Good idea
The app is a good idea, but there are already local Facebook groups for all of these activities. There is no draw to the app other than the gear supplier discounts (idk if this is even offered anymore); nobody seems to use the app after they’ve made a profile.
I deleted because it’s constantly crashing or prompting 503 errors etc. I get the devs need money to make improvements, but this app just sort of seems like a solution to a made up problem.

Great way to meet new adventure buddies
I was using Facebook groups to meet/meet up with other people for outdoor activities. I love this app because it streamlines things by allowing you to pick multiple activities and describing your experience/skill level and offers an easy way to list your availability. There’s not the extra bloat/annoyance/drama that I’ve found in Facebook groups because the app is so geared towards meeting up and actually doing things! It’s easy to navigate and easy to connect with others through app. They’re also always improving the app and adding relevant/helpful things like gear exchanges. If you’re into outdoor activities and/or fitness and want to have super easy a way to find partners for pretty much any activity you could think of, you will love this app!

Have you ever felt that the group events are not scheduled as frequently as you wish, don’t necessarily reflect upon your to-do’s and when/where you’d like to go no matter how many groups you join? Frustrating!
Pastimes came up with this brilliant idea, which completely rewrites how the group events have been traditionally organized and managed, which is generally one directional... the leader decides it all for the most part... and the participants are simply left with Yay or Nay options. Instead, with Pastimes, the users specify their availability (what/when/where) and the app on the backend match you with the like-minded outdoor enthusiasts within your specified distances! How freakin’ awesome is that!? 🙌🤩🙌
As with any pieces of software and apps, Pastimes surely has rooms for improvement, but being a start-up, the team of developers has been tirelessly reflecting upon users feedback to a point that they release updates regularly over the course of several months I’ve been using the app. Truly remarkable how it is shaping up within such a short period of time!

Great idea. Spammy, rude developers.
This could be a great idea if the developers weren’t so incredibly rude and disrespectful of their users and the communities they’re trying to engage. It starts with their endless steamroller spamming of Facebook groups and other social media comment threads. And then when you try to check out the app out of curiosity, it takes your email and phone number before stalling indefinitely. I’m not saying they’re data harvesting, but they’re definitely not showing much concern about what happens to the “community” once they have your info in hand. Their tone-deaf and spammy actions make it abundantly clear that they have no interest in creating community anywhere unless it means they get a cut of the profit. There are better ways to meet friends than by rewarding this kind of behavior.

Excellent app for meeting people
After moving during the pandemic and trying to meet outdoorsy friends on dating apps/bumble friends, I downloaded this app and immediately connected with climbers and mountain bikers in my area. I now do weekly riding and climbing events with my new friends and we have also expanded to other social activities like bars/concerts. I recommend you set an event for your activity and then actively message people inviting them to the event. It takes some work but ultimately the payoff it much better in terms of long term friends.

Really great apps to meet people to do fun stuff
Within a week or so of having this app I already got to go climbing with one person (and more later) and talked about backcountry skiing with another (and hopefully soon go skiing sometime with them).
The availability thing to me isn't that useful since setting up reoccurring times is a bit awkward, but the ability to connect with people is what this app is really good at, which to me is the most important part!!

Outdoorsy people, this is the app you’ve been waiting for!
I have been waiting for something like this for a long time! You can find other people in your area who are into the same activities and meet up to do them. You can even see in their profile what skill level they are and what gear they have so you make sure they are the right adventure buddy for you. This is so cool!

Meet people who like the same activities
Making friends in your 30s is hella hard. Especially when you’re living in a new city. Pastimes is an awesome way to connect with peeps who are into the same thangs as you. Want some examples? Cool I’ll give ya some: do you like rock climbing? Sweet, pastimes will help ya find someone to climb with. Going skiing for a weekend and spending a day on the slopes solo? Find someone to shred with. Okay you get it.

This app has been an awesome way to find friends willing to climb at the gym with as well as wake up early in the weekends to beat the crowds to the mountains! I can finally stop swiping right on dating apps to find rad folks to adventure with! Plus this app has awesome messaging and biography features to help you get to know someone before you meet at the trailhead at 5 am 🤟🏽🎿

Great App for Finding Buddies with Similar Hobbies
This is a great app for finding new people to connect with over hobbies that you have in common. I recently moved to a new city and didn’t know very many people that mountain bike. On this app I was able to connect with a bunch of new people who love to mountain bike and now we can see each other’s interests and schedules for availability.
