Learn SHAPES! Brought to you by Joyce Hesselberth, author and illustrator of the children's books SHAPE SHIFT and MAPPING SAM. Each animated puzzle hides up to 20 shapes. This game teaches your child circles, diamonds, ovals, rectangles, semicircles, squares, trapezoids, and triangles. Each type of shape is explained and identified. Play a game of hide and seek. Some shapes are in plain sight, but some can be tricky to find! Do I spy an oval, hidden in the tree? Do I spy a diamond kite floating in the sky? See how many shapes you can find in each puzzle!

I can't say enough positives!

This is a fantastic app that has left me super impressed! There is simplicity to the design, but an element of difficulty with the search of the shapes. This app has great positive reinforcement from counting as the shapes are selected to encouragement in the search for the user if there is a bulk of time where no shapes are selected. The shapes are explained for those that need it! A fantastic app for the price!

The num of pictures is too small

The num of pictures is too small, soon my kid played all of them. If you add more shapes and pictures, I would like pay more.

Great graphics and counting, but lacks full classroom appeal

While the graphics are wonderful and the verbal counting the app does is beneficial, the app still could use some improvements before being used in the classroom. While students enjoy playing the game, it might be beneficial if more puzzles were added and different profiles could be created for a teacher to track individual student progress. Adding a hint button might be beneficial as well for students who really struggle to find remaining shapes. Even though the app could benefit from a few adjustments, it does a very good job of showing that shapes can be in different sizes and orientations, something which students often struggle with when they are young. While it is not a perfect app for the classroom, it would be enjoyable for students to play at home and much more beneficial to play than a traditional video game.

Beautiful and unique

The object of this educational game is to find all items on the screen with similar shape as the one announced. Each screen is beautifully illustrated and there are visual and explanation of each shape at the bottom of the screen to provide guidance. The game counts out loud from 1 to up to 20 as each shape is found but it doesn't tell you how many you are supposed to find. Replay value could be an issue if no new illustrations get added on a regular basis - once you have the included illustrations memorized, there isn't much fun or challenge to revisit them. I found the control to be very responsive on both my iPad2 and iPhone4 (which has an added zoom feature). While gameplay and spoken instructions may not be suited for younger toddlers, SHAPES is a clean and polished app for kids to learn to count and identify shapes.

Really fun and inventive, but hints would help when people are stuck--esp kids who might give up when they can't advance

Engaging for younger kids

Overall, this is a fun app that would be best suited for kids around age four and under. Kids above that age may get bored quickly as there are very few levels. This could be remedied through more levels, varied difficulty options and more shape choices.

Good for early learning

This is a high quality app that teaches counting and shapes. The pictures and animations are great. My daughter enjoys the puzzles but can be a little frustrated about not knowing how many shapes are left to find. It would be nice to see more puzzles with future updates.

Wonderful graphics

Functions great. Looks great. Gives really good explanation of the shapes. The only thing that would make it better is to add foreign language.

Cute!

My 3 year old likes counting. The colors are bright and contrasting...wish there was a little more to it though..
