Welcome to iOS 16!

We've added a Lock Screen widget to show the next SpaceX launch right from your Lock Screen.
We've also added new App Icons just for fun, inspired by Starship's design and materials. And one other icon that is inspired by a certain toy space ranger ;).

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

We're dumping a sack full of presents into the app this month. Under the Pocket Rocket tree, you'll find:
- A Christmas/Winter themed intro video
- Downloadable wallpapers featuring the Dragon capsule, adorned with a Santa hat
- Every rocket model and capsule model (except the landed Falcon 9 and Superheavy booster) are temporarily wearing hats.
- You can view all these rockets and their hats in AR!

Also, coming to AR...
- People Occlusion! You can now have someone walk in front of a model, and they will appear in front of the rocket, as if the rocket is actually positioned behind them.
- And with this, we've also added the ability to take photos directly in AR! No more screenshots.
- You can also rotate the rockets on their vertical axis to make sure they're facing the direction you want.

Some small improvements:
- When you hit "Restore Purchase" you'll now see a confirmation that your purchase was correctly restored through the App Store, and verified in the app.
1.09.5
2020-12-13
What's New!
- Exactly that! We've added a What's New digest to the app to show you everything new in each app version.
- Like the following...

Updated Starship and Superheavy 3D/AD models
- We've updated the Starship and Superheavy models to match SpaceX's latest designs.
- We've changed the textures on them to have a more lifelike, brushed metal appearance.
- Note: The Starship-Superheavy combo configuration has *not* been updated.

Troubleshooting Tool
- For all the most common issues users have in the app, we've created a tool to help you solve the problems immediately from your phone.
- Common problems include: Not receiving notifications, seeing an incorrect subscription tier, not receiving updates.

Other improvements:
- Each time you open the app now, the Widget's data will be reloaded, to allow your app and widget to be better in sync.
1.09.4
2020-11-29
Bug Fixes:
- SpaceX is using a new Dragon Cargo vehicle (2.0) for the CRS-21 launch, which prevented the capsule from showing in the Next Launch cell. The app is updated to be able to handle this vehicle's existence.
- Previous versions had errors in showing the rocket name and details on Launch Detail views. That issue is also fixed now.

Thanks as always for using Pocket Rocket!
1.09.3
2020-11-15
Bug Fix:
- The previous version of the app was rendering a blank screen in lieu of a complete launch schedule. This build fixes that issue.
1.09.2
2020-11-12
Medium Widget Update:
- The Medium Widget will now reflect your subscription tier in the app's emblem!
- The Medium Widget will also show formatted dates like "November 14" for launches that are greater than 3 days away.

Other:
- We've added the ability to notify you via the app if you need to update your app in order to use it.
1.09.1
2020-10-28
We've added Medium sized Widgets to the line-up.
- Medium features data about the the specific rocket being flown, like its serial number, how many times it has flown before, and how it intendeds to land after its current flight.

We're also using a new networking model that lets us use more information about each launch in the future, so please expect some hiccups as we work to get this right in the app.

2020-09-30
Bug fix: Widgets were unable to refresh their data to display the correct next launch.

The Widget will now also say "Soon" instead of "Today" when a launch is approaching, to remove some confusion around dates.
1.08
2020-09-24
Widget:
- Formatting fixes to prevent the "Days" number from showing a negative number
- When a date is undetermined, the "Days" number will just show TBD
- For smaller screen sizes, text will now shrink and wrap to preserve the information in the widget.
- Note: We've temporarily removed the Medium Sized Widget.

Rockets:
- Every rocket is available for viewing from every launch.
- Previously, you would have to find a Falcon Heavy launch to see a Falcon Heavy rocket. We removed that limitation, as it was meaningless.

We've improved our onboarding to make it clearer to new users what value they get from our subscription tiers, versus our base offering.

We've also made some UI touch-ups for a slightly cleaner feel on the app's main screen.

(Oh, and a slightly more polished new App Icon :) )

TheBry,
Awesome Utility for the SpaceX Enthusiast!
Got tired of randomly checking the SpaceX website for advance notice of launch events, then came across Pocket Rocket. The app is really well thought out, and features countdown info, granular info on the boosters being used for launches, and even sends me push notifications when launches are eminent, so I never miss them. It’s also smart in that it tells me when launches are going to occur in *my* local time so I don’t have to even think about the time difference between where I live and whichever launch site is being used (Florida, California, etc.). And as a really nice touch the app features detailed AR models of all of SpaceX’s rockets so I can bring them into my reality to study up close and personal. This developer also implemented really smart use of widgets for the iPhone and iPad Home Screen. Really cool app and worth paying the subscription to get even more info. I recommend this app for any space enthusiast, but especially SpaceX enthusiasts. Well done!
Bridgeviewmac,
Well done
This app looks good and runs very well. I have had the app for a couple months now. They update launches in real time. Even in the event of a scuttled launch as soon as it’s posted I get the update. I appreciate the effort and work associated with the team for this app. I have recommended to everyone I know is interested. Even my grandma enjoys this app. It’s simple and unique and well built.
Aquarii832,
One of the best
A beautiful, sleek design. Beautiful renders and a fun AR feature. While it currently only has 1 widget, it’s pretty spot on perfect and even if more get added can’t see myself changing from it. Testing against others for SN8, pocket rocket was the only app to give updates up until scrub, and starship is not even fully supported yet (I do have basic subscription for these notifications). Team is super responsive to questions/problems and you can see the amount of time and work that goes in. I do wish subscriptions were more cohesive, all features for $30-40 a year would draw more in than the current price tag. Bottom line, is pocket rocket worth what you can spend? 100%
OkbranchO,
Beautiful App / Poor Launch Alerts
I love this App. It’s beautiful, very Apple-esq and fun to play with. However, I’m giving it three stars because the humans in charge of schedules & alerts have driven me to rate this app.

There’s a saying “garbage in / garbage out” and it applies here. The person in charge of inputting calendar data is constantly sending alerts apologizing for inaccurate schedules. I’d say 1/3 of the alerts are “correction” alerts.

Let’s retrain this employee and have them input / update rocket schedules correctly the first time. I’ll gladly give this app a solid five star rating if I can go a year w/o receiving and “oops” alert.
yashevde,
Great but —
This is a very well-crafted app and I commend the developers for their attention to detail. However, I see in some of the other reviews that y’all say that there’s only so much a team of people can do as launch details change. I think some of the other apps are using the same API because those update faster. Please consider using the best API so that the information is current. Your attractive widget isn’t that useful if the launch date is wrong!
Lvapple2020,
*Update*- Customer Support is great!
While I was kind of upset at the monthly subscription cost, I can totally see where they are coming from. I had an issue that needed to be resolved, and the developer responds very fast to my emails. He helped me with an issue that even Apple was not helping with. While the monthly subscription isn’t for me, it is a great app that I would recommend if you are willing to pay an extra subscription fee for. Even if you don’t pay for a subscription, the app is still pretty good.
Thisismemakinganickname,
A little sluggish, but very cool app!
This runs slowly on my iPhone 7 Plus. I understand this is likely due to processing such high quality models, but it doesn’t feel polished from that angle. Might be nice to have a low quality mode, for slower devices. (My phone never acts slow in other apps—maybe this just needs better optimization?)

Some UI stuff: hard to know when you can view certain rockets: e.g. can only see crew dragon on crew dragon launches, but can switch to other vehicles, like Starship, at any point.
TobyP,
I really, really want to love this app
It looks beautiful. The AR is brilliant. Access to a lot of great information.

But…

For me, the notifications are unreliable, at best. I generally get the T-24h, and T-1h, but notifications about schedule changes are usually too late to be useful. I do realize that last-minute changes can’t be pushed out instantly, but it’s usually long enough that it’s not helpful. Not sure if it’s an App Store developer issue…

The timeline feature, while it looks beautiful, doesn’t provide up-to-date information. It’s currently telling me that the next Falcon 9 launch is on January 31st, which is a week ago. Maybe we don’t know when it’s been rescheduled for? But update the timeline to reflect that.

I’d rather have sent this and screenshots in an email, but the developer support site seems to be down and the website just redirects to the App Store…
JacksonK7,
Well Designed App!
As someone who wants to learn more about SpaceX, I feel that this is a great place to start! The app is very well designed and the information included about each launch is great. I don’t see the big fuss about notifications either. $0.99/month seems to be a reasonable price to get up-to-the-minute updates on each launch. However, it would be nice to see that rolled into the application since it is a paid app.

Questions for the developer: Is an iPad (universal) app coming/planned? Do the rockets “take off” when the countdown is complete?

Keep iterating on the design and rolling out new features to everyone not just those who subscribe to your tiers. Those of us who paid for the app, thereby supporting you, will be very grateful.

Thanks!
Dan O'Leary,
Makes rockets even more fun!
I used this app during its beta period and I’ve never had so much fun knowing about and watching the rocket launches. The AR aspect is also a lot of fun to see just how big these rockets are, or small enough to fit on your table. I would never have called myself a rocket enthusiast but this app has made me a fan. Download it.
