Innerunicorn,
Very Enjoyable, Not Thrilling
I am enjoying this. I am trying to turn my bad morning habit of aimlessly scrolling through the Google news feed to a quick check on my pond, feed the fish, clean the filter, get the daily gift and then get up and live my real life, not goof around on my phone. It is really worthwhile to do the daily gift every day. It gets you free koins and points and only works if you do it for 5 days in a row. I have not had problems with the app crashing. Sometimes the quoted prices for selling a fish are not accurate and that is a little frustrating. It is very pretty and the nature sounds are soothing. There is not that much to do, especially if you are not willing to spend real money to get game koins. As a person who can sucked into spending way more time than I meant to on games, I find that kind of a good thing. In some ways it’s like a real goldfish bowl. You watch the fish, but not much to do. One downside is that it’s hard to find instructions on what to do. You have to figure it out as you go, in terms of feeding the fish, keeping them happy, cleaning the filter. If you neglect the app for a few days, the pond turns green with algae, the fish die and you have to pay to revive them. I was surprisingly sad when I let that happen.
7812Kit,
Overall more challenging than PP2; prettier too.
Pros: prettier graphics, can sell things you discover you don't like, frogs & turtles more interactive, birds less annoying, not required to use Facebook to interact with other players.
Cons: buggy. Your internet connection needs to be solid, or the app will crash, or lose your changes. Also, I can't do anything to my oval pond b/c it crashes every time I try to change anything about it other than fish, turtles or frogs. I can't even sell it.
Differences: The fish look less real to me than the ones in PP2, so I don't find them as interesting. It's harder to make game coins, but it's still possible, and takes longer. Sometimes I like all the patio options. Sometimes I don't. Either way, I find the game can be very soothing after a long, stressful day.
PhotogAndrea,
Love this game! But...
Update Feb. 2, 2019
I’m very upset because my game started crashing yesterday every time I tried to open it. I can login to the game on my wife’s phone, but not on my phone. I’ve tried every possible suggestion made to fix it, but nothing works. I contacted the app guy, but haven’t heard back. I’ve spent some money on this game and want to keep playing.
I absolutely love this game and play it way too often! It’s really fun visiting other people’s ponds and feeding their fish. One thing I hate is the way fish die if not cared for enough. It’s depressing visiting ponds that sometimes are full of dead fish. Please change this!!! I also wish it were easier to accumulate coins without buying them. It’s frustratingly slow to move ahead in this game without spending money and I’m getting close to discontinuing because of this. Please lower the price of coins needed to move ahead. Also, it would be great to get coin rewards for helping take care of other people’s fish. In spite of all this, I’m addicted to this game!!!!
Monardia,
Dreadful! Disappointing! Downright boring!
When I heard that pocket ponds 2 would no longer work without an update when the next iOS comes out I was sad but the the new pocket ponds came out and I thought great the updated it, but this is not an update it is a new game. You can't transfer stuff from the old game so all your fish, joins, points , etc are gone! The graphics aren't a whole lot better either. The fish now have male and female but all the females are navy blue and some other combo( boring) and the patterns lack imagination as well. You also have to feed and play with your fish multiple times a day instead of once a day like the old game. The fish movement is very unnatural as well. You can't get ahead because fish cost almost as much to breed as to sell so you always just break even. The loin spin after 5 days of playing is pathetic and the daily gift is rarely joins . Don't waste your time and seriously do not buy anything because you will never get anywhere in this game.

Fun yet relaxing
I really like this game. The graphics are unique and beautiful. It seems very hard to get koins at first, but once you get enough to start spinning the wheel then you can easily win 10 koins at the cost of 3 about 90% of the time. Once you start accumulating koins easily, you can actually enjoy the game by decking out your pond and patio as well as breeding for the type of koi fish you want. However, you also need a lot of credits to get nice things, and the best way to get tons of credits is to fish for the most expensive koi in the mystery pond and then sell them. It’s easy and fun once you get started. I GIVE THIS GAME A 4/5 STARS BECAUSE i wish there were more environmental options. :) overall a nice game; I love my fish!
NathanIntense,
Nibbles
My wife loves fish (aquariums, hatcheries, in ponds, in lakes, etc.) and finds this app (Pocket Ponds) fun and relaxing. Here’s what she told me:

I’m not big on in-app purchases and have plenty of patience, so I’m enjoying the daily gifts for slowly building up various points and things. Watching fish is relaxing, and since we don’t have space for an awuarium, I searched for an app and found this one.

My one disappointment is that it doesn’t take advantage of the iPhone haptics to allow a vibration when you let the fish nibble your finger.

It’s fun to breed the fish and see what the new ones look like, and I love that they get bigger over time. And I like how they get playful at times, flipping over and swimming faster and slower. I also like how you can see the algae (?) building up if you don’t clean the filter.

I look forward to eventually visiting other ponds, but mostly I just like watching, feeding, and playing with my fish.
LadyDocFL,
No customer support, buggy, don’t get
I tried to contact Trigger Wave. NO tech support., & has NO tech support. I get False notifications. Waste of time, no fun.

Update June 30, 2020: There is a fatal & reproducible problem connect ing to the server. I’ve made too-numerous-to-count attempts, see the logo for 2 seconds, then I’m unceremoniously dumped to my desktop. I even rebooted my iPad with no change.

It behooves the developer to support users of the product. If you are unwilling or otherwise unavailable, Apple should remove your apps from the AppStore, Permanently.

Update August 26, 2020. Trigger Wave programmer hasn’t updated app in 3 years! No customer support. Just collect money from players to buy items. Apple should kick these deadbeats out of the Apple Store. Apple should refund the money I’ve spent on this game.

Update October 11, 2020. Finally able to login. All fish dead. my earlier comments stand.
Update October 13, 2020. I decided to revive a few fish, only to see the play koins & PAID for were taken, but the “revive or cancel”’ screen, & even when I rebooted, the fish remained dead. I must protest that this is tantamount to THEFT. I will report this to Apple since this does not belong in their store.
Rubbanubb,
Long overdue
Finally, they updated the app! And it's just awesome! I Have had pocket pond 2 for about 4-5 years. Was very bored as they never changed or updated anything. This new version is amazing. Male and female koi now. More frogs, turtles, inside pond decorations, and now outside pond decorations? Nice! Graphics much better. Much better playability. More things to do. Food is now free. Your no longer stuck with a pond, you can sell it if you like. You can also change the pond floor design, finally! Different types, styles, and sizes of ponds. This was long overdue. I love the new version! You will too! The only negative, get the bugs worked out developers! The game crashes, A LOT! However luckily, as of yet, it has not lost any of my progress. Thanks for the great long overdue facelift to this game! As soon as they work out the bugs it's going to be great!
RavenUlf,
Patio doesn’t work
I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro Max. That being said the patio function does not want to work at all. I’ll drop a patio decoration and lost will just vanish. I have a pond and it’s floating in a sea of large turtle shells or other random leftovers from a Grateful Dead acid trip. I’ve reached out on the Facebook group for help and didn’t get any. Hoping I can get help here.

I don’t terribly mind not being able to access the patio fun. But I am a little upset at the waste of coins to figure out what I can’t use.

Would be nice to have an update to fix this part of the app. But I do love the fish.
Mark Shermer,
A work in progress
Ok, what happened to this app. I have been using it for a long time. Now, all of a sudden, the app won’t connect to the servers at all! I have it on three different devices and none of them run any more. Since I still see it available here maybe it is just broken. Nice job!

Addendum: So here we go. The server is back up. All of my very rare fish are dead and you are wanting a ton of money to revive them. This is your fault not mine so why am I being charged so much to get back to where I was. You had better correct this or I for one will be dumping your app forever!
