Description

Open Access Helper brings the power of unpaywall.org and core.ac.uk to your iPhone and iPad as an intuitive Safari Extension.

Skip the publisher paywall for more than 30 million Open Access documents and unlock the power of your academic library with additional services, such as EZProxy-Linking and quick access to the library's link resolver.

If you like you can enable citation counts from opencitations.net and Open Access recommendations from core.ac.uk.

Additionally the app offers the ability to search for Open Access documents within the massive core.ac.uk and europepmc.org collection, making academic research just that little bit easier.

Things you should know:

Open Access Helper works best, if you give it permissions to access all websites, so it can identify the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) of an article and query unpaywall.org and/or core.ac.uk for an Open Access copy for you. A small badge in the top right of the page will indicate whether an Open Access copy is available.

The EZProxy prefix for several hundred academic libraries worldwide can be added to the popover. EZProxy helps you gain remote access, but you will require a user-id and password from your library.

This release addresses some naughty bugs and makes your search experience better! Here are the highlights:

I fixed a bug that caused searches in OpenAlex to fail: I know how frustrating it can be when your search results come up empty and apologize for the inconvenience.

Additionally I enhanced the display of search results: Roxanne suggested some great ideas for improving the way search results are displayed and I've implemented them in this release.

This update adds support openalex.org as a supported search provider. Additionally there is improved handling for Rate Limits in CORE Recommender. Lastly for libraries with a particular setup, proxy domains get better signalling, making it easier to recognize you are on a supported domain.

This version brings some enhancements to the iOS / iPad OS app and introduces a search history and marked list to the iOS app. You'll be able to "like" searches and records to come back to them later. To make working between iPhone & iPad easier, iCloud syncs these values between your devices.
