Description

• Paranoia Text Encryption PRO is a universal text encryption application for iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod) by Paranoia Works.
• Paranoia Text Encryption ensures the safety of your notes, SMSs, emails, social networking posts, cryptocurrency keys (seeds, mnemonics), and any other text from all unwanted readers.
• The app offers true security, encrypting data using the strongest encryption algorithms available: Threefish 1024 bits, SHACAL-2 512 bits, Paranoia C4 2048 bits (a cascade of Threefish, Serpent, AES, and SHACAL2), Blowfish 448 bits, AES 256 bits, RC6 256 bits, Serpent 256 bits, and Twofish 256 bits ciphers.
• Simply copy and paste text to and from your favorite applications, or save to a file for future use.
• This app does not function as a "Vault application". Instead, a password is set for the current encryption/decryption session, not to enter the app itself. You may have an unlimited number of passwords for any purpose—different files, tasks, people, etc.
• Steganography: This application offers steganographic features, allowing you to conceal text within a JPEG image. It uses the F5 steganographic algorithm in combination with your chosen symmetric cipher algorithm to create a final steganogram (JPEG image).

◆ Differences between Free and PRO versions: The PRO version offers additional encryption algorithms, specifically Threefish 1024bit, SHACAL-2 512bit, and Paranoia C4 2048bit (which is a cascade of Threefish–Serpent–AES–SHACAL2). While the free version can decrypt data encrypted by these advanced algorithms, the ability to encrypt data using these algorithms is exclusive to the PRO version. The PRO version also provides a key to activate the PRO versions of desktop applications: Paranoia File & Text Encryption for PC, Paranoia Text Encryption for PC and S.S.E. File Encryptor for PC.

• The application is directly compatible with macOS (10.15 and later). Versions for other systems and platforms are available on the application's homepage (download section - https://paranoiaworks.mobi/download/).
• An online (web-based) version, utilizing AES and client-side JavaScript, is available at https://pteo.paranoiaworks.mobi.

• We greatly appreciate your feedback, including suggestions for improvement and reports of technical problems. Please feel free to contact us via email, particularly if you have questions. Comments don't provide the means for us to communicate with you effectively.

Pekan3.14,
Fantastic! Perfect!
Unique amongst the encryption apps I've seen on the Apple App Store. It's the session by session of text and files, with infinite number of passwords/keys, that makes this special compared to the proliferation of password managers, etc. that are out there. You also have a wide choice of encryption methods. Most of those apps are encrypted "storage safes". This is way different than that. And the level of encryption available is more than enough for most people, particularly if you use a long phrase salted with random numbers and special characters standing in for letters to generate the encrypted text. And do check out the desktop version. Where you can not only encrypt text you can create steganograms to hide your newly encrypted text. Bravo developer!
Wolfgang P.,
Great tool
I was impressed how easy it is to encrypt or decrypt a message with this app. They explain their algorithm on their website in great detail.

Now I have another tool for asymmetric encryption and this one for symmetric encryption. The advantage of symmetric is that you just have to agree on a password - no need to exchange public keys.
Tedward apleProReview,
Very handy and well done
Well thought out app with great options. Thanks for maintaining this and the web version.

One thing that would be nice is if could save session passwords in keychain to make it easier for some people to use.
Ugly Cook,
Great and simple
Easy to use. I use it to encrypt passwords in a password safe. I also use pointers. I don’t want my wallets hacked and hard wallets can die too.
reviewminion365,
Just perfect
This app is exactly what i was looking for! Simple to understand and easy to use! I would recommend adding PGP for further updates.

Do you want to keep your information secure from the prying eyes of malevolent corporate state parasites and sociopathic cracker scum? Sure! We all do!

Yes, this is what you need.
Larkitect,
Great app!
Really handy app with excellent cipher options. And the built-in file directory is quite useful. 5-stars worth of thanks to the dev/s.
SomeName1717,
Was Great Until...
This app was truly amazing until I discovered that it had been transferring data, presumably the private data that the app is supposed to protect, via my cellular network.

Most folks that download an encryption app with “paranoia” in its name see absolutely no need whatsoever for an app to transmit data over the internet or otherwise. While I am fully aware that iOS allows me to toggle this app’s ability to communicate via cellular network, seeing that the app transferred nearly 2MB of data via cellular over about 4 weeks means I cannot trust it when connected to WiFi either. The developer could have easily siphoned my personal data (and could be siphoning yours if you’re using this app).

Very rude and shady.

Edit after initial developer response:

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, your claim that P.T.E. doesn’t transfer any data is untrue. According to my device’s cellular data meter, your app has indeed transferred data using my phone’s cellular connection. There are many apps on the App Store (some dealing with encryption like P.T.E. does) that do not transfer any data, thus producing no entry in cellular data settings. Not only has P.T.E. produced an entry, it has transferred 2MB of data.

Perhaps this behavior is totally innocuous. Perhaps you are totally unaware. Perhaps a library you’ve incorporated is unknowingly establishing a connection. Or, perhaps you are stealing users’ data. As someone that depends on security and privacy, I cannot afford to take that gamble.

Like I said, your app is fantastic, but it simply isn’t worth the risk, given your unsatisfactory explanation. Until a better explanation is offered, my review will remain a 1-star.

Edit after developer edit:

I am changing my review to a 5-star due to this application having proven (after an update removing the Appirater component) that it no longer transfers data via cellular network.

Thank you for providing a satisfactory reason for the occurrence of network data transfer, and thank you for removing the offending component.
Zen&Way,
Stupid app not useful
Obviously, the other user needs the app or online to decrypt. I purchased but can’t figure out how it works — help is no help.
Occasional Insomniac,
Works as Described. Pay for it and buy it for your phone too!
This application works great and is an extra layer of protection for saving text in the cloud on a service provider's "encrypted" services. I hope it is always updated and supported. That is my only worry: decrypting what I've already encrypted relies on my using this app (along with my session password). Without the app, the data is lost for decryption.
