shown. Most of these signs aren't right and when looking up a simple word it doesn't display the word by itself.
If I were new at signing I would not use this app, only to be corrected later by someone and have to learn all over again.
clare2020,
great tool for New Zealand sign
As a speech therapist who was trained overseas, this has been so helpful for learning NZ sign,

I use this info daily.
Glitter dream princess,
Mmm no
Although I've only taken ASL for a year, these are not correct. I even looked up simple words and none of them were the signs that I have learned from school! I would not recommend this app, it's gives you the wrong information.
