Description
The PJI-TNM Educational mobile app, released by the University Medical Center Regensburg, was developed to provide guidance on the use of the PJI-TNM classification and to familiarize new users with the classification.
PJI-TNM App for physicians:
- The PJI-TNM Educational mobile app provides guidance on the use of the PJI-TNM classification for periprosthetic joint infections
- The PJI TNM code can be easily generated directly in the app.
- Enter relevant patient characteristics, such as age, gender, and comorbidities.
- Assessment of the causative pathogen, considering biofilm maturity and antimicrobial resistance to biofilm-active antibiotics.
- Evaluation of the indwelling implant including soft tissue conditions, implant type, and implant stability.
- Copy the PJI TNM code for easy further use.
- Request all relevant information on an existing periprosthetic joint infection by entering the corresponding PJI-TNM code.
How to determine a PJI TNM code:
Using the PJI-TNM code, decisive criteria in periprosthetic joint infections can be considered and accurately classified in accordance with the oncological TNM classification. As a training tool, the app guides the user in a structured manner through the most important criteria, such as implant type and implant stability, biofilm maturity, pathogen characteristics, soft tissue conditions, comorbidities, and infection recurrence, thereby determining the correct PJI-TNM classification.
Clinical professionals complete a specially designed questionnaire to determine the PJI-TNM classification. After answering the questionnaire, the app provides the corresponding PJI-TNM code. Existing codes can be entered manually into the app to obtain all relevant information on existing periprosthetic joint infections.
The app available here serves as a training tool to become familiar with the use of the PJI-TNM classification and thus to register periprosthetic joint infections quickly, easily, and in a patient-specific manner with a PJI-TNM code.
