Description

PhotInfo is an app to control all the information (location, date, camera, focal length, etc.) contained in your photos.

# Why PhotInfo

Digital cameras (including those in mobile devices) add metadata to the photos they take. These data are called Exif tags. They provide an opportunity to learn not only the exact date and time of the shoot, but also parameters such as exposure time, shutter speed, image resolution, device model, ISO, focal length, whether the flash was used, etc.

Letting PhotInfo access the photos on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, you can view all of their metadata, delete these metadata or modify some of them. With the PhotInfo’s Extension it is possible to view the main tags directly from other apps, like the native Photos app (iPhone and iPad only).

You may delete/modify the image tags to protect your privacy before sharing the image; you may add GPS data if you had forgotten to turn on location services when you took the picture; you may joke by setting improbable location values; you may reset date or location deleted by a previous editing; you may...

# What makes this app unique

• the completeness of tags shown
• the possibility to see the tags in raw format or in a more human readable one
• the convenient navigation between photos and albums
• the toolbar that allows the user to favorite, hide or delete a picture

# With PhotInfo you can:

• view all the Exif tags from the picture
• display an image with the main tags and the map of the location in a single view
• share an image with or without tags
• copy the key data or the content of individual tags
• share all the tags in raw or in human readable format or as a JSON
• create a copy of the image eliminating or modifying tags for:
- the place (you can take it from another picture)
- the date and time when the photo was taken (you can take it from another picture)
- the orientation
- the author (the artist)
- the copyright
- the image description
• create a copy of the image with the minimum content of the tags (related to image data structure, such as the image size, resolution and orientation)
• see where the photo was taken, in different ways (map, address, coordinate)
• favorite, hide or delete a photo
• quickly scroll through the albums of your iOS device
• support for burst photos
• view the tags in videos (read only)
• view the tags directly from other apps with the PhotInfo's Extension

MLRA73,
One of the best
...for viewing and correcting metadata. The ‘share’ sheet shows metadata across all apps I have tried. Until Photos app and OneDrive give access to photo details, this is super helpful.
2sox65,
Great app for working with your EXIF data
It's amazing how much information is included in EXIF data. With that in mind, it's important to me to be able to find and read the data.

I've enjoyed using PhotInfo while I hone my photo skills with my new DSLR. It makes it easy to see the values that I use most often.

Most EXIF-reading apps seem to be built by developers who use Excel. Photinfo looks and feels like it was developed by a photographer. All the data is well organized and easy to read.

Most of the time, I'm browsing my photos in the Photos app, and I'll see a detail (motion blur, blown details, dark exposure) and I'll wonder what I did, and what I can do to correct it in the future. It's great that I can use PhotInfo to see that information without leaving the Photos app.

PhotInfo makes working with my photos so much more smoother and more informative and it's helped me become a better photographer.

If you are aware of the existence of EXIF data, you want this app.
janericster,
Fail to save changes
I’ve tried using this app for many photos by correcting the original photo taken date in the EXIF field, since many of my photos are scanned from prints. The app allows me to change the date but when I save the data it reverts back to the original date every time. I’m on the latest iOS 11 on an iPhone X.
Bummerx2,
Cannot copy information
I was hoping to copy info (in order to paste in GPS app) but appears not to have basic ability to copy.
Stacezm,
Clunky Interface
App does allow you to modify exif metadata. But the interface for what I needed to change is needlessly awkward and time consuming. I am trying to fix the year within the date on pictures of my grandson taken by my daughter's friend. This would be helpful for historical reasons and to allow me to find them again by the correct dates later. This app will allow me to do this, but only one picture at a time, which is painfully slow, but, the interface to change the date is a scrolling wheel, and does not allow me to change the only character in the date field that is incorrect, the least significant digit of the year, which is off by 4 years. Instead of typing over one character, the interface requires me to use a scrolling barrel, which can only change by days at a time. I have to scroll across 4 years of days for each field within each pic. It does actually allow me to change the date, but it may take me a week to change the 60 or so pics with the wrong date, due to the interface.
PDF maven,
Share button for more info
Add your copyright and a description to your photos before sharing. I love that this app - lets me get abbreviated exif data from inside other apps! Just use the Share button and find PhotInfo as an option. The screen layout of info with picture is just what I wanted to see, additional details also available when viewing images from app. Info now includes app that created or modified my photos and some specific settings. Very helpful! Developer is very responsive.
Wildog!,
So far so good
I'd like to see an option to custom which informations to show in the extension view. Focal length in 35mm film and subject distance are helpful information to me but I have to open the app and then navigate to 'Tags' view to see them, it's a little inconvenient since the extension view should provide this feature. BTW information of some lens won't show in the app. Even though, it's still the best exif viewer in the App Store with iOS 8 extension.
X100,
Excellent Application
This app is simple and does exactly what you need, if you want to look at meta data of your photo.
You can easily access address, coordinates, time etc and copy it.
PhotoInfo is accessible directly through the photo album menu, so you don't have to switch apps.
Would be great to show coordinates in decimal degrees or at least have the option to switch.
Great work! Thanks.
joshvelasquez,
My favorite EXIF viewer and editor so far
I've tried many EXIF viewers and editors for iOS and this is my favorite so far. Makes it easy to view advanced data and edit basic data like the date and time and location, which is great for someone like me who cares about photo organization.
MsQueenn,
Cool Extension, But Could Be Better
Photinfo is hands down, the best metadata viewer on the AppStore. I'm excited about the added extension which is cleanly displayed. I used Investigator before this one, however, with investigator, you can view advanced Exif from the extension, which is quite nice.
Photinfo doesn't display enough Exif data, so I'm forced to keep Investigator around. Another thing is the grid view within the app squishes the photo. It was better as square thumbnails.
