Hunterman328,
Decent Game but Soon to be Obsolete
Farsight Studios did OK with the license for Williams and Bally tables, they at least gave people the chance to play tables they might not always play, but the gameplay of the tables was never all that good. Instead of accurate ball physics dictating where the ball went their tables often feel like the ball is on a scripted path.
The news that Zen Studios recently got the Williams/Bally license and will be releasing their first tables so soon, Oct. 9, 2018, pinball fans like me have been rejoicing. Zen Studios are the best in the business when it comes to Video Pinball and knowing these classics will finally get the treatment they deserve is just awesome.
Farsight still has other licenses, like Stern, but most of us are hoping that once other table manufacturers see what Zen does with the Williams tables in comparison to Farsight’s attempts, that the next time license renewals come around they’ll also sign with Zen Studios.
I know this sounds like I’m bashing Farsight and TPA, but that’s really not my intent. For such a tiny studio with so little money it’s impressive what Farsight was able to do. But now it’s almost like a console generation change (multiple even) with the move to Zen and Pinball FX3/Zen Pinball. Who wants to play the Sega Genesis version of Street Fighter 2 when the PlayStation 4 version is a 1:1 actual recreation of the arcade machine?
RedBell BlueBeard,
I Am Reeling, Everyone Needs To Look At This, Mind = 🤯
I downloaded this app because TvTropes told me it had a Doctor Who table complete with its own plot — I didn’t even know pinball games HAD plots (it features Missy by the way, which is interesting because I was expecting Delgado) and immediately I was blown away by the graphics! I don’t understand why this app doesn’t have five stars already, like the second you open the app you are greeted with The Who’s (heh) “Pinball Wizard” in stellar quality. Even if you never play a single game of pinball, I highly recommend you download this game to look at the tables. Sure there are pictures from the App Store, but it’s a whole other feeling watching it in motion. It is so beautifully rendered, I can’t even be mad that the prices for new tables are a bit steep, because they are worth the price. I’m just happy there’s a free trial version! I am also endlessly fascinated when reading the brief history each table has of its real-life counterpart. Most pinball machines were before my time, yet I can’t help but feel such a profound nostalgia. Kudos to everyone involved in this wonderful marvel of a game, but especially to the developers and the graphic designers. This app is a must-see, 5/5 stars.
spacecassie,
Fun app to play baked
I felt very compelled to write this review because I truly love this app and what it accomplishes. When I first downloaded it a few years ago I thought I had discovered an art project or history museum of pinball machines. The artwork was and continues to be very high quality, the mechanisms are cleverly coded, and most importantly — the feel of the weight of the pinball. And I would absolutely give 5 stars if it weren’t for the interface. While there are some really cool features like the entire history and gameplay of the machine, it’s buried under vague and often nonsensical menus. One of my biggest gripes is that the sound options have no effect on the audio output, so when I want to vibe and listen to psychedelic rock on headphones it is drowned out by mind numbing beeps and buzzes. I also have an issue with the pricing options for tables. The bundles are disparaging in price and options, ranging from 2 tables for $8 to almost 10 tables for $15-20. And of course you only ever want to play one game in it. There has to be options to buy individual tables in the $1-4 range. Unfortunately I will continued to be irked by all of these drawbacks because I can’t stop playing this pinball.

Great game but purchases are weird
I love this game, the graphics are phenomenal and its pretty addictive. Downside: having to pay is kind of... disagreeable. The only available options in order to purchase tables are in packs. Usually I'd like to buy a certain table, but it can only be bought with a different table "pack". Frankly, 100% of the time I have zero interest in the other table. There should be a way to simply just buy one table at a time, for those of us who don't want the second table or don't have enough money to blow off $30 on an entire season of tables. If there were "packs" of tables at least let the people choose which ones so they can actually enjoy both tables they are spending actual money on. Other than that, the game is incredible. I'm willing to spend money on tables, I understand it's how the developers make a living other than ads, but please make it so that I (and many others) can be %100 satisfied with which tables we purchase.
Seattle Rex,
The best non-meatspace pinball ever created
First of all, the ads in the trial section are awful. Just awful. It's painful watching companies crapping all over a quality product with obnoxious, offputting ads. I think it's losing you more money than it's making, but what do I know.

The tables themselves, the ones you pay for at least, are so awesome they belie description. They play just like the meatspace machines. These are simulations, not "games" per say. Well, I guess simulations of games is more accurate. Anyway, it's incredible.

You do need to PAY for the tables, though, and I've purchased a lot of them. I don't see ads when I play tables that I've purchased.

I can't audition tables without incredibly intrusive, non-closeable, quite lengthy ads, though ... so I stopped auditioning tables altogether. As one that's more than willing to purchase even moderately-enjoyable tables, it's certainly cost them revenue FROM ME. I can't really speak for others, though.

The 3.3 rating the app currently has is a referendum on bean-counter decisions, not table quality. Table quality would be a 6 out of 5. I think everyone would agree on that.

Bottom-line: Stay away from the "FREE" tables. There's nothing FREE in life. Nothing. Well, besides my tender loving, baby, and even that'll cost you in soreness the next day. Just ask your mother.

If you're willing to drop $25 - $100 on a nice table collection , though, you'll be well-rewarded for your money.
Add-led,
A question...
First, I just want to say that this is an amazing app! The pinball recreations take me back to my youth, and the physics are incredible. I look forward each month to what they will offer next.

However, recently, when I finish a game on any table, it automatically kicks me completely out of the app, and I have to reload to the opening in order to play another game. Perhaps it's a sign of the times that I quickly run out of patience, but I do nonetheless. I don't know if this is a temporary glitch, or if maybe I need to do an update for my iPhone, but it has caused me to use it less. Any suggestions?

Edit: sept 17,

I've been using this app for a long time now, and while I do still enjoy playing the tables, I am also being kicked out of the app every time I finish a game. Completely back to my iPhone menu. In addition, it now does not save any of my scores. I have not been seeing any ads for my free tables, which I would trade for being able to stay in the app and save my scores. I tried to delete and reload the app, but I can't get it out of the cloud, so when I reload, it comes back to the same old thing. I figured that I would wait and spend some money on this after I get an iPad, but the issues with the free game are making me rethink that. I think the next time I decide to delete it, I just won't reload at all.
Crabcakes,
A no-brainer for pinball fans.
Fantastic app with good, responsive technical support. I originally wrote a review years ago, which I updated when I had an issue with ads showing up on tables I bought. I didn’t have the option to update it again, so I’m writing a new review to reflect my current experience. I contacted FarSight’s tech support and my issue was quickly fixed, so I am a satisfied customer. If you love pinball, you should already own this, and there are so many classic tables to choose from that you may remember playing back in the day, in addition to some of the more recent ones like Doctor Who: Master of Time (2016, Bally), for instance. I’d still love to see more tables from the 80s, 70s, and earlier, like Spirit of ‘76, Slick Chick, and Humpty Dumpty from Gottlieb. These developers are clearly dedicated to creating the most realistic experience you can possibly get from the device of your choice. Good job.
Dowreagan,
Farsight has singlehandedly given pinball a resurgence!
I own every Farsight/Stern pinball table and they have recreated over 70+ pinball tables from manufacturers like Stern, Gottlieb, Bally/Williams and more. Unfortunately the license for Bally/Williams has gone to another game company but Pinball Arcade still has plenty of tables available and they play GREAT. These are recreations of tables you’ll remember from the arcades. Pinball tables from many different generations with physics that make you think your playing the real table. They use the original roms from the tables so if there was a glitch in the original table, it’s in this game too. If you played pinball in your youth or you are just getting into pinball and want to play the original tables you love and remember or want to play some newer Stern tables......Download this game!! You won’t be disappointed and you can try out the tables for limited play too!! You can’t lose.
digg_nation,
Do you love pinball?
If you love playing pinball, this game is a must purchase. The tables are recreations of real pinball tables. It’s aesthetically pleasing and fun to play. I’ve read some unreasonable criticism of the app regarding the price of the tables. All I can say is they must not love pinball very much. $5 seems complete reasonable to me to play a purchased table that is on perpetual free play. And, anyone that knows anything about game development realizes the work that goes into it. One other criticism involved not seeing a favorite pinball table in Pinball Arcade’s offerings. Hey, some of my favorites aren’t there either- yet. I highly recommend this app. My suggestions to the developer for the developer would be Williams’ Flash and some iconic games like Captain Fantastic or Bally’s KISS from the 1970s.
28marty28,
Table packs
I’ve bought most tables when you sold them one table at a time. Now if I want to buy new table you want me to buy pack and I have all the tables in pack except new table. Not going to spend that money for tables I already have. Also when you can buy one table you’ve raised the price to $10. Won’t be buying new tables. Whoever came up with table packs you should have thought about people like me who have bought tables from the beginning why would I buy a pack that has tables I already own. Not going to buy pack for one new table for 30 bucks. You might want to rethink this. The tables play great. Also don’t like the ads when I try new table. Seems like you’re getting a little greedy.
