Ironic
Ironic that an organization that considers itself the gold standard in project delivered a defect riddled basic iOS app. Virtually useless on iPhone 12, loading takes for ever if it ever happens at all (check control quality benchmarking requirements or whatever you call it hahah) if you get it to load the study hall flash cards and test exams are full of typos some of which completely change the meaning of a sentence, not ideal when precision matter as the questions can be very intricate, this is called NOISE in the pmbok 6th edition. I’m assuming you followed PMP standards or attempted to, perhaps in Control Quality you should have terminated a contractor relationship then consulted the risk management plan, as the product was iterating with too many defects….when you do get app to load it says “go to product” did you have any real users test this before deploying or did engineering write all the copy? Maybe they figured they could do it with fewer typos. If you are using iterative process, this app is iterative I’ll give you that, but deployment was early since it’s damaging your reputation and brand wholistically since if your principles were applied with this app, I question the principles , organization, and education wholistically.

Just too much, and quite frankly very frustrating to use
This is based on the days when I could actually log into the app and it didn’t send me in an endless loop going back to the login screen…many days I couldn’t even use the app for this reason. Current issue now too and why I’m finally giving a very poor review. But do read on, there more not to love.

Overall, App tries to do too much. I just want an app that helps me with practice questions and explains them in a clear and consistent way.

I like having solutions with explanations to practice questions, but many of the explanations are a regurgitation of text and make no attempt to map (or explain) why some answers are wrong. Instead they are just confusing.

Would be good to have a flag as feedback to developers if we think there’s an issue with a question / answer. Also, I would have the opportunity to vote on questions that I think are good (well worded, make sense, appropriate, etc) or not.

I would like to see the Learning Plans as an outline, not the default expanded view on my phone screen such that it scrolls on indefinitely (think UIX people).

Confidence ratings are a distraction and annoyance and would prefer NOT to have to answer those questions before proceeding.

Much of the Analytics are overkill and don’t add value to my experience.

Unclear where to change email subscriptions to stop getting question of day. Finally found it buried somewhere that was not immediately intuitive.

Should we even trust PMI?
Like most things from PMI, this app is useless and frustrating. My experience with the PMI website navigation and customer support has been the worst. Now there’s this app which I was excited for but greatly disappointed. All of this is astonishing since the institute is designed to teach project management skills yet they clearly have none themselves. It really makes you wonder why we are paying them for our certification and continuing education. Should we even trust them or is this all some Ponzi scheme?

UI is good, but content needs work
This is for the practice exams only since I don’t use the rest of the content available. I like that the UI mimics what’s on the website and that it’s actually made for mobile devices vs just a condensed website as an app. However, the actual content of the practice exams needs a lot of work. I don’t even trust the answers to the questions since there’s typos, grammar errors and just sloppy mistakes. In the comment section it looks like PMI had to correct some of the answers when users found there were incorrect ones marked as correct. How can we trust this platform to prepare for our PMP exams if the practice exams are inaccurate?

Recommend this Study Tool
The Study Hall app was helpful for studying for the PMP exam (I passed on my first attempt). Being able to study via the app or on my laptop was great and let me maximize my study time. The number of mini quizzes and full length exams made this worth the money. I didn’t use many of the other features. The app does contain typos and some glitches but for the price, I am able to look past that.

The Best Study Buddy
I found out about the essentials subscription a week before my exam. I wish I found out about it sooner because it helped me pass the exam. It was still an early version, but lots of useful content. There’s a ton of practice questions that make studying on an app easy and portable. I just didn’t have a ton of time to use it and took the practice exams on desktop to fully simulate the real test.

Too slow and disorganized
It’s really sad how bad this app is considering how expensive it is and that it’s from PMI. Every time I open it I have to log in which takes me away from the app and to the PMI website. There is no easy way to pick the topic for a lesson. Even the daily exam questions via email are annoying because you have to log back in and it’s like dialing up to AOL in the 90’s.

Great Study Buddy
This app was critical in my preparation for the PMP exam. The app kept me on track and provided me recommended study schedule. The lessons and quizing helped me guage my understanding of the material. I would not have passed the exam on the first try without this app. HIGHLY recommend!

Works as expected for me
I was expecting a poor experience after reading some of the other low reviews. On the contrary, the app has worked perfectly for me and is also a great tool. Hope this helps others.
