Description
This application offers an immersive experience of the Pisidia Heritage Trail, a set of routes that cut across the Taurus Mountains north of Antalya. It is a wooded region with striking natural landscapes and still relatively untouched by modern life.
Pisidia is best known for its Classical cities (500 BC-600 CE) built on mountaintops, which are some of the most impressive archaeological sites in Turkey. The 350km-long Pisidia Heritage Trail connects many of these archaeological ruins through a network of ancient roads, paths and dirt roads with a stunning natural backdrop. The trail passes by magnificent canyons, waterfalls, mountain peaks and ancient forests. The Pisidia Heritage Trail has been developed by the British Institute at Ankara and a team of archaeologists, tourist guides, historians and botanists who worked together for over four years to create the best possible experience while walking along these routes. The 3D reconstructions of the ancient cities in this application are based on the scholarly investigations of the archaeologists who meticulously surveyed, mapped and documented the standing buildings in these cities. With this application, you can also visit these sites from your home, or if you walk the Pisidia Heritage trail, you can find out what these ancient sites would have looked like almost 2,000 years ago!
