Description

PhotoPicker allows you to pick out and sort tens of thousands of photos for Lightroom, Capture One, Camera Raw and other photo editors with maximum speed and convenience and is designed primarily for professional photographers.

The main advantage of PhotoPicker is, first of all, speed - you immediately see a full-sized photo, and the process of importing photos and exporting sorting results for several thousand photos takes just minutes.

Now it is not necessary to pre-import photos into the Lightroom catalog. Now you can start the sorting process immediately after shooting, having only the Camera Connection Kit adapter and the iOS device with you. Sort results are saved in XMP files that will need to be copied into the folder with the RAW originals of the photo. And after importing into Lightroom, Capture One or Camera Raw, you immediately see the results of the sort.

It also supports work with Lightroom's ready-made catalogs, which can be copied to PhotoPicker via:
- iCloud and other popular cloud services;
- iTines file sharing;
- FTP.

Reviews of professional photographers (translated from Russian):

Super app! Very convenient and useful. I can pick out shooting about 3-4 times faster than on a computer! Plus it can be done anywhere. On the road, in the park, comfortably lying on the couch and so on! Super! I advise everyone to those who take a lot of photos and appreciate their time.

5* Yanna Levina (http://www.yannalevina.ru)
The application helps to pick out a large number of photos, if you do not have a computer or laptop at hand. Works smartly, an accessible toolbar, everything is pretty simple and straightforward. It is convenient even to work in a dead traffic jam.

In my opinion PhotoPicker is the best program for pick out photos, sorting them and dropping them on the ipad! Installing PhotoPicker, I became free! Now I can easily select photos outside the workplace. You can sit on the beach or go somewhere and work in parallel! Class! Many thanks to the developers. Now I have more free time))

1. Added the ability to compare photos. Now you can use the left and right tap zones on a zoomed photo to move between photos and compare sharpness

2. Added the ability to select the actual location of the source photos on external media when exporting photos to a separate folder. The problem arose due to the fact that the system assigns a dynamic path to external media, which can change when it is reconnected

3. Added sorting of the list of catalogs

4. Fixed minor UI bugs

IMPORTANT: these functions only work for new catalogs that were created in version 2.9.0 and higher.

We also fixed the errors that occurred when setting the rating for a group of photos, and the error with the smart previews orientation.

Now when you set flags, ratings, or color labels for a photo, filters are automatically applied just like in Lightroom. This is very useful if you are working with a series of similar photos. For example, you set to hide a photo with a rejected flag. And when you view a series of photos and set the rejection flag for obviously unsuccessful photos, they are automatically hidden.

amnazrz,
Fantastic, almost perfect
Amazing piece of software, exactly what I was looking for, for culling photos on the go with an ipad and mini keyboard without importing first into Lightroom. Really amazing. Very fast, quality of the previews is amazing, retains RAW applied film simulation and camera settings, instant transitions between photos (vs. the annoying fade-out effect with lightroom). And keyboard shortcuts are great !

The things why it’s not a 5-stars: - really heavy on battery, think 50% battery in two hours of use. - can’t open directly picked photos to an app (lightroom) they have to be exported first to a folder. - can’t rename catalogs.

Would be super useful : be able to keep zoom level when switching between photos, be able to see RAWs instead of embedded JPEGs. Ability to Move picked files instead of copying them when you click « Move picked RAW to folder ». Abolity to move rejected to a folder instead of just only having the option to delete them.

I am keeping my subscription tho to support the developer.
Photo Chuck,
Tried on a Trip
Took this app for a Europe trip this fall on an iPad Pro. Worked well with 1800 photos after coming up with several work-arounds. It is setup for importing all the photos at once. If you add photos to the same album in Photos from another day of shooting PhotoPicker doubles up on the previously added photos. It does not recognize duplicates. Found if each day’s photos go into a different album then add that to PhotoPicker all is good. Also need to turnoff off sending to iCloud your Photos app and iCloud Backup for the iPad otherwise it will max out iCloud storage unless you have a very big allotment.

These problems can be overcome if it take full advantage of iPadOS 13.0. One less step of importing into Photos then PhotoPicker would simplify the process. Understand there is a change that may allow the use of external storage, hope so. Also hope that while importing it can do a backup at the same time. Will be taking it on another trip in December along with Lightroom to see which does the best grading job.
Another failure 2,
Found bugs after 5 min
Was looking for a app to fill in the photo managing gap in an iOS photo editing workflow. This app is not it. I’m a hobbyist photographer. I would pay a 1 time price for a good app (like affinity photo), but I won’t pay a monthly fee - that’s strike 1. I downloaded / tested this app just to see how it works - only took 5 min to find a significant bug. I used the filter function to narrow down to 2 pictures, then I exported them to a new album. When it was done exporting, it said it had exported 5 pics - I checked, sure enough it did. I filtered / exported 3 different times using different criteria which resulted in 3 or 4 pics. Each export had 5 pics in it??? If it can’t filter/export the pics I want, how can I possibly use this app (plus, I won’t pay monthly for an app).
cheeseburger720,
This is exactly what I’m looking for!
For someone who travels a lot, and often doesn’t have a computer with me, I do a lot of my photo editing and organization with my iPad, however, the main thing that was missing was a process similar to Lightroom or Bridge to quickly and efficiently narrow down a whole memory card’s worth of images. Now I can quickly find the handful of images I’m interested in in the 700 or so that will be on my card. I do all of my photo editing on Affinity Photo, and am able to export the photos I want into an iOS photo album and go from there with Affinity Photo. I will be happy paying for this excellent app moving forward as it will make my mobile photo editing life much much more efficient and easy! Thank you for the wonderful app Roman, and for working with me and incorporating more features into it! This is great!
JonPShar,
Life-changing!
The first time I used the app it didn’t work perfectly - I contacted the developer, and within a day they had it updated and fixed. I just signed up for their Pro subscription and have culled three weddings with it today, absolutely perfectly!

Culling on an iPad is so, so much more enjoyable, I did these in half the time it takes me to do an average wedding. The subscription fee is the best value I’ve spent in years!

Thanks guys for the great work!
oleksandr melnychuk,
Absolutely worth the money!!
Why are you expecting something for free? The person spend a lot of time to write this app, and deserves those 9$ for an awesome application. It saves a lot of time and you don't have to sit behind the computer all day. Being a photographer, I absolutely enjoy.
brdavis3,
Needs DropBox Support
To the developer: I couldn't find a way to contact you so I'm using a review. The process of transferring back and forth needs to be easier. Add the ability for the app to save/access the catalog on DropBox or other cloud. It would be nice to access it on DropBox directly without zipping it first, but if it needs to be zipped that would be fine too.

Here's my suggested workflow:
Zip my catalog and previews on the computer.
Put it in DropBox.
Open the app and import from DropBox.
Make ratings, etc, in the app.
Save back to DropBox.
Copy Catalog back to Computer.

If you can make it do that, I'll buy the full version.
artministry,
So an app developer walks into a bar...
Which is just another way of saying, are you kidding me? I download the app. Open the demo file that comes with it. Immediately get a notice that this demo app can only process 50 photos max, please go to the App Store to buy the full version. Exit app. Delete from system.
