The Petivity Smart Litter Box Monitor system consists of a smart device and connected app that transform data about your cat’s litterbox behavior into insights about their well-being. The system identifies behavior and weight changes that may be associated with a health condition requiring veterinary diagnosis like UTI, kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism and obesity.

Amazing Device & Data for Pets
This device and the companion app are amazing. The device is very simple to install and pair with the app. The app is also very simple, requiring only an AppleID and then quick pairing with the device.
To get this working, you must categorize each event by cat (it shows you the weight of the cat, so this is actually really easy to do) for 8-ish events and then after that it will auto-categorize the cats (“learn each pet”). That’s all you have to do! From there it tracks and categorizes whether it was #1, #2, or nothing - you never have to do this.
We tested/verified the type of visit and cat visit using a Ring camera over a week - we were unable to find an event that was miscategorized by cat or by activity type. (3 cats, 3 visits each per day, 1 week = 42 events).
The app is basic, but does exactly what you want: there’s weight trending by cat, activity history by cat, and an events timeline (which also says which box if you have multiple). I’ve got absolutely no complaints about this product and really hope other cat parents will adopt it.
If you’re into quantified cats, I also highly recommend the SurePet microchip feeding system & cat door. With SurePet and Petivity, you have a full 360-degree view of your cat.

Fantastic way to track your kitties
This monitors and this app or a fabulous addition to my household. I have an older cat, and it’s extremely helpful to me to be able to see his potty habits and detect when he has developed a urinary track infection (based on an increased frequency of visiting the cat box). This app allows me to do that, and save him from discomfort. Love it love it love it, highly recommend it

Mostly accurate life saver
I’ve had 3 of these for under 2 weeks for my 2 cats. I have a cat with cystitis and this let us get a handle on when he is going and we took him the vet after multiple days of not urinating to intervene for a serious medical issue.
It is mostly accurate after the training. I use a security camera so I can be sure it is logging the correct cat. It entirely missed one cat’s urination without even showing an “entered” event and there is no way to manually add an event. It also mistakenly marked a single visit with urination and defection as only urination, but that is an understandable difficult situation.
The weight recorded is sometimes wildly inaccurate showing my 16 pound cat weighing 4 or 10 pounds. I have leveled them and followed all the setup directions.
The only options are sign in with google or apple, but creating an account would be preferred. There is no way to share the login with a family member.
It would be better if it would provide insight into long times spent in the litter box indicative of straining. It would also be good to see notice of “enterered” events where the cat gives up and leaves without using the box, as opposed to just checking out the boxes and then deciding right after to use a different box.

Inaccurate other than weight
I’ve followed the common sense instructions about not being close to a wall, being level, the box needs to fit on the scale. The scale has failed to report a single feces activity and only reports urine (single cat). Today it falsely reported no activity vs. urine. The fact that you cannot at least manually update the log mandates keeping a spreadsheet separately if you want to have accurate data.
Of secondary of issue are inability to create an account that works on the web, that isn’t tied to my apple id.
I want this to work, but between these issues and the support team providing only a canned response and completely ignored my suggestion for allowing manual adjustments to records is not giving me a good feeling.

Broken AI, “cute graph” is useless
I’ve had this system from before it was bought by Purina. Something happened in the last few months that broke the AI and I received no response from my email requests for an update on when it would fix.
I have 4 cats and while I get mixing up a cat that is 10.1 lbs with one that is 10.3 pounds, the app has been assigning a single cat to all 4 every single day - ranging in weight from 8 pounds to 13 pounds. I’ve been manually correcting it for weeks.
This means that any “alert” about visits to the box or weight change are more than useless.
The weight graph is “cute” and useless. There is no resolution to see how much it is actually changing over the week/month. No lines or anything to match up the y-axis to the current date.
Considering that a 5% weight change for a cat is about half a pound… this is a critical level of resolution that is lacking.
I’m finding this to be more trouble than it is worth and will be removing my units immediately.

Good product
This item is a great device but there is one down side for me. When I clean the litter sometimes it does not detect when it’s cleaned. I feel that there should be a option where u can click cleaned right after u cleaned the box. Other then that issue everything is accurate.

Frustrating app
I bought two scales for our two litter boxes over 7 months ago. After initial training, it kept reasonable track of 2 cats. But for several weeks recently I’ve had to make many corrections every day because the app keeps mixing up the cats, even though it should be easy to tell them apart when one weighs 3 pounds more than the other!

Cant access the app for two days. I deleted the app and downloaded again. Same problem. I received a response from Petivity. They are working on a fix.
