We’ve all been there. Hungry? Yes. But for what? There have been applications trying to solve this problem since the dawn of the digital age. Thankfully we’ve advanced a ton from urbanspoon (that absolutely dismal app that shot out suggestions like a slot-machine) but I know there are countless others who have sat there on Yelp starving, adjusting every filter, doing anything possible to find something that hits the spot—only to end up just walking to the taco truck across the street. Yelp has failed me numerous times, and I’m definitely not alone. What makes Yelp fall short is it’s lack of a personal experience and abundance of clutter. If you feel the need to comment, great, but keep it brief! There is a certain charm I’ve found about “Place” because of that. This type of thing should be just as easy as a “swipe right” or “thumbs up” on a positive experience. Place solves the clutter of Yelp and something about keeping reviews brief just makes them slightly more believable. People don’t need to read about the direction you were driving with your boyfriend on date night before finding that hole in the wall Chinese place. Plus, writing this review has taken so much of my creative juices, can we really trust anyone that does it for every restaurant they dine at? I’ll keep it simple, download “Place” now. You’ll be glad you did.
