August 8, 2011 - OmniSketch listed by PC Magazine as one of The 100 Best iPad Apps.

OmniSketch is listed in the iTunes Essential Paint & Drawing Apps section.

OmniSketch is a procedural drawing tool that allows you to create stunning sketches with very little effort. A procedural brush is a brush that uses a mathematical algorithm to draw patterns. These patterns can interact with lines that have already been drawn to produce amazing effects. The speed at which you draw will affect the look of the brush you are using. The brush algorithm can also be adjusted to produce different effects.

PadGadget.com says:
Now you might be reading this thinking, “There are already a large number of really good painting and drawing tools so what does OmniSketch bring to the game?” Instead of standard brushes and pencils, OmniSketch’s brushes use mathematical algorithms to draw patterns which interact with previously drawn lines to produce a cool sketch with detailed effects.

and:
One of the coolest OmniSketch features is its mirrored drawing mode. You can opt to have your strokes mirrored across your iPad’s screen (top and bottom, left and right or both options) to produce really stunning designs.

Unlock your inner artist with one of the best drawing tools available for the Apple iPad. P.mousse Esq.,
Most unique collection of procedural brushes
OmniSketch has been on my assorted iDevices for years, and it runs just fine in iOS 10. It has quite an array of interesting effects brushes, especially if you add the geometry set.

While it's useful as is, I'd love to see at least an image layer added so that I could fit use pre-existing art or photos as a reference. As other reviewers have noted it would also be helpful to have better color controls.
Amikuq,
New Brushes are nifty
If you like the old brushes, you will find that the new brushes are good too. While I only find 4-6 of them unique and fresh, in Omnisketch the application of the brush effects is the challenge and what makes it a special art app. I am happy with a .99 cent value of the brush set- but I think Omnisketch still lacks some essential elements of art app- such as being able to use layers and a tool that allows you to reselect the proper color you are using instead of trying to pick it again from the color wheel. I sincerely hope that in the future layers will be added, and I'd be happy to buy layers if that's what it came down to. Until then, Omnisketch is on the top of my list but can't wear the crown- this little artist makes too many mistakes and fixing them is frustrating without layers.
Nate__W,
Worked on 11, choppy on 12
I love this app. It worked so beautifully on iPadOS 11, but now on 12 it’s choppy and basically unusable. Pretty disappointing because I used to use it a lot. Will change rating if there’s an update that fixes the issue.
mrnicejob,
Killer bug
I bought this because of the advertised procedural drawing brush, as created years ago by Mr Doob. Not only is the implementation of the brush poor, if one changes the width of the brush in settings, it loses its attributes and only draws in polygons. Two stars for effort but cannot reccomend.
Skinnythia,
Not accurate
Kaleidoscope isn't true to kaleidoscope, only a four-way split. Disappointing!
Promiceus,
Wow!
I bought this thing thinking it is a art toy of some sort. 'Let's look what guys are thinking - it's cheap anyway' - that's what I thought. Wow! Some tools really look like a toy, but at least half of the brushes combined with different modes in several minutes can really give you almost the same result as if you were drawing for hours! If you feel like a great painter and planning an exhibition - you might not want some procedural stuff (still it is interesting for works of art in itself!), but if you work a lot on sketches and stuff and you need the most satisfying results in shorter time - this one can be sometimes better then SketchBook Pro for example! And if you have both and jump back and forth (via 'photo roll') you can have awesome results in no time and have some inspiration on the way! Totally worth it's price and great app! It could be more expensive and still be worth it!

P.S.: on a second thought - this is one of the best spent money in app store! Really impressed!
Sfarrell,
Elegant and sophisticated drawing app
Update: runs terrible on the new iPad. One of my favorite apps has become completely unusable. The lag is so bad I can't even explain and it can't process the stroke. I did side by side with iPad 2 and the difference is amazing. I highly recommend for ipad2, but not for the new iPad...

I rarely write reviews but in this instance I have gush over this app. I'm a business person with a fine art background. I still love to draw and paint, but never seem to have enough time. I have 5 or 6 other drawing apps that all serve different purposes but none touch the feeling of making art that Omnisketch does. It just feels amazing to sketch out little gems of art. I'm inspired by it.

This thing actually behaves the way I like to draw. Just watching the strokes develop on the screen is beautiful. I was amazed at the intelligence behind the developing strokes and how they intuitively blend. The speed at that an idea or sketch comes to life is so exciting. It may not be for everyone, but even if you just like to just doodle I'll bet you'll be thrilled by this simple, elegant and powerful drawing tool. It's the best 1.99 I have ever spent.

Suggestions: 1) Ability to zoom into areas 2) layers 3) allow erase to use stroke patterns 4) allow custom stroke patterns

I just want to say thanks, I'm booming with ideas to use this app for.

1.4....getting better
Bought this app today in preparation for the upcoming school year. I'm pleasantly surprised by some features. This isn't a full fledged photoshop style art app, like Sketchbook Pro. However, it allows you to achieve some effects very difficult to recreate on the iPad without a top notch stylus. Those effects interact with each other while you draw, resulting in a natural-looking, complex line drawing. It'll make beginners look like they've taken classes. The older bugs seem to have been worked out in 1.4! I think this could be a five star app, especially if they added layers, which are almost essential in the virtual drawing world, and maybe a couple of more standard brushes. So: add layers, get five stars!
touchytouchy,
Instant favorite
Easily the best sketching app for iPad I've found so far. The half-hour I've just spent playing with this is the most fun I've had drawing since I was a kid. I had no idea how a procedural brush worked, and it turns out that drawing with one is part precision line drawing, and one part sheer serendipitous mayhem. I was able to figure out each brush very quickly, and despite the often random nature of the brushes I was able to draw with quite a bit of accuracy. I can get effects instantly that I could never achieve in a whole afternoon with my fleet of micron pens. The symmetry effects ensure that anyone can make stunning designs, no matter what their skill level might be. This is a must-have iPad app.
Magic4Us,
⑤ Star App!
Nice, I have bought every sketch app that my iPad will run. By FAR, this app has the finest line drawing of them all, it making it easy to do all my detail work. This app has moved up to the first to do my art work. We will see how long you guys can keep this spot, before other app makers start doing the same thing. I would advise to keep your updates coming and it want be long before you guys get the number one slot. It's up you to hold it, the buyer/users are watching. You know there is a lot that can be added, just by adding something simple at lease once a month would do it for me. Thank you, look me up on the Internet ... A Touch of Magic ...
