Description
PlaySections is an audio/video player that allows you to freely set marks and play back specific sections of your audio/video files. For example, while you're playing music, you can insert marks where the song transitions between the verse and the chorus, dividing the song into sections. Then you can pick a section from the generated section list and listen to any part of the song.
For each section title, you can enter multiple lines of text. As a result, in addition to verse/chorus labels, you can make notes about the chord progression, measure count, lyrics, and so on, offering a tool that you can use for many purposes.
PlaySections supports section and song loop playback, allowing you to listen to your favorite section on loop. It also features useful functionality including tempo/playback speed adjustment, pitch shift, vocal cancellation, 7 band equalizer, and flip video, making it a perfect app to use in instrument, vocal, or dance practice, or when playing music by ear.
Not only can it read files from the iOS Music Library, but by using the Share Extension/Open-in functionality, you can import files from other applications. For example, you can load a recording from the Voice Memo app that comes standard on the iPhone, letting you create and play back a section list for a song that you performed yourself. Even more, you can use it to study a new language, or to prepare meeting notes. Version 4.0.0 adds support for YouTube videos.

Now my favorite app for learning guitar songs from performances
The developer has really improved this app exponentially. Highly functional and intuitive, with an A-B looper, pitch shifter, playback speed controls and audio effects.
Stores multiple sections for Learning songs. You can edit the name of each section for better organization. Lock and unlock the sections with the click of a button.
View the video in either full screen or split screen with the audio waveform section.
While I haven’t been able to do a search scrub (moving the video manually along with accompanying audio), but that’s not really necessary as the visual audio waveform makes it easy to find where you are.
Best app I’ve found for this. Highly recommended, and kudos to the developer. This is a MUST-HAVE app for musicians!

Bug fixed by developer within days
This app is perfect for practicing with video clips. You can easily make sections that repeat. And playback at slower speeds.
There was a bug that made speed changes not work for video. I reported it to the developer who responded back to my email within hours. He fixed the bug and the changes happened only days later after the Apple update process. Great support!

Great app!
Very pleased with this purchase. As for suggestions, it would have been helpful to have help in the app (but if you keep at it you can figure things out). Also, it would be nice if the looping setting could be remembered so you don't have to set it each time. Thanks for the great app!

Also learning songs on guitar!
Saw the other review from someone looking for a player to play clips on loop at various speeds, FOR LEARNING GUITAR. This is it. Simple and perfect. Worth every penny.

Great app for looping clips from YouTube
Thrilled I found this app! I’m using it for learning a foreign language. You can import a YouTube video and add marks for looping sections, adjust the playback speed… it’s awesome. Really helpful for learning songs in a foreign language, as well practicing pronunciation and accent using shadowing & mimicking techniques. I tried a few other apps and this is the only one that actually works. Took a minute to understand the controls, but overall no complaints. Definitely recommend it for others who are learning a foreign language!

The Best for YouTube Guitar Lessons
I’m giving this app 5 starts for a couple of reasons.
1. I have tried “Snippz”, “Tempo Slow Down”, and this app for slowing down YouTube guitar lessons. The other two have some good features and are even ahead of this one in some ways BUT they seem to have been left hanging by their developers. PlaySections on the other hand is actively being improved and has a super responsive developer (he’s even answered questions I’ve posted to his video on YouTube!)
2. This app works consistently well. When you open it up it scales well to the screen and you can get back to using it in moments.
3. I have high hopes that the developer will continue working on it and implement features such as pitch adjustment for YouTube videos so that when you slow them down you can tweak the pitch to accordingly. Another great feature that “Tempo Slow Down” has that this one doesn’t is a trainer feature that programmatically increases speed of a section so that when you are learning a song, it will challenge you to progressively speed up. Typically, you have to do that manually. Would LOVE to see it in this app and would pay for it.
I guess that wraps this review up. I will stick with PlaySections because the developer cares about his product.
